When Congress Majority Voted to Not Fund ACORN, You Didn’t Believe That Democrats Wouldn’t Fund ACORN, Did You?

UPDATE, August 16, 2010… Gateway Pundit reports the good news: New Court Decision: Congress Can Withhold ACORN Funding

ACORN is getting taxpayer money, despite vote in Congress to not fund with taxpayers' dollars -- Wade Rathke, co-founder of ACORN & SEIU Local 100 must be delighted
With the scandals and lies swirling about Washington like gnats, it defies description that we must once again be outraged by yet another bold-faced deception from elected congressional Democrats. The defunding of the left-wing organization ACORN was fairly straightforward… no taxpayer funds were to go the corrupt organization unless they have been found innocent of all law-breaking.
But that vote, passed by a majority in the Senate and the House of Representatives, hasn’t stopped Democrat congressmen from disregarding the congressional vote.
Au contraire.
We’re once again paying for ACORN’s corrupt operation, buckeroos. ACORN acquitted itself of any wrongdoing in the child prostitution stings, captured on video by independent journalists James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles. Wade Rathke and Bertha Jones must be dancing a jolly jig about now.
From Rep. John Boehner (R-OH), Big Government: Dems vote to Allow Federal Funding for Corrupt ACORN:
Last night, defying the will of a bipartisan majority of the House and Senate, Democrats voted to allow the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) to receive federal taxpayer dollars.
In September, large Congressional majorities in both houses voted to sever all ties between the federal government and ACORN. The Senate vote was 85-11; the House vote was 345-75. You’d think that those votes, which USA Today described as prohibiting “any federal funding for the community organizing group,” would have settled the matter. You’d be wrong.
Months later, with the country’s focus on jobs, healthcare, and the Global War on Terror, Democrats are moving to restore funding to ACORN. Last night, Rep. Tom Latham (R-IA) offered an amendment during deliberations on the Democrats’ massive year-end appropriations bill to clarify the prohibition on federal funds going to ACORN or its subsidiaries. That amendment was shot down on a 5-9 party line vote as Republicans sided with taxpayers while Democrats stood with ACORN.
Rep. Latham’s amendment is necessary to prevent taxpayer money from going to ACORN because the Obama Administration’s Department of Justice has taken advantage of a legal loophole to allow ACORN to continue to receive federal funds – despite the passage of the House GOP’s Defund ACORN Act in the fall.
The American people and the Congress have spoken loud and clear: ACORN should be denied any taxpayer funds. Period.
ACORN has already received far too much money from the American people. An analysis of federal data by the Office of the Republican Leader staff determined that ACORN has received more than $53 million in direct funding from the federal government since 1994, and has likely received substantially more indirectly through states and localities that receive federal block grants.
Enough is enough. The American people are tired of seeing their tax dollars wasted on an organization accused of serious crimes – and that’s why House Republicans are stepping up efforts to defund ACORN once and for all.
As conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh said a few weeks ago, “ACORN is Obama… Obama is ACORN.” He was right.
From Gateway Pundit, Dems Vote Again to Fund Corrupt ACORN With Taxpayer Dollars:
One of Barack Obama’s first big “community organizer” jobs involved ACORN in 1992. He has been working along side ACORN since before he became an elected official. Obama also trained ACORN employees. He represented ACORN in court. Obama worked with and protested with ACORN. His campaign donated $800,000 to ACORN in 2008 for voter registration efforts.
And, ACORN even canvassed for Obama last year.
Yesterday, Democrats voted again to fund the corrupt leftist organization ACORN.
And what about ACORN being found “innocent” of wrongdoing? Read this atrocity:
From Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), Big Government: ACORN Whitewash: What ACORN Won’t Tell You About the ‘Audit’ it Bought:
On September 16, 2009, with much fanfare, ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis announced that ACORN was hiring an independent auditor to review its internal processes. Yesterday, the former Massachusetts Attorney General Scott Harshbarger produced a report finding ACORN, as a corporation, engaged in administrative negligence.
This of course has not stopped ACORN from declaring victory and calling the report a vindication. Is anyone surprised that a report paid for by ACORN exonerates them? The fact that this review didn’t even include an audit of ACORN’s financial statements speaks volumes. Luckily for taxpayers, there are numerous federal and state investigations currently underway that should ultimately produce a legitimate finding regarding ACORN’s illegal activities.
The reality is ACORN has masqueraded as charitable organization in order to fund and advance a partisan political agenda. There is no mechanism in place to follow where the use of taxpayer and charitable dollars end and where funds used to pay for their political activities begin.
Despite these findings of obvious negligence on ACORN’s behalf, the Proskauer Rose report was not an audit. In fact, among the “7,000 pages” (19) Mr. Harshbarger reviewed, none of those pages included:
* The financial statements audited by ACORN’s CPA, William G. Stamm, of Hrapman Duplantier LLP,
* The bank and accounting statements of ACORN’s bank, Whitney Bank, located in New Orleans,
* The findings released by the Louisiana Department of Justice on ACORN’s mismanagement, and
* A Congressional Report issued by the minority staff of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform (“The ACORN Report”), which reviewed ACORN’s financial mismanagement and formed the basis of Congressional actions taken against ACORN.

ACORN/SEIU and their money-laundering, thug tactics that have been exposed since the ‘hope and change’ administration, will only be contained by Conservatives regaining a majority in congress.
If we as conservatives do not accomplish this in 2010, this country is royally screwed.
The desperation in ramming these bills down our throats is indicative of the stupidity of our elected officials. Or should I say ignorance.
The whole Health Care bill is unconstitutional.
The U.S. Constitution does not allow the Government to make a profit.
Included within this bill are mandates to fine you if you don’t have health insurance, and incarcerate you if you refuse to buy insurance, and access your bank account for payment to the government plan, along with putting everybody’s medical records on a computer data base.
At what point do you begin to call the present administration an occupier of America?
The attempts are, or should be obvious.
