Obama didn't make his expensive Air Force One trek for the Las Vegas showgirls

So what did American taxpayers get when they paid for this almost-5,000-mile Air Force One round trip with POTUS, his Secret Service team, and other BHO entourage members to Las Vegas?

Don’t be silly… WE GOT A TOWN HALL MEETING ON HEALTH CARE, OF COURSE. Because the other umpteen times Obama has appeared on national television, pushing and shoving his unpopular ObamaCare monstrosity — most recently during the SUPER BOWL — wasn’t enough.

He also threw in an obligatory bone for Nevada’s Democrat Sen. Harry Reid, who’s popularity in the state is purt-near non-existent these days. Based on Obama’s dismal track record of stumping for and cheering on losers Martha Coakley, R. Creigh Deeds, Jon Corzine, and the Indianapolis Colts, we must all feel Harry Reid’s imminent pain.

During the worst economic recession in three decades, this AFO jaunt to The City of Lights is another “Marie Antoinette show of conspicuous consumption” by Dear Leader.

Now, the burning question on most people’s minds: did Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman crumble and meet with Pres. Obama after saying he wouldn’t?

Nope. No crumbling, no waffling. Goodman was a solid no-show for the POTUS dog-and-pony show — at least, at the time of this writing (Obama won’t be leaving Vegas for a few more hours, so that could change). Goodman never got that apology that he had asked for from the president for slamming Las Vegas tourists.

Figures. But, good for you, Mayor. Although, I was sorta betting on some kind of á la Prof. “Skip” Gates/Cambridge police department “Vegas Beer Summit” to grow out of this POTUS debacle.

Report from KXNT: Obama To Hold Town Hall Meeting:

Air Force One touched down last night and the President was whisked away to Palms hotel owner George Maloof for a private Democratic Party fundraiser for Senator Harry Reid. The President has a full schedule ahead of him today. The President will be holding a town hall meeting at Green Valley High School. He is expected to talk about jobs and the economy. Obama will then give a speech before business leaders at the new Aria resort inside the CityCenter project. The president is expected to announce new funding for Nevadans who are in danger of losing their homes. Reid says that amount could be as much as 100-million-dollars. Obama will leave Las Vegas this afternoon and head back to Washington D.C.

This was a wasteful trip. Announcing his funding for Nevadan homeowners in Vegas was all political showboat nonsense… that’s what press conferences held in DC are intended for… what telephones and webcams and faxes and other 21st-century what-not and gizmos are used for. But, hey, if you’ve got your own fuel-guzzling private jet and you can stick the American public with the gigantic bill, left-wingers would say go for it, right, Barry? And later today, POTUS will fly back to DC. Throw another few million dollars down the Chinese commode for this egomaniac’s ongoing waste of taxpayer money.

HENDERSON, Nev. — Days before hosting an intensive health care summit with both Republicans and Democrats, President Barack Obama made a fervent push for his overhaul, calling it critical not just for the millions without insurance but the entire country’s economic well-being.

“It is vital for our economy to change how health care works in this country,” Obama said Friday at a town hall meeting in a high-school gym here. “Don’t let the American people go another year, another 10 years, another 20 years without health insurance reform in this country.”

The president’s plea for his top domestic priority, which faces an uncertain fate after nearly a year of work in Congress, earned him huge applause in the crowd. He said the drawn-out effort has cost him politically, and also has undercut the standing of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada.

Obama was in Nevada to help the Senate leader survive a tough re-election fight this year – a race that could have a big impact on the balance of power in Washington and the fate of Obama’s own proposals on health care and beyond.

“Health care has been knocking me around pretty good,” Obama said. “It’s been knocking Harry around pretty good.”
