Christmas in Hawaii... at a rental cost of $4,000 a day, no mansion's too lavish or outrageously expensive for America's spendthrift couple, Barack and Michelle Obama
Remember that time that Pres. George W. Bush and First Lady Laura went on a two-week Christmas vacation to Hawaii during a horrible recession in America, and frivolously rented an $8.9-million-dollar luxury mansion with an ocean view, a mansion costing $4,000 a night to rent? Remember also how Bush was brazen enough to also rent two other large homes next door that were for his family and friends to live in while they also enjoyed a freebie Hawaiian vacation during Christmas?
Oh, wait, that’s a typo. It wasn’t George and Laura Bush. It was Pres. Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle, who are playing like they’re friggin’ royalty at America’s expense.
So, does that make it $12,000 per night for taxpayers to accommodate Obama and his friends for two weeks? If so, that’s costing struggling taxpayers a cool $168,000 just for the mansion rentals. The cost to fly Air Force One round-trip to Hawaii must be astronomical. And how much will we pay for all the rounds of golf and other elitist perks Obama will undoubtedly rack up?

Concerning GW Bush, he usually worked through Christmas while at his ranch home in Crawford, Texas, or while at George Senior’s home in Maine. While away on vacation from the White House, Bush received daily national security briefings, signed documents, and held teleconferences. He NEVER rented a luxury mansion, but liberals still attacked him like schoolyard bullies for taking any time off at all or for leaving Washington, DC. What are they saying now about Obama’s frequent trips and this latest one, holed up in a Hawaiian mansion with a gorgeous ocean view? Hmm… silence. Or, weird, insane gushing (from ABC’s George Stephanopoulos).

The country is experiencing the worst recession since the Great Depression. The unemployment rate is at a 26 year record high at 10.0%. But, that didn’t stop the Obama family from renting an $8.9 million Hawaiian mansion for the holidays.

Imagine the outrage if any Republican President went on vacation during a recession and spent $4,000 a night on accommodations. On ABC’s Good Morning America Wednesday, correspondent Yunji de Nies seemed to suggest that President Obama’s family will be spending such an amount renting expensive living space at an estate house in Hawaii for a two-week Christmas vacation. De Nies: “Christmas trees here aren’t cheap – neither is staying in this $8.9 million house, which runs $4,000 a night. The Obamas rented this one and the two next door for family and friends. When you spend that kind of money, people pay attention to detail.”

This conspicuous consumption might feel like a slap in the face to financially struggling Americans who are trying to have their own merry little Christmases. Oh well. Let them eat marked-down fruitcake.

Perception is everything … Living La Vita Loca while the rest of America worries whether they will have a pay check and a home. Is this really the image that Obama wants to project to the American people? How could a President who for one second tires to tell American people that he understand their plight and feels their pain while renting this 7000 sq foot home out?
When was the last time Obama stayed at his luxury home in Chicago? In February, he flew Michelle, the kids, grandma, and a few friends to Chicago on AFO for a Valentine’s Day dinner… did the Obama stay at their home? Or did they rent something scrumptious like they did for their vacation to Martha’s Vineyard back in August?
After some digging, I found this report from Atlanta’s AJC.com, CAPITAL CULTURE: Obama’s Chicago plans a no-go:
Barack Obama said when he became president that he wanted to get back to his home in Chicago every six weeks or so.
Oh, well.
Obama has spent just one weekend — Valentine’s Day — in his South Side mansion since taking office in January. He stuck around the White House for Thanksgiving, headed to Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts for summer vacation and Michelle Obama told Oprah Winfrey the family would spend Christmas in the president’s childhood home of Hawaii.
For all the talk about how much he wanted to get back to his brick home in Hyde Park, he’s opted more often to stay put at the White House or head for the nearby presidential retreat of Camp David in Maryland.
Can’t much blame the guy, really.
First daughters Sasha and Malia have developed a new circle of friends in Washington, complete with Saturday afternoon soccer and basketball games that attract the president in a baseball cap and jeans. First duffer Obama has settled into a routine that sends him to nearby golf courses when the Sunday afternoon weather cooperates.
When the Obamas need a Chicago fix, they invite friends from the Windy City to visit their new home at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
“Sasha had her birthday party here, and she was flying folks in for a pool party,” Obama told reporters in June. “So, really, it revolves around the girls’ social schedule.”

New Rules: And of course we can’t have common-sense rules about sketchy characters who fit the profile of those who wish to kill us; no, we need a bunch of rules that apply to everyone. Like, now you can’t get up and walk about the cabin, and you can’t have anything on your lap, not even a laptop or pillow.
