Imagine that your boss always disappeared when there’s a crisis. Or, that you have a boss who expects others to handle his/her “un-fun” responsibilities and refuses to interrupt or truncate his/her day off or vacation, but expects you to always be self-sacrificing in defusing the crisis. Wouldn’t that make you feel like you had a phony boss, one who enjoyed the title, the privileges, expense account, and other perks, but shirks the actual work involved with the position?

Barack Obama isn’t our boss, but he IS our Commander in Chief. And it’s frustrating reading about his golfing, luxurious vacations, and kick-back attitude when there are major problems and lethal threats, like this past week with the Christmas Day Nigerian almost-bomber on NWA Flight 253 and the civilian protests and shootings happening now on the streets of Iran. As CIC, you’re on duty all the time… hate to break it you, Barack, but it’s an important part of being president. This isn’t some regular 9-to-5 job you’ve got, bucko.

George W. Bush knew that, Ronald Reagan knew that, George H.W. Bush knew that, even “Slick” Bill Clinton knew that. The One has too much on his personal plate (fore, and surf’s up, dudes!) to demonstrate that he, too, knows that America elected him to be a REAL POTUS, not a socialism-pushing, jet-setting, ever-smiling, dictator-hugging playboy who reads pleasant and/or rehashed speeches from a teleprompter once in a while, in between luxury vacations and expensive “date nights”.

In June, when Iranian civilians were being murdered in the streets, Obama pretty much ignored it and went out for ice cream with his daughters. Now, with more Iranian citizens’ bloodshed and a captured terrorist who tried to blow up a plane over US soil, he’s living la vida loca in Hawaii. He’s been too busy on the scenic Hawaiian golf links to make a statement about the Amsterdam/Detroit plane attack or the crisis in Iran.

For months on end, we saw far too much of Pres. Obama on TV, pushing for ObamaCare or insulting Cambridge police or yukking it up on Letterman. Now, when our president is expected to rise to the occasion, to the level of his leadership position as our nation’s elected leader, and reassure the American public of being on top of securing our nation against terrorist threats, he’s out duffing with friends at the Kaneohe Klipper golf course. Or working out with FLOTUS Michelle at the Kaneohe Bay Marine Corps base gym.

We have an absent president… if we ever had one at all with Barack H. Obama.

I wrote back in June about the shameful silence of the Obama administration during the mass street protests that greeted Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s fraudulent re-election victory as President of Iran. As White House spokesman Robert Gibbs ludicrously put it, the administration was “impressed by the vigorous debate and enthusiasm this election generated.” Or in Vice President Joe Biden’s words on NBC’s Meet the Press, describing Ahmadinejad’s victory – “we’re going to withhold comment… I mean we’re just waiting to see.”

Meanwhile, there is rioting and people are dying in the streets of one of America’s key antagonists in the world, Iran. Isn’t there something, or someone, missing from this equation right about now?

Yes, there’s a fellow elected and now assigned to sit in the Oval Office. I’m not disputing that. And that someone certainly has been on camera enough. Yet, even before this latest terrorism event and Iran, I’ve been getting a sense of America without a President in some important ways.

Is there someone, somewhere with whom we all believe the buck really stops? Really? That there’s someone, somewhere who, if called upon to shoulder the sometimes all but impossible burdens that go along with the job, is simply going to step up to let us know it’s him?

I don’t have that sense at all.

The Obama administration reacted to the terrorist attack on Christmas day with its usual aplomb: that is, they are tone deaf and in denial yet again.

President Obama has blithely continued his vacation, which even displeases liberals.

The President and his underlings look ineffectual or worse, uncaring. The American people won’t get the relentless pictures portraying an indifferent Bush after Katrina because the press still loves Obama. But the American people are wise to that too as the approval ratings show.

Worst of all, this weakness emboldens America’s enemies. They know President Obama doesn’t have the stomach for war. They know he’s trying to appease Muslims. But again, his condescension reins. This war was never with Muslims generally (America saved countless Muslims in Iraq and they know it), it was with terrorists (rich terrorists) and the states that support them specifically. But the left conflated this reality and fed the bile which fed the enemy propaganda machine.

This golfing thing is getting way out of hand, Mr. President. From September 2009, posted at USBacklash:

Immediately after President Obama returned back to the White House from the first family’s vacation, he left again to play a round of golf at Fort Belvoir.

The White House pool report said that Obama landed on the White House South Lawn at 1:13 p.m. EDT, and then the president’s motorcade left for the golf outing at 1:54.

It’s good to see that the President is working on the country’s problems!

Obama really isn’t even running the show anyway, so it doesn’t make a difference..

You don’t see Rahm Emanuel or David Axelrod taking vacation do you? Hmm… Funny thing..
