The Dishonorable Harry Reid apologizes for his racially charged comments about Barack Obama... Democrats forgive him, but not Republican Sen. Trent Lott

The Democrat Congressional Black Caucus has forgiven Democrat Majority Leader, Sen. “Dingy Harry” Reid, for his racist comment in 2008 about then-Senator Barack Obama, as has Rev. Al Sharpton.

Touching.

Let us not forget that the Black Caucus also swoons giddily over tyrannical dictator Fidel Castro, and that Sharpton was one of the head cheerleaders last October to denigrate Rush Limbaugh’s bid for buying an NFL team because of fabricated lies and exaggerations about Limbaugh making a racist comment (which was proven that he hadn’t, but Sharpton and other attackers never retracted their scurrilous comments nor apologized).

Sharpton, with other Democrats, went after Republican Sen. Trent Lott for a racially charged comment he made at a private 100th birthday party for Sen. Strom Thurmond in 2002. Lott apologized profusely, but the rabid jackals attacked anyway. Sen. Reid recently said (as has Florida clown Sen. Alan Grayson and former Pres. Jimmy Carter) that anyone against the disastrous ObamaCare, particularly conservatives and Republicans, are racist and/or Nazis.

RNC Chair Michael Steele has demanded that Reid resign, but Democrats are ignoring Steele. Hey, Reid apologized!

Ah, the Democrat double standard when playing the nefarious race card. Attack Republicans, but forgive Democrats for the same thing… hey, Reid apologized! This race card thing is being overplayed. Americans aren’t falling for it, and the overplay is diluting the reporting of real racism; if claimed over and over by the Dems, the American public will eventually tune it out while smirking. Which will ultimately hurt those who are indeed being racially discriminated against. It’s the “political party that cried racist wolf too many times” syndrome. We’re seeing that their attacks have NOTHING to do with decrying racism, but with attacking their political opponents. Racism from a Democrat is okey-dokey with the DNC. As Rush Limbaugh put it on today’s talk radio show, the Democrats are demonstrating a “plantation mentality.”

Political commentator and author Ann Coulter takes Sharpton to task for giving Reid a pass on his “light-skinned Negro” comment, and that he wouldn’t tolerate that kind of comment if uttered by a Republican.

WASHINGTON – The top Democrat in the U.S. Senate apologized on Saturday for comments he made about Barack Obama’s race during the 2008 presidential bid and are quoted in a yet-to-be-released book about the campaign.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada described in private then-Sen. Barack Obama as “light skinned” and “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.” Obama is the nation’s first African-American president.

“I deeply regret using such a poor choice of words. I sincerely apologize for offending any and all Americans, especially African-Americans for my improper comments,” Reid said in a statement released after the excerpts were first reported on the Web site of The Atlantic.

“I was a proud and enthusiastic supporter of Barack Obama during the campaign and have worked as hard as I can to advance President Obama’s legislative agenda.”

When Trent Lott made a foolish statement at Strom Thurmond’s birthday party about his presidential run on a segregation tick, the media outcry forced Lott to resign his leadership position. Will this more explicit insult create any consequences for Reid? It certainly won’t help his favorability ratings, which have tanked even before this incident.

Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) in 2002 agreed with former Sen. Trent Lott’s (R-Miss.) decision to resign his leadership role after Lott made what some felt were racist remarks at former Sen. Strom Thurmond’s 100th birthday party.

“He had no alternative,” said Reid at the time claiming, “If you tell ethnic jokes in the backroom, it’s that much easier to say ethnic things publicly. I’ve always practiced how I play.”

As liberal media members work overtime to spin racist comments Reid made about presidential candidate Barack Obama in 2008, it’s going to be very interesting to see how many recall Lott’s resignation or what Reid said about the incident.

In light of President Obama’s decision to forgive Harry Reid’s remarks about Obama’s skin color and lack of a “Negro dialect,” check out what Obama said about Trent Lott in 2002:

Illinois Senator Barack Obama (D-13th), who hosted WVON’s Cliff Kelley Show, challenged the Republican Party to repudiate Lott’s remarks and to call for his resignation as senate leader.

“It seems to be that we can forgive a 100-year-old senator for some of the indiscretion of his youth, but, what is more difficult to forgive is the current president of the U.S. Senate (Lott) suggesting we had been better off if we had followed a segregationist path in this country after all of the battles and fights for civil rights and all the work that we still have to do,” said Obama.

He said: “The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott. If they have to stand for something, they have to stand up and say this is not the person we want representing our party.”

And like Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele and Senate GOP Whip Jon Kyl — both of whom also called for Reid’s resignation Sunday — Cornyn suggested that any Republican who said what Reid said would be under attack from Democrats, leading African-Americans and the media.

“There’s a big double standard here,” Steele said during an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

“What’s interesting here, is when Democrats get caught saying racist things, an apology is enough. If that had been [Senate Minority Leader] Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) saying that about an African-American candidate for president of the president of the United States, trust me, this chairman and the [Democratic National Committee] would be screaming for his head, very much as they were with Trent Lott.”
