James O’Keefe’s Interview on His Arrest by FOX’s Sean Hannity (video)
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on February 2, 2010
The liberal mouthpiece Media Matters went rabidly nuts that FOX hadn’t immediately reported on the arrest in Louisiana of conservative filmmaker James O’Keefe — Media Matters shouted from the rooftops about FOX trying to hide from and cover up the truth. What truth? All media and bloggers (some of whom were conservatives, shame on you) who jumped on that football to crush O’Keefe now have egg on their biased faces, being exposed for jumping the gun, making up information and presuming guilt before all the information had been revealed — bloggers and essayists do that all the time, but respected news sources are supposedly above that. They’re suppose to investigate THE TRUTH, not jump on the popular rumor-mill wagon. Words like “reported” and “alleged” are supposed to preface information in news stories to presume innocence… which didn’t happen with O’Keefe.
A few news sources have taken the high road to retract their bogus claims and reporting of false details (MSNBC was one of the worst major sources for fabricating information — David Shuster is a liberal hack who went beyond speculation and put on Twitter that O’Keefe was guilty of federal crimes — and I can find nothing from Media Matters apologizing or retracting its bias and lies), but the truth is still being investigated.
More courtesy, journalistic integrity, and US legal due process was shown by the media and our government to the Nigerian Christmas Day Underwear Bomber, who had been witnessed by hundreds and had been ON FIRE after failing to murder the people on board the plane with a bomb, than has been shown to James O’Keefe.
This from Andrea Shea King: The O’Keefe Affair: Obviously a Media Malfunction:
When the Christmas Day panty bomber was arrested for trying to blow up himself and the plane he rode in on, he was questioned for approximately 50 minutes before an attorney was brought in to advise him. What happened next? Mister Burning Briefs clammed up.
Contrast that with James O’Keefe, American citizen, who was denied an attorney for 28 hours after he was arrested and accused of trying to tamper with the phones of Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu. During that time, the FBI issued a press release on the arrest and leaked the criminal complaint. The mainstream media salivated, while ACORN’s Bertha Lewis scrambled to appear before TV cameras.
The Christmas Day bomber was given Constitutional rights and Miranda’d within an hour of his arrest but a U.S. citizen was not given a lawyer until more than a day had passed?
How — and why — did a terror suspect get kid glove legal treatment? And as another conservative journalist asked, “Where was the ‘don’t rush to judgment’ media when someone killed innocents while shouting Allah Akbar? But at the first hint of a scandal, they crucify O’Keefe?”
FOX’s Sean Hannity interviews O’Keefe in this two-part video. Good interview, a lot questions are cleared up… O’Keefe comes off well.
Let freedom ring!

Is O’Keefe guilty or innocent of federal crimes? Premature to determine at this point (that’s why we have courts of law), but in my opinion, he’s looking pretty innocent. But again, I’m not jumping to conclusions until everything is made known. I’m including below a statement that I’ve included before, which is from a law enforcement office who was on the scene of the arrest. This was published on NBC’s website on January 27:
From NBC’s Pete Williams, Why tamper with Landrieu’s phones?:
A law enforcement official says the four men arrested for attempting to tamper with the phones in the New Orleans office of Sen. Mary Landrieu (D) were not trying to intercept or wiretap the calls.
Instead, the official says, the men, led by conservative videomaker James O’Keefe, wanted to see how her local office staff would respond if the phones were inoperative. They were apparently motivated, the official says, by criticism that when Sen. Landrieu became a big player in the health care debate, people in Louisiana were having a hard time getting through on the phones to register their views.
That is, the official says, what led the four men to pull this stunt — to see how the local staffers would react if the phones went out. Would the staff just laugh it off, or would they express great concern that local folks couldn’t get through?
