Bashing America Not Paying Off at the Box Office for Howard Zinn’s Minion, Marxist Matt Damon… ‘The Green Zone’ Flops Big (video)

'Green Zone' doesn't bring in the green for Marxist/socialist star Matt Damon... photo from another Damon turkey, 'Team America'

Matt Damon — radical historian and Marxist wacko Howard Zinn’s favorite little hypocritical Hollywood puppet — has launched another box office disappointment, The Green Zone — a film that bashes America and the previous presidential administration, while unabashedly revising/reinventing history to suit its left-wing agenda.

Hmm. Wonder why on earth THAT would bomb with primarily conservative American audiences?

From CMR, Review: “The Green Zone” Is Full Of Action And Fantasy:

“The Green Zone”, Hollywood’s latest attempt at trying to convince the people of a conspiracy theory, is an action thriller that explores what our soldiers went through at the beginning of the Iraq War.

[...]

The main drawback to this movie is that it tries to resurrect the tired idea that the war was manufactured on lies.

From Big Hollywood, BOX OFFICE FLOP: Matt Damon’s ‘Green Zone’ Could Open to Less Than $15 Million:

The moral of the story? If you’re going to trash America and the troops, use Smurfs.

Universal’s “Green Zone” became the latest Iraq War-themed movie to fall down the box office rabbit hole, debuting to just $5 million in the U.S. and Canada Friday, according to studio estimates. …

“Green Zone” could find little traction, getting out to a pace that will give it less than $15 million for its premiere weekend.

That would be even less than the modest pre-release expectations for the $100 million film, which reteams star Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass, who worked on the Universal’s last two “Jason Bourne” franchise installments. The film was put into production during the co-chair term of Marc Shmuger and David Linde.

From The Daily News:

It’s hard to think of a movie that’d play better in the Obama White House screening room than Matt Damon’s new Iraq War thriller, “Green Zone,” in which the Oscar-winner adroitly portrays a soldier fighting to expose the Bush administration’s weapons of mass destruction deception.

From SlashFilms:

In all honesty, I’m not sure a re-edit can save this movie. It’s bogged down with political messages and heavy handed approaches to proving Greengrass’ points. And I think that the shaking, hand held camera style of shooting will hurt this movie. There is a lot of it.

[...]

The trouble that this movie gets itself into is that it wants the war to be black and white. The story paints a picture so that there is absolutely no doubt who is evil, Kinnear and the good, Damon. It creates an environment that leaves absolutely no room for ambiguity. The film is also filled with small speeches by Iraqis that are so on the nose and so overly melodramatic that the movie can’t help but come to a screeching halt. The movie drowns in its own crystal clear hindsight.

From John Nolte at Big Hollywood, REVIEW: Matt Damon & Paul Greengrass Get Their HateAmerica On In ‘Green Zone’:

The poetic irony of the delayed release of the shaky-cammed Hollywood temper tantrum known as “Green Zone” couldn’t be sweeter. Yes, the very same week our Iraqi allies held a historic election that ended up much more successful than we could have ever hoped, our own Hollywood swoops in with a piece of cinematic sour grapes in the frantic, desperate hope of rewriting the history of a war they were so eager for us to lose.

[...]

This hysterical lie Greengrass, Damon, and Universal Studios have invested so much in is so laughably desperate I’m still having trouble believing they told it. Seemingly intelligent people have positioned $150 million dollars worth of propaganda on a stool with one wobbly leg. How did they delude themselves into believing that leg wouldn’t be immediately kicked out from under and the whole tower of bull shit collapsed as soon as everyone in the audience with an IQ above 75 remembered the well known fact that the United Nations, France, Germany, and Russia (among others) all had the same intel we did showing Saddam in possession of WMD?

…As the story plods along — and plod it does with zero tension — the moral hole Greengrass obviously has in his heart, ultimately turns on our own troops…

From Chicago Tribune, ‘Green Zone’ review: Truth is a casualty:

After sitting on a shelf for a bit, his latest, “Green Zone,” opens this week, days after another fictionalized Iraq war film picked up the Oscar for best film of 2009. Good timing? Lousy? The marketplace will decide. But while Greengrass delivers a very skillfully made package, featuring Matt Damon (whose work becomes better and more direct with each assignment) in the leading role, “Green Zone” is the film, oddly, that feels like a too-soon proposition.

To me, it’s too soon, or perhaps just too depressing, to turn recent, tragic and grimly well-documented geopolitical events (spoiler alert: I’m about to express a political opinion) that did not reflect well on America’s place and purpose in the world into simplified, thriller-friendly material. “Green Zone” is partly real and partly, increasingly, fantastic and outlandish in its wishful thinking.

From Hot Air, Surprise: Matt Damon anti-war movie an atomic bomb at the box office:

I admit that I haven’t seen it — and neither has anyone else, apparently — but the reviews from righty film critics were simply gruesome, with Kyle Smith moved by its smearmongering to call it “one of the most egregiously anti-American movies ever released by a major studio.”

If you go by per-screen average, it did as well as in its first week as “Our Family Wedding.” Come, share my amusement.

Damon, as you may recall, is disappointed in Barack Obama… because, well gosh, Obama isn’t radical enough for his hypocritical Hollywood tastes.

For the record, our family has been boycotting Matt Damon films for over a year now. Not one more penny of ours will go to him or those who produce his films.

Remember the terrible puppet movie Team America? No? Well, you probably didn’t see it… most people with respect for their time and hard-earned money avoided this horrible turkey of a flick like they would avoid Rosie O’Donnell at a weekend chili cook-off.

Here are a few hilarious “Matt Damon moments.”
