Fun on the Links: Pres. Barack Obama has golfed more in his short time in office than Bush did during his entire two-term presidency... what about Afghanistan, Obama?

Nothing surprises me much anymore about this socialist, frat-boy president. Wish I could say I was stunned or shocked (and, well, I am, a little), but more so, I’m saddened by how little our troops and conquering terrorism in Afghanistan mean to Barack Obama. He is called “President Pantywaist” in the UK for a reason…

Other items on his presidential agenda are more important to him. Throwing a Hollywood-studded party and breaking Bush’s golfing record is SO much more fun than doing all that tedious, difficult “president” stuff. Like taking action on Afghanistan… three months have passed since Gen. Stanley McChrystal asked our Party-Boy-in-Chief several times for additional troops.

Barack Obama has now played more golf than George W. Bush did in two terms as president.

But he’s still dithering on whether or not to support the US troops in Afghanistan.

The Wall Street Journal reported:

Barack Obama has now played 25 rounds of golf, a sport he picked up about a decade ago when he was an Illinois state senator. That’s more golf than former President George W. Bush played in two terms, according to CBS White House correspondent Mark Knoller, who tracks presidential trivia.

It’s been over 3 months since the top general in Afghanistan requested more troops.

Obama has still not made his decision on whether to support the US soldiers and marines in Afghanistan.

On Obama’s huge White House party…

The White House gutted the annual Hannakhah party by half.

They claimed they needed to cut costs and could not afford to throw a lavish party with that many guests.

Yet, the Utopias are throwing one of the most lavish, extravagant, spendthrift celebrations Washington has seen in YEARS to delight the multimillionaire spoiled children of Hollywood (which will have more guests than the Hannakhah party would have). The premise is a state dinner for India; the reality is that it’s an overblown, Mrs. Utopia-inspired, “let them eat curry”, tented bougie affair using India as an excuse to have all of Hollywood fly in on private jets, carbon footprints be damned.

Normally, a state dinner like this would be held inside the White House itself, without a tent. But, what’s a big Hollywood party without a tent? Oprah always has a tent at her parties in Montecito, and that’s just the Muumuu she wears to the breakfast trough hours before the actual party begins.

It’s shameful to have a big Vanity Fair Oscar-style party with all the trimmings and excess while simultaneously the traditional Hannakhah celebration, which actually means something to a great many people who look forward to this White House event every year (and the symbolism that comes with it), is cut in HALF.

Surely, not tenting the White House lawn would save money.

Surely, uninviting the Hollywood contingent and limiting the guest list to people with an actual connection to India, the supposed honoree at this fete, will reduce costs.

Surely, the combined cost savings from a more traditional state dinner and guest list would be enough to reinstate the traditional full-scale Hannakhah celebration.

Surely.

What’s really interesting is how many Jews from Hollywood are gleefully making their way to the White House for the state dinner, but not saying boo about the Hanukkah celebration being gutted. Steven Spielberg’s on that state dinner guest list, as is Jeffry Katzenberg, Arie Emanuel (brother of ballerina turned foul-mouth Congressman turned White House Chief of Staff and Skeletor impersonator, Rahm Emanuel), and a host of movie and TV people.

ABC News: Marines in Afghanistan Not Waiting for Obama’s Strategy:

Marines in Southern Afghanistan aren’t waiting around for Washington to decide on a new strategy. Here at Forward Operating Base, or FOB, Delaram Marines are putting into action counter-insurgency tactics aimed at chasing away Taliban fighters and returning the towns and villages within this vast area of Afghanistan to some sense of stability.

LTC Martin Wetterauer, commander of 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, says “on any given day Marines can be in a direct firefight, we can be helping build a clinic, or out training with the local Afghan National Security Forces.” His area of operation, or AO, called Tripoli, comprises an enormous swath of southern Afghanistan and presents his 1,000 plus Marines with just about every challenge one can imagine.

Down a rutted street in a quiet suburb of south Kabul lives a man the CIA once locked in a cage for months as an enemy combatant.

Seven years later, Mullah Wakil Ahmed Mutawakkil, 38, who served as foreign minister when the Taliban ran Afghanistan, may prove to be President Barack Obama’s best chance of ending the gruelling war in Afghanistan – by enabling negotiations with America’s enemies.

Such a prospect would have seemed far-fetched only a year ago; but now, as Mr Obama grapples with difficult Afghanistan decisions, faced with a faltering Kabul government and a spreading insurgency, all options are on the table.

Some of them may seem distinctly unsavoury for a president elected as a liberal idealist – in particular the notion of doing deals with Taliban commanders, and empowering former warlords and tribal leaders who have blood on their hands and in many cases hatred in their hearts.

But America’s desperation to regain the initiative in an increasingly unpopular war has already produced some remarkable changes, and uncomfortable moral compromises are now on the agenda.

Among them, the Obama administration has indicated that it intends to make a fresh attempt to engage more moderate Taliban groups in talks with the Afghan government – in a determined effort to woo at least some of them away from the fighting that is claiming increasing numbers of American and other Nato forces’ lives.

Mullah Mutawakkil, once a confidant of the one-eyed Taliban leader, Mullah Mohammed Omar, was held at a US base in Kandahar in 2002 after he gave himself up to American troops.

Now he is being politely wooed by a stream of senior US officials who make discreet visits to his villa, which is guarded by armed police, to hear his thoughts on what the Taliban mood is like and whether any of its leaders are ready for talks.
