Hey, Newsweek, fixed your Sarah Palin cover for you. You're welcome.

Newsweek, you earn an “F” for being the top contender for the “Media Bias Scumbag of the Week” award. Oh, and we fixed your Sarah Palin cover for you (click the image to enlarge). You’re welcome, you left-wing hacks.

Sexist cover of Sarah Palin, taken out of context (update: and obtained illegally by Newsweek)? Yes.

Hit piece story inside? Yes.

Nasty, partisan, biased cover text? Yes.

But it could be worse. Sarah Palin, after giving birth to and raising five children, enduring non-stop, vicious attacks from the media and just about anyone left-of-center, and a demanding schedule that would weary people ten years her junior, looks FABULOUS. Subtract the deliberate sexist element and the Obama-bot fringe media’s attempt to “Caribou Barbie” her, and it’s a photo that most women (yours truly included) would be proud to look like when in their mid forties. And she’s smart as a whip (although leftist character assassinations and aggressive, heavily pruned Couric interviews are suppose to have you think otherwise). The Newsweek cover photo was originally taken for a fitness magazine… which showcased her because, obviously, Palin is in terrific physical shape because she is an avid jogger.

UPDATE, NOVEMBER 18, 2009:
Appears Newsweek ripped off the photo from Runner’s World without permission or nor did they pay for it… uh, oh. Now Newsweek is a sexist AND a klepto/copyright infringement magazine. I remember way back when it was, well, respected…

The stolen “leggy” photo of Palin could have been a whole lot worse…

Newsweek could have printed a cringe-worthy photo like THIS fashion nightmare of FLOTUS Michelle Obama on their cover (most of the following images will enlarge when clicked):

Who in the heck is dressing this poor woman? And who killed the pumpkin that gave up its life for this unattractive dress?

Or this… not so horrible if Michelle-O was going to an evening luau or an art gallery opening (I’m refraining from mentioning Las Vegas hotel lobbies or downtown street corners because I just won’t sink to that level), but she actually wore this to a MEDAL OF HONOR CEREMONY? For cryin’ out loud… what WAS she thinking?

Not flattering at all, but for a casual luau, it's kinda OK, although not what I'd think the First Lady of the United States would be wearing at a big White House event

Or, they could have printed a really scary “death stare” photo like this from Michelle, directed at France’s First Lady and former Italian/French fashion model, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy:

'Yeah, she thinks she's so hot, but I could take on this scrawny little French chick, no sweat...'

Or, Newsweek could have printed a graphic of Barack Obama’s pathetic presidential approval index (at minus 12) from today, November 17, 2009… still looking really bad for POTUS… did Bush have such horrible numbers during HIS first year in office?

So in that regard, the slightly “cheesecake” Palin photo that Newsweek stole could have been worse. As I stated before, I think she looks amazing in the ripped-off photo. And at least Newsweek didn’t do what MSNBC did last week… display fake, embarrassing PhotoShopped pics of the former governor and pretend they were real (because real news stations would actually FACT CHECK first, right, BEFORE airing?)

The frat boys at Newsweek were probably chugging some brewskies when they came up with the idea for this cover. How pathetic. I don’t care whether this is done to a woman who is conservative or moderate or liberal. A Democrat, a Republican, a Green Party member or a Libertarian. It’s sexist as hell. “The problem,” with Sarah Palin, is what? That she’s fit and attractive? Are they kidding?

The choice of photo for the cover of this week’s Newsweek is unfortunate. When it comes to Sarah Palin, this “news” magazine has relished focusing on the irrelevant rather than the relevant. The Runner’s World magazine one-page profile for which this photo was taken was all about health and fitness – a subject to which I am devoted and which is critically important to this nation. The out-of-context Newsweek approach is sexist and oh-so-expected by now. If anyone can learn anything from it: it shows why you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, gender, or color of skin. The media will do anything to draw attention – even if out of context.
