In a completely unsurprising turn of events, it turns out that the preorders for Sarah Palin’s book Going Rogue were not just a fluke. She’s sold 300,000 copies in her first day alone. Harper-Collins is undoubtedly thrilled.
Excellent question posed at GayPatriot about the Associated Press’s obsession with Sarah Palin’s book Going Rogue. But I think we all know the answer to this one.

GayPatriot: Did AP Ever Do a Fact Check On Obama’s Books?
Yahoo! currently leads with a story supposedly fact-checking Sarah Palin’s new book, with a headline contending Palin’s book goes rogue on some facts. Because it’s the AP, I use the adverb “supposedly.” When it comes to “fact-checking” Republicans, most of their “facts” tend to be liberal talking points. And when they do use facts, they usually pull them out of context.
Anyway, this got me wondering, did the AP ever do a fact check on either of Obama’s books? And if so, did Yahoo! lead with such news?
I had heard that SIX editors (I’m not kidding) at Associated Press were assigned to do an in-depth appraisal and tear apart Palin’s book, unearthing every single error possible in it. I was accidentally generous… change that number from six editors to ELEVEN. Because 11 leftist Palin haters are so much more efficient than 6. Can you spell “overkill”? Maybe they should have contracted CNN to do the fact checking…
In this struggling economy, it’s nice to know that any news service has such rosy profit margins that they can afford the luxury to assign not one, not six, but ELEVEN editors to a project whose sole, vindictive purpose is meant to humiliate and destroy a former politician. Can they spare one or two to investigate the corruption of ACORN or SEIU?

Personally, I think it’s a hoot that they’re frothing and snarling like crazed werewolves during a full moon, tearing their hair/werewolf fur out over this book… we KNEW they would. She’s under their skin, and it’s driving them wild like an itchy rash, so they trash and slash Palin and the book into Hyperbole Land… even Newsweek has gotten down into the we’re-not-really-news gutter to discredit her with a sexist magazine cover and hit piece. More publicity, the good old-fashioned free kind (although the ugly, unbalanced, fabricated crappy kind that would make most of us cry, so it’s imperative to have a thick skin), and more water-cooler talk. Win-win for Palin.
Thumbs up, dear Sarah… keep those statists on their redistribute-the-wealth toes.
What is also fascinating is that more hot discussion, analysis, curiosity, and debate has occurred from the fringe media over Palin’s new book, both pre- and post-release, than over Barack Obama’s sealed college records. Funny, huh? In fact, ALL Obama’s school records, even when he a little kid, are off-limits. Has any leftist journalist every wondered WHY? What grades did he earn in high school, in college? What clubs and organizations was he a part of? Why the continued secrecy? Of course, Republicans in the next election will also be allowed to lock up all his or her background information like this and keep it hush-hush from the American public, just like Obama has, right? ROFL.
Additionally, why, as a commenter at GayPatriot pointed out, hasn’t Obama’s drug dealer ever been interviewed? In Obama’s biography, he admitted to being stoned off his butt most of the time when he was a wayward college youth. Why hasn’t the drug dealer ever been interviewed? Did he die? Did he retire? Is he one of the zillion czars in the White House?

What’s notable about Sarah Palin’s book tour, which starts midweek, is where she’s not going. She’s not going to L.A. or New York, Boston or San Francisco. She’s going smack-dab to the middle of the country. Fly-over country, liberals call it. And it’s a shrewd move, not only in selling books, but positioning herself for a presidential run in 2012 if she chooses that path.
It’s a strategy right out of the late Sam Walton’s playbook: go where there’s demand and the competition ain’t. Walton, who could have run and won political campaigns, built Walmart into the behemoth it is today by opening his discount stores in small towns in the heartland, towns that the eight-hundred pound gorilla K-Mart ignored.
Walton conquered the discount retail category from the heartland out. He didn’t so much clobber K-Mart as steal a march on it. Palin may just prove that a heartland strategy does more than sell blenders and books. It may be the foundation for winning a national election.
