Louisiana’s Sen. Mary Landrieu: Ditz, Dunce, Defender, or Demon with Taking of Team Obama’s Health Care Bribes? (video)

Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on February 9, 2010

There is still plenty of outrage over Sen. Mary Landrieu’s acceptance of closed door bribes in exchange for her vote for ObamaCare. I’ve not yet decided where she falls in the “let’s Palinize her” realm… which of the “four D’s” is Mary… ditz, dunce, defender, or demon?

I’m being more than fair here in my treatment of Landrieu and her so-called “Louisiana Purchase” and flip-flopping… left-wing bloggers have written pretty much the same about Sarah Palin, minus the question mark. And with a boatload less concrete evidence, I might add. Libs are justifying the $300 million in taxpayer money in the form of (take your pick for the term to use) earmarks / bribes / payola / vote money / backroom deal Landrieu will be taking, saying it didn’t benefit her personally, but the people of Louisiana. Uh, yeah, bribes, shady backroom deals, and earmarks sometimes do that. And going against the wishes of a majority of your constituents is just plain stupid these days, whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican.

Posted in November by The Examiner, How Many Years is a $300 Million Bribe Worth?:

Recently former congressman William Jefferson, a Democrat from Louisiana, was sentenced to 13 years in prison for his conviction on charges of bribery and others. The primary evidence used against Jefferson in that case was an FBI surveillance tape of him accepting a $100,000 bribe plus a subsequent search of his home which resulted in the discovery of $90,000 in cash hidden in his freezer.

Now another Louisiana Democrat, Senator Mary Landrieu, has basically accepted a bribe from the Democratic leadership in order to get her to vote for the Senate’s trillion-dollar healthcare reform package. However, her ‘bribe’ was slightly higher than that of Jefferson’s – a whopping $300 million. Now Landrieu does not actually get all of that $300 million but she is certainly hoping that it helps get her some votes when she runs for re-election next year.

From And so it goes in Shreveport, Louisiana Purchase Mary Wants You to Shut Up:

Louisiana Purchase Mary gets emotional as she defends her bribe today before the Senate, and she wants you to quit griping about it.

Somehow she still does not understand why people are angry that she made a backroom deal for more money for her state that other states won’t receive. I live in Louisiana so I guess theoretically I should be sympathetic to her complaint, but Mississippi got hit just as hard by Katrina and they’ve moved on. They aren’t getting a backroom deal.

From VotingFemale, Earth to Landrieu: you got your bribe, Reid got your vote, live with it; your puppy dog tears don’t work:

Senator Mary Landrieu is having Bribery Regrets. Too late for that dear. You made your bed; sleep in it. What you have done can not be undone and attempting Socialist/Progressive Revisionism to hide the facts isn’t going to work either.

From CNN, Landrieu takes swipe at Obama over health care:

“As far as I know, the president thought it was a good idea to have three different bills debated,” she said.

“No wonder people got confused. So it’s not completely our fault that that was the plan.”

Landrieu also said she felt the president unfairly blamed the Senate during his speech for holding up a series of initiatives that had already cleared the House.

“I thought he was pointing his finger at the Senate a lot throughout the speech last night … no I do not think its fair,” she said. “Moderate Senate Democrats, who give the Senate the 60 votes, come from states that have to appreciate a broad range of ideas and since the president ran on a bipartisan, change, working with Republicans, [he] doesn’t do a great service to then say everything the House passes without any Republican votes is something the Senate should just take.”

Written back in December, posted at FireDogLake, Mary Landrieu Magically Cares About Cost Control When It Might Help Millionaires:

By demanding to keep the excise tax on health care plans unchanged and the overall price tag the same it means the millionaires surtax in the House bill is likely to be dropped or dramatically scaled back. Does a millionaire like Landrieu really feel passionately about the need to tax health insurance benefits, or is it just that she is passionately opposed to the House’s alternative funding mechanism, which is increasing taxes for millionaires? I will let others judge, but I think the evidence clearly points to one conclusion.

She has appeared to be intent on protecting her political butt.

At this point in her career, as Billy Joel said… the most she can do is to throw shadows at you.
    Love that phrase. !

Sorry, I gotta go, Roy Orbison is singing Pretty Woman.

You’re so right about “Louisiana Purchase Mary.”

Side not… I LOVE that line of Billy Joel’s… a gifted master of hard-hitting poetry. In fact, AFVET, I wrote a piece a while back on Joel that’s online at Associated Content (check out the link in my right sidebar when/if you have some spare time).

The man is amazing with his creative, haunting, spot-on lyrics and rhymes. A lost skill in the music industry as of late. Joel is right up there with Simon & Garfunkle, The Who, The Beatles, and Bob Dylan for their talent at painting pictures with their words.

      PS – Love Orbison, too…

Very cool! I know how much that pink one you got at random here, oh-so-many moons ago, has annoyed you.

    Is it with Gravatar?

If it is, for the new one to display, I think you’ll need to provide a different email addy in the Comments email section, since this pink avatar is forever linked to the email address you’ve been using – but if it is the same email addy as the one with Gravatar, it should automatically update.

Or maybe not… let’s see what happens (since I’m not seeing the new avatar yet…)

  6. admin says:

Is this correct? It looks like the generated ones from my software, although it IS no longer pink. LOL

You can let me know in a comment the complete email addy that your account with Gravatar is with/under and I won’t publish it… if it works, I’ll just delete this comment and your response.
