Virginia Could Screw It All Up for Obama’s Health Care Mandates, Other Melting Points Reached for ObamaCare… Make Your Voice Heard!

Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on March 8, 2010

This is supposedly the last big week for Americans to make “their voices heard” on ObamaCare (although, we’ve heard that before and crikey, what does Congress and Team Obama think the townhall protests and tea parties for the past year were all about?).

Call, fax, and/or email your congressional reps, attend a local tea party protest. If Obama is swooping into your state this week, try to attend to protest. We’re being told that a congressional vote will be conducted on March 18, ironically only three days after the historical “Ides of March” when dictatorial Roman leader Julius Caesar was stabbed to death in 44 B.C. Caesar, after assuming control of the government, had begun extensive reforms of Roman society and government.

It ain’t over ’til it’s over, patriots.

Virginia appears to be the first state to have the courageous cajones to pass legislation against this federal government power grab…

From NRO, via Boston Globe, Virginia Says No to Mandate:

Here in the former capital of the Old Confederacy, where resistance to the supremacy of federal law has a long and tortuous history, a new battle is being waged over a question that could undercut a key part of President Obama’s health care proposal: whether Washington can require that most Americans have health insurance.

The Virginia Legislature this week is poised to become the first state to pass legislation that says citizens cannot be required to have medical insurance.

Dozens of other states are considering similar measures, possibly setting the stage for one of the greatest tests of federal power over the states since the civil rights era.

If states are allowed to opt out of the mandate, the foundation of Obama’s effort would be undermined, turning the nascent revolt here into one with national implications.

More shameless audacity from the Man-Child president…

From Gateway Pundit, LOCKED OUT!… Obama Won’t Let Public In to Hear His Health Care Speech in St. Louis– PROTESTS PLANNED… go to the blog for details on St. Louis protests:

Make Your Voice Heard—
President Obama is coming to St. Louis on Wednesday to push his “angry mob unpopular” nationalized health care bill. But, you won’t get to see him.

HE’S LOCKING THE DOORS ON THE ST. LOUIS PUBLIC.

President Obama and Missouri Democrats including Senator Claire McCaskill, Governor Jay Nixon and Russ and Robin Carnahan want to ram their toxic health care bill down your throat but THEY DON’T HAVE THE GUTS TO FACE THE PUBLIC!

[...]

The Second Protest planned by the St. Louis Tea Party Coalition is planned for 5:30 on Wednesday night downtown in St. Louis across from the Renaissance Grand hotel.

Things are falling apart in the White House — infighting ensues…

From Human Events, Emanuel Helping Obama Unravel:

Rahm Emanuel, famous for declaiming that a crisis should never be allowed to go to waste, is now engaged in an epic battle not only with President Obama’s closest advisers but with the president himself.

White House infighting isn’t unusual, especially when the president’s agenda is failing or he’s in re-election trouble. Obama isn’t yet an endangered species whose extinction is predicted for 2012. But he is at a low ebb, and — if Congress doesn’t accomplish Obama’s nationalization of health care before the March 29 Easter recess — it likely won’t be able to for the remainder of his presidency.

Obama’s health care bill is in real trouble.
It may not pass the House because the vote scares Democrats whose November fortunes may be sunk by it, and because of Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) principled stance against abortion funding. Obama’s decision to put Attorney General Holder in charge of the war against terrorists is failing spectacularly, and the reversal of Holder’s decision to try Khalid Sheik Mohammed and other 9-11 planners in New York City is imminent. And the president’s spending tsunami — linked to the health care “reform” — has Democrats running for cover all across the fruited plain. This is not the mid-term campaign year Democrats were expecting.

From Riehl World View, Dems Doubt Health-Bill: Why Obama’s Roadshow Will Fail:

For starters, Obama has not even been able to convince many members of his own party in DC that his health care bill is a good idea. Meanwhile, what’s the narrative behind Obama’s many forays out of the White House in the last year? You can’t point to a single one that has generated any success. When he went to Nevada for Harry Reid recently, it didn’t raise Reid’s numbers a bit.

Obama’s campaign for the WH was a non-stop PR event aided by a compliant press. Since taking office, Obama has managed to disappoint the American people time and again. Yet, he’s given more speeches and been in the public eye, sans press conferences, of course, more than any other chief executive in modern times. None of his many appearances have done him any real good.

There’s a saying in America, fool me once, shame on you, etc …. If America’s response to Obama’s new roadshow gets a standing ovation, it’ll sound more like a Who concert, than a state of the union address: they Won’t get fooled, again.

From Pundit & Pundette, Obamacare Plot Twists:

America is bone-tired of this endless saga. But the president, unable to let go of the conviction that his personal charisma is the key to building support for his repellent agenda, continues to campaign. Seriously. He’s holding rallies in Philadelphia today and in St. Louis on Wednesday. A certain blogger we know has a ticket to the Philly event and we’re looking forward to her report. Will she be able to restrain herself from Wilsonesque utterances? Stay tuned.

From Le·gal In·sur·rec·tion, Obama’s Stalingrad, Not Waterloo:

We have bled jobs while Obama has tried to force through a program the American people do not want. Had Obama’s health care agenda had popular support, the legislation would have been signed into law long ago.

The health care fight has drained the Obama administration and agenda, and the entire Democratic Party. Right now, the Democrats are pushing forward only because they are in too deep. Having continued the battle despite the lack of popular support, Democrats have left themselves no way out.

There is no path to victory for Democrats in this battle. To fail to pass “something” will be a mortal blow to Obama’s prestige; to pass “something” will be a mortal blow to Democrats in Congress in the November elections.

For Democrats, health care defeat has become defeat, and health care victory has become defeat.
