September 11, 2001: 9-11 NYC World Trade Center attack by jihadists

Terrorists will be arriving at some point soon in the near future, a time that has yet to be determined, but they WILL be coming to Illinois. Makes you feel all warm and snuggly… and sighing a bit of relief if you don’t live in Illinois. For those who DO live in IL, this is going to get worse before it gets better… in fact, I can’t think of a single way this would ever get better. And for the other 49 states in the country, don’t breathe too easily, because blood-lusting jihadists can easily strike anywhere on US soil if they’re already here.

This is a purely political move and a potential security threat to the citizens of the Land of Lincoln, as well as the rest of the nation, but at least Illinois can reap some taxpayer stimulus bucks out of it. That should comfort everyone… a terrorist-based economy. Breech of security on US soil, like that of well-dressed party crashers at a White House dinner, isn’t even part of the Team Obama rhetoric.

Club Gitmo on a paradise island just wasn’t good enough for known jihadists and heck, “perception counts.” Not reality, but international perception. Of course, no one who supports this foolish idea has considered that the negative perception of the terrorist detention facility at Guantánamo Bay will naturally shift to a negative perception of Illinois. If they have considered it, they aren’t going to express it.

From The Powers That Be, Illinois Gets Terrorist Stimulus:

It’s official: The Bush Doctrine of “fight them over there so they don’t kill us over here” is being replaced today by the Obama Doctrine of “bring them over here so we don’t violate their rights over there“:

(AP) Taking an important step on the thorny path to closing the U.S. detention facility at Guantanamo Bay Cuba, the White House plans to announce Tuesday that the government will acquire an underutilized state prison in rural Illinois to be the new home for a limited number of terrorist suspects held at Guantanamo.

Administration officials as well as Illinois Sen. Richard Durbin and Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn will make an official announcement at the White House.

Count me among those who are a little leary at the idea of creating a terrorist-based economy:

The governor and other officials have said such a deal could provide up to 2,000 jobs and up to $1 billion in federal money to the area.

If we could just bring several thousand more terrorist suspects to the U.S. we could dramatically reduce the unemployment rate.

Sensibly, the people of Illinois who will have to live with this raw deal aren’t waving their pom-poms. A Rasmussen poll shows that 51 percent of voters in the state oppose the transfer of suspected terrorists from the Cuban detention facility to their backyard – including 70 percent of Republicans, 37 percent of Democrats, and 57 percent of independents.

Left-wing advocates of closing Gitmo accuse these Americans of “NIMBYism” and groundless fear. But can you blame anyone who watched the Crashergate debacle at the White House or the Scare Force One debacle in New York City for choking on disbelief when Team Obama promises airtight safety, security, and competence?

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was in wacky form, calling Republican leader John Boehner’s comments “crazy” for opposing the Illinois move of Gitmo terrorists. Swift move, Bob. When Dems are lacking in facts to dispute, they call the opposing team “nuts” or racist.

Because only logical, lucid people think the transfer of dangerous jihadi murderers to US soil is a terrific idea. So, the majority of Illinois citizens are now crazy, Mr. Gibbs?

Color me crazy, then.

Asked about fears some Americans might have about Gitmo detainees being transferred to a prison in Thomson, Illinois, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs today singled out House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, suggesting the tanned Ohioan’s comments were less than sane.

“If there are concerns for security reasons, I would hope some of those people would address why they think the military can do what they’re doing at Guantanamo and can’t do it at Thomson,” Gibbs said at his daily briefing today.

Continued Gibbs, “I will say this. I have seen some far crazier comments today — comments from people like John Boehner. Here’s what I would suggest for John Boehner. Call up Leon Panetta or Denny Blair at the CIA or the director of national intelligence. Ask them if he can come down and watch a video put out by Al Qaida senior leadership like — the names that we recognize, (Ayman al-) Zawahiri. Thirty-two times since 2001 and four times this year alone, senior Al Qaida leadership in recruiting videos have used the prison at Guantanamo Bay as a clarion call to bring extremists from around the world to join their effort.”

Earlier today in a press release titled “How Will Importing Dangerous Terrorists Make America Safer?” Boehner said “Republicans will stand with Illinois families and seek every remedy at our disposal to stop this severely misguided plan.”
