Priceless: Phone Meltdown in DC Against ObamaCare, DC Tea Party Protest Rally Inspiring… Keep It Up, America! (video)

Did you call the House of Representatives in Washington, DC today to voice your dissent, to tell Congress you don’t want them to vote for ObamaCare?
Yeah, me, too.
Were you able to get through on the phones?
Nope, me, neither.
Priceless…
From The Hill, Limbaugh prompts healthcare calls, ties up House phone lines:
By Jordy Yager – 03/16/10 04:40 PM ET
The congressional switchboard was nearing overload Tuesday after Rush Limbaugh asked listeners to phone in their objections on healthcare.
The House e-mail system was also deluged in what the House’s technology office called “a very significant spike” in traffic. The office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) sent out a system-wide advisory to member offices at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, warning them of the dramatic increase in traffic.
“Our phone system is nearing capacity,” said Jeff Ventura, spokesman for the CAO. “It got critical enough whereby we notified all systems administrators throughout the House that the phone systems are overloading.”
Limbaugh posted the switchboard number on his homepage and urged his listeners to call Congress so they could voice their objections.
While Ventura said that the CAO didn’t have specific numbers for how many calls the House was receiving, he did say that it would have to be “an extraordinary volume” in order for it to clog the system.
Ventura said that the surge in calls, which will result in occasional busy signals for callers, is likely to persist throughout the week.
The House is preparing for a possible weekend vote on healthcare reform.
Regarding phone calls to Congress… tomorrow, we try again. And again. And again.
Because the bill has not yet been killed.
Great turnout for the Washington, DC “Code Red” tea party protest/rally against government-run health care that was spearheaded in part by Minnesota’s Rep. Michele Bachmann.
Here are a few photos from today’s tea party protest in our nation’s capitol.

Dear Vicki,
I went to the Americans For Prosperity/Tea Party Honk No on Obamacare and rally in Batavia, IL, in Bill Foster’s district today (March 16). Sorry that I don’t have pictures (maybe next time), but I hope there will be a post someplace of pictures or video.
There was a good turnout of 500, who met in front of Foster’s regional office there. Approx 5:00-615 PM not the whole crowd but many people lined Wilson Avenue (a major downtown street) with signs asking people to honk for rejection of Obamacare and to support the tea party. Lots of honks and thumbs up and people slowing to read the signs. Definitely successful.
The rally was great with four speakers and an excellent MC from Americans for Prosperity. One of the speakers was Adam Andrzejewski, who ran for Gov. of IL as a Republican and was the first choice of the tea party (he finished second in counties won, and 14% of the vote; Brady, the winner, got 20%). He was a real firebrand and was greatly appreciated, he also was very respectful of the crowd. Candles handed out and lit, we then sang God Bless America to end at 6:45 PM.
Very peaceful, we were asked not to litter, and I didn’t see any.
All the best
Awesome to hear about this, Larry – so glad it went well! Thanks for the update on it. No worries on photos… I was just teasing (well, maybe not totally teasing – *grin*)
I’m proud of you and your fellow participants for taking the time to do this… excellent efforts. God bless you all.
