Not Looking Good: Obama’s Presidential Approval, Month by Month for 2009… Left-wing Extremists Attack Pollsters for Bad Poll Numbers
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on January 3, 2010
The last time Barack Obama had a presidential approval index on the plus side was way back in June… he had only been in office five months before his approval index, which had been steadily dropping for months, plunged into negative territory.
And, it has not surfaced from “Minus Land” even once since then.
From Rasmussen Reports, Obama’s presidential approval breakdown by month for 2009:

Rasmussen Reports chart, broken down by month, of Pres. Obama's presidential approval index for 2009
Obama hit the lowest during his time in office on December 22, 2009, which was a disastrous negative 21. As of today, his approval is not much better… negative 18 per Rasmussen.
And it’s not just Rasmussen Reports with the dire news for Team Obama. Gallup is showing equally bad numbers. The WORST for any president at this point in his presidential term.
From Right Wing Dog: Barack Hussein Obama Tanking In The Current Poll by Gallup:
Obama’s job approval rating has fallen to 47 percent in the latest Gallup poll, the lowest ever recorded for any president at this point in his term…
Below are comparable ratings for other presidents since Gallup began taking presidential approval polls in 1938:
• George W. Bush, 86 percent
• Bill Clinton, 52 percent
• George H.W. Bush, 71 percent
• Ronald Reagan, 49 percent
• Jimmy Carter, 57 percent
• Gerald Ford, 52 percent
• Richard Nixon, 59 percent
• Lyndon Johnson, 74 percent
• John Kennedy, 77 percent
• Dwight Eisenhower, 69 percent
• Harry Truman, 49 percentOk Democrats and liberals, read ‘em and weep as they say in poker.
Obama’s numbers have been steadily dropping and if it continues, the coatails many hope to ride in on in 2012 will be awful short. In fact, those of the left party who are up for election in 2010 may be VERY surprised when they lose their prized positions.
One Gallup poll also revealed, back in August 2009, the growing trend toward conservatism in America, as I wrote back then: Mark Levin: More of “Us” Than There Are of “Them” – Gallup Proves Him Right, Conservatives the Majority in All 50 States.
From Rick Moran at American Thinker, Liberals go after pollster Rasmussen:
When you don’t like the message – shoot the messenger.
That seems to be the attitude of liberal bloggers and pundits who have opened a new front in their war against conservatives by attacking the prolific pollster.
Rasmussen’s daily tracking poll of Obama support consistently shows the president doing much poorer than other polls. This is due to the fact that Rasmussen carefully screens respondents for those who are “likely voters” rather than simply polling all adults as Gallup and other pollsters do.
No surprise that the Democrats and left-wing extremists want to “kill the messenger” when respected pollsters are showing that The One’s approval is sinking faster than the Titanic. The Democrat party’s approval is worse with voters.
We have the Dems’ predictable modus operandi here: don’t analyze what caused the approval decline, don’t investigate what can be done to improve the relationship with Americans (as witnessed by the Democrat Congress ignoring faxes, phone calls, emails, tea parties, townhall protests against ObamaCare and cap and trade global warming tyranny, while mocking and attacking those who voted them into office), don’t figure out how they can win back voters’ trust and approval. Don’t even consider that the radical agenda that Team Obama is ramming down Americans’ throats or that Obama’s waffling lack of exigence in matters of national security are to blame for this meltdown.
Nah. Too logical. Instead, they want pollsters like Scott Rasmussen to sit down and shut the blankety-blank up. Of course. It’s the “Chicago way.” And if they don’t shut up… they will be “Palinized.”
From The Weekly Standard, Kristol: The Left vs. Rasmussen:
A piece in Politico claims “Democrats are turning their fire on Scott Rasmussen, the prolific independent pollster whose surveys on elections, President Obama’s popularity and a host of other issues are surfacing in the media with increasing frequency.” In fact the piece quotes only one Democratic pollster who’s critical of Rasmussen. The complaints seem to come from lefty bloggers, and not particularly serious ones at that.
By contrast, one who is relatively serious, Nate Silver of fivethirtyeight.com, comments on his blog that “Rasmussen’s election polling has tended to be quite accurate in the past.” The fact is that in 2008, when Obama won by 7, Rasmussen’s final poll had him ahead by 6. For the final five weeks or so of the campaign, Rasmussen showed Obama with a stable and solid lead, with between 50 and 52 percent of the vote — which I know pretty much matched the McCain and Obama campaign’s private polling. Other public polls fluctuated wildly. Pew matched Rasmussen’s final result, but they had Obama +15 a week before. Gallup’s final poll had Obama ahead by 11, and the Washington Post had Obama by 9 (and by 11 one night before the final poll). So Rasmussen came through in 2008.
And he was on the money — as the Politico piece acknowledges — in New Jersey in 2009. What about 2010? Silver explains that “Rasmussen has a different model of what the 2010 election is going to look like, one which will feature a more conservative electorate. But that model isn’t necessarily wrong, nor does it necessarily reflect bias.”
Reminder: November 2010 is only 10 months away. Your vote will count.
