Hair Washing and ‘Miami Vice’: Obama’s Busted on Ducking Out of the Berlin Wall Anniversary with His “Too Busy” Excuse
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on November 10, 2009

Hair washing, 'other plans' to watch 'Miami Vice,' too busy... just don't get busted on your excuse to avoid a date with a guy or to ditch going to a historic 20th anniversary date with Berlin and its toppling of tyranny and Communism... right, Pres. Obama?
Back during my mom’s day, if a young woman didn’t want to go on a date with a guy, she’d often make an excuse, telling him she had to “wash her hair.” Pre- and post-WWII hair-washing must have been a tedious ordeal, because I’ve heard this lame excuse uttered in many a classic B&W film, and it seems to work.
During my college days, if a girl didn’t want to go out with a guy, she’d usually say “she had other plans.” Benefits of the women’s movement. Young women no longer had to seem to be hirsutely vain, but respectable “movers and changers” in the freshmen college scene. “Other plans” may have actually been watching the newest episode of Happy Days, Charlie’s Angels, or Miami Vice on TV (college crush time on scruffy Det. Sonny Crockett with his white jacket and pastel shirts) or anything else that struck the girl as being FAR MORE EXCITING than going out with Dweebie Boy. Watching paint dry, perhaps. Cleaning out under-the-bed dust bunnies.
Times haven’t changed much in 2009. Since most high school and college girls don’t have hearts of caliche, fibbing prevails. Fibbing about “other plans” or “being far too busy” when she’s really thinking of watching Gossip Girl or the webisode series Smosh, maybe taking in a Miami Vice marathon, or just kicking back to read a trashy romance novel. All these time fritterers have limited value to most people. And they’re lame and demeaning to the rejected beau (yes, Dweebie Boy, watching reruns of a 1980s crime show is more appealing to me than hanging out with you at Starbucks or a club or anywhere). Lying seems to, erroneously, be the honorable, although cowardly and mildly dishonest, way to dodge telling the guy the truth. That she can’t bear looking at him unless she’s drunk or desperate. Lying permits avoiding confrontation and pain infliction, without fully slamming the maybe-dating door shut (just a precaution in case she is ever drunk or desperate). Fibbing usually works. The first time.
That is, until the next time Dweebie Boy asks/texts her for a date. And he will. And so, the fibbing “I’m really busy” cycle continues.
So, did President Obama use a lame “I’ve gotta wash my hair/I’ve made other plans”-style excuse to awkwardly cancel/duck out of being at the historical “it’s not about me, so sod off, Berliners” Fall of the Berlin Wall 20th anniversary festivities?
(INSERT LAUGHTER HERE). Apparently so…
From Jim Geraghty, NRO: President Obama’s Busy, Busy Monday:
President’s Obama’s critics are being unfair and silly for complaining he didn’t attend the ceremony to commemorate the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Just look at the man’s schedule: He had a 10 a.m. daily briefing from the intelligence community, a 10:30 a.m. economic daily briefing, an 11 a.m. meeting with senior advisers
. . . and then, right after that, at 6:45 in the evening, he had to sign an executive order about hiring veterans, and at 7 p.m. he had a meeting with Israeli prime minister Netanyahu (with preconditions). In the interim, it’s not like he was just sitting around the Rose Garden and enjoying the weather. Take a look at the White House web site, where you’ll see he was . . . oh. He was sitting in the Rose Garden enjoying the weather.

Check out the photo taken of Pres. Obama sitting alone in the White House Rose Garden yesterday, November 10, 2009, reading (lower right corner).
BUSTED!
At least Obama won’t have to use his “I’m SOOO busy” excuse at the Fall of the Berlin Wall’s 30th anniversary.
I’m betting he won’t be invited.
