Elizabeth Edwards has finally taken her life into her own hands, and in her separating (and soon, filing for divorce) from her cheating, lying jerk of a husband, John Edwards, she has taken a brave step towards regaining her self-dignity.

Good for you, Elizabeth.

John said it was “very sad,” and that he still loves his wife very much. But obviously, not enough to be faithful to her.

And so many leftists thought this hair-primping, lying weasel would have made a dandy president way back in 2008. Pul-eeeeeze.

Elizabeth Edwards, the cancer-stricken wife of John Edwards, the former Democratic presidential candidate who admitted last week that he had fathered a child with his former mistress, has left her husband, it was announced last night.

The couple’s separation marks the final chapter in one of the most unsavoury political sex scandals of recent times, one that has destroyed Mr Edwards’s political career.

Mr Edwards admitted last week, after repeated denials, that he was the father of a two-year-old girl whose mother is Rielle Hunter, a videographer hired by the politician to travel with him while he prepared to run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008.

Mr Edwards was forced to make the public confession about his love child by a damning book due to be published next week by his former aide, Andrew Young, who originally claimed paternity of the child to cover-up Mr Edwards’s adultery.

Americans may have dodged a bullet when they returned the myopic George Bush to office. Because we could have been stuck with a proven lying, cheating sex-crazed Democrat in the White House.

Umm. Edwards. Not that other infamous lying, cheating, sex-crazed Democrat who DID end up in the White House.

To add to the disgust and cynicism, Edwards has stopped lying through his perfectly-white teeth because an ex-aide has written a book that comes out next month. Andrew Young is expected to describe how Edwards worked to hide his paternity. Young claimed the child was his own, when all the media glare spotlighted his oily boss.

The child was born Feb. 27, 2008, indicating that she was conceived in the middle of 2007, several months after Rielle Hunter stopped working for Edwards.

John and Elizabeth Edwards renewed their wedding vows in July 2007 to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary.

So, John was fooling around on his cancer-striken wife just a couple months before that ceremony.

Wow. “Jerk” doesn’t even begin to describe this guy.

About the sex tape… I said the exact same thing about the cringe-worthy repulsion of a purported John Edwards sex tape…

Former presidential candidate John Edwards is out of luck if he hoped that the extramarital affairs of Gov. Mark Sanford and Sen. John Ensign would take people’s minds off his own cheating scandal.

Former Edwards aide Andrew Young says the ex-senator and his former mistress, Rielle Hunter, once made a sex tape, according to someone who has seen Young’s book proposal.

St. Martin’s Press just inked a deal with Young, who also says in his proposal that, contrary to his public statement last year, he is not the father of Hunter’s infant daughter — Edwards is. Edwards has denied that.

Young says that his belief in Edwards ran so deep that he agreed to take the fall for the candidate, inviting the pregnant Hunter to live with him, his wife, Cheri, and their three children. Later, after Hunter delivered the baby, Young and his family moved to a different home in California.

While he was unpacking, Young discovered a videocassette, according to the book pitch. Hunter had been hired by the Edwards campaign to videotape the candidate’s movements, but this one is said to have shown him taking positions that weren’t on his official platform.

The purported sex tape confirmed to Hunter that Edwards was even more reckless than he thought.
