From Entertainment Daily, Marie Osmond Son’s Funeral Held On Monday:

Marie Osmond’s family and hundreds of mourners gathered at the Mormon Chapel on Monday as the family bid the last respect to their loved son, Michael Blosil. The private funeral saw all the family members together along with Marie Osmond’s brother’s family and the late Michael Blosil’s biological mother. The funeral was reportedly attended by around 450 people.

At the funeral service, the family remembered their dear son whose death report has shocked the family. Marie Osmond, who has declared in many occasions that she loves her children dearly, bore a gloomy look on Monday. She revealed during her speech that the biological mother of her adopted son has also come to the funeral service. Marie Osmond showed her gratitude towards the lady who she said had gifted the precious gift eighteen years ago to her in the form of Micheal Blosil.

Donny Osmond, brother of Marie Osmond could not control his tears during his last prayer recital. However, the remembrance speech by seven year old Abigail, daughter of Marie Osmond, was filled with the innocent emotions generated from the loss of a lifetime. She characterized her brother as funny and said that he used to make her laugh. As a seven year old child, her memory of her brother consists of the games that they used to play in the pool and said that she will miss them. Abigail said that her brother had written a song for her which showed his love for her.

From The Daily Caller, Marie Osmond son’s funeral held in Utah:

The funeral service for Michael Blosil, son of singer Marie Osmond, was laid to rest in Provo, Utah yesterday. Over 400 people, mostly friends and family members, attended the service. Members of the Osmond family participated in the service, with Marie’s brother Donnie doing the invocation. Marie Osmond’s son committed suicide on February 26th in Los Angeles, by jumping out of his apartment’s window. He is believed to have been suffering from depression. A note was later recovered by the police.

From TMZ, Marie Osmond’s Son’s Autopsy – ‘Deferred’:

The autopsy of Marie Osmond’s son, Michael Blosil, is complete, but the cause of death is “deferred” — we’re told pending toxicology results.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe the 18-year-old committed suicide, and left a note behind in his apartment unit.

We’re told the L.A. County Coroner has completed the autopsy but has listed the cause of death as “deferred” — meaning they will not say definitively until the various toxicological reports are in … which will take weeks.

The Coroner wants to know if drugs or alcohol contributed to Michael’s death. Michael was in rehab in 2007.

From Associated Content, The Jacksons and the Osmonds Were Linked in the 1970′s During Their Respective Peaks….And Again During the Depths of Their Despair:

As Marie Osmond suffers through the tragic suicide of her son, Michael Blosil, who took his own life on Friday after struggling with depression for years, it is almost eerie to think back to her statement after the death of Michael Jackson in June of 2009.

On some level, it would seem that the Jackson family and the Osmond family would have little in common. While Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 were known for dance and R&B, Marie Osmond and the Osmond family were known to be a “little bit country and a little bit rock and roll”. And, one presumes, there is little crossover in the Jackson and Osmond fan bases.

And yet, both the Jacksons and the Osmonds were closely linked as powerful pop star family acts in the 1970′s.

After Michael Jackson’s death, Marie Osmond gave a moving and heartfelt statement about the King of Pop.

Osmond said, “I think what touched me the most about Michael’s funeral was when his daughter stepped forward and said that he was such a good daddy,” Marie says. “The saddest thing to me is that the people that I grew up with in this business, the people that I love, they’re gone. I know what loss is, I know what that means to lose your parents. To lose him so young I know is going to be very hard for those kids. So hopefully they have that support that they need to get through this difficult time.”

Recognizing the unique challenge that the Jackson kids face, Osmond also said, “Speaking as a mother…I have eight kids…it’s very different to be the child of a celebrity than it is to be a child celebrity”.

This post demands more than just a link. It is a lovely place to land to think of the Osmond family and of what they have sacrificed to entertain us. I am certain that Marie is now kicking herself around the block saying that she should have been there more hours out of every day for Michael. That’s what mothers do. The simple fact is that he had a disease and that somehow it got the better of him. It is always a tragedy when someone so young, so nice, so loving and talented dies needlessly. Someday perhaps we will have classes of medicines that will reduce these incidents but in the meantime, my best hope for Marie is that she will not blame herself overly much and will someday find a modicum of the peace we all know she has lost. Stay safe, Marie.

I agree with you totally. My heart breaks for Marie, SH. As a mother with a daughter, only a year older than Michael, who suffers from depression (but no drug problems), there but by the grace of God go I. My daughter has been in counseling/therapy for years, has been suicidal, and has been on several types of anti-depressant medications for a few years now. I can only imagine the pain and heartache Marie is enduring following his suicide, but I have a deeper empathy and understanding than most. Which is why I’ve not been able to write much on the subject, relying instead on providing just news reports. It grips my heart too much – hits too close to my own home. I also worry about how this affects her other seven children… they must be suffering tremendously.

The Osmond family has given so much to us for decades and has lived such a spiritual life with such inspirational joy and love, it is even more tragic what has happened to Marie’s son.

I posted back at Christmas time a collage of videos of their Christmas specials. Watching them is so much fun – watching this video about Michael’s funeral is not.
