Soft toilet paper is the latest thing environmentalists want banned
This is right up there with eating our pets, turning vegan, and eliminating airplanes to save the planet. Eco alarmists/nutbars now are attacking soft toilet paper.
Nothing’s sacred anymore during the Age of Obama.
Do we need to start stocking up on dried corn cobs like our pioneering ancestors did to take care of our potty “business”?

…The issue over tissue in the bathroom — the really super-soft stuff — is more like the fight about the big SUVs loved by many Americans.
Anti-green, according to environmentalists. Politically incorrect. Why should Americans use luxurious toilet paper made from old-growth trees when much of the world gets by with a far more basic and often recycled product?
Why should we flush redwoods, so to speak?
So Greenpeace, the Natural Resources Defense Council and other environmental groups have pushed manufacturers such as Kimberly-Clark (Cottonelle) and Procter & Gamble (Charmin) to stop using wood from virgin forests to make tissue products.
Mountains of paper are dumped every day into recycling bins in homes, offices, factories and schools. Use that to make toilet paper, the activists said.
Time to roll off the big number: If each American family would buy one recycled roll just one time, it would save 400,000 trees, allegedly.
The problem, though, is that each time paper is shredded during the recycling process, its fibers get shorter. The shorter the fiber, the less soft the tissue. And Americans, though indicating in surveys that they embraced green initiatives, also said they don’t want to sacrifice comfort.

The truth is that other parts of the world are further along in using recycled content,” said Kay Jackson, spokeswoman for Kimberly-Clark. “The American consumer still wants softness, and they are speaking with their pocketbooks.”
Pulling back in a competitive market is asking a lot, manufacturers said. They also point out that only 5 percent of forest-industry production goes toward toilet paper.
Darby Hoover, a senior resource specialist with the Natural Resources Defense Council, understands the pressure of customer demand but wonders: Do we really need toilet paper to be as soft as it can be, or do we need it just soft enough?
Environmentalists said other countries — particularly in South America, Africa and Asia — seem to be OK with “soft enough.”

I’m quite confident our founding fathers would have been in favor of us sacrificing a minor comfort in order to save the world as we know it. Although based on this article, I would guess that you’re one of those people who does not understand/believe in science and feels that earth is not in any danger from man-made climate change, correct? I don’t know how this article got on my StumbleUpon, but I hate when I waste my time reading moronic babbling such as this.
And strangely enough, you have enough free time on your hands to write a comment. You’re right about one thing… I do believe (and have written dozens of times) that global warming is indeed a hoax. A majority of Americans are also seeing the light on this scam, on this perversion of science. Please provide the source of the science that proves AGW’s existence (and you can’t refer to the manipulated tree ring data nor the debunked “hockey stick graph” that has been proven to be a “fudged” fraud and for which Dr. Michael Mann is under investigation for by Penn State and Dr. Phil Jones has been asked to step down at the UK university).
You can’t provide any scientific evidence, Andrew, because there is NO peer-reviewed scientific data to prove it. None. Just eco-alarmists and world leaders seeing the taxation of energy as a gigantic cash cow. Read anything not supported by the IPCC for honest data, Andrew – even NASA and EPA admit they have suppressed data that disproves global warming and supports global cooling. Al Gore ignores that polar bears are now at five-fold the population numbers they were 50 years ago… weren’t they about to become extinct by now because of global warming, per his flawed film? And “saving the trees” goes against CO2 nonsense, since trees need CO2 to survive. Eco-nuts try to have it both ways. LOL.
In the 1970s, eco-alarmists were going nuts about the global cooling that was going to thrust us into the Ice Age. Some of the same scientists who said that then are touting global warming now.
Man is wholly incapable of altering climate, as more scientists are coming forward to say. Ignorant and arrogant to believe it, or dishonest to attempt to cash in on this scam. It was determined 30 years ago that you can’t tax people on NOT using energy, so the “global cooling” we are now experiencing is being ignored by those who really want cap and trade to be passed. We also can’t control the tides, tornadoes, hurricanes, blizzards, rain, volcanoes, or earthquakes. However, there have been myths through the centuries that we could control them… the powerful leaders of tribal communities believed that sacrificing virgins would appease the gods and prevent volcanoes from erupting or other holocaustal events. To believe otherwise was mocked or deemed sacrilegious… much like people like you attacking those who dispute the obvious myth of global warming. Myth mongerers who believe anything without proof are naive and dangerous.

ROFL… you’re obviously a global warming believer, yet without any curiosity about how they determined this. I can tell you how: with manipulated data that had a specific agenda to show it, and by denying other scientists from reviewing it and trying to replicate the same computational conclusions unless they were with the IPCC.
