Dems Ignore American Majority: ObamaCare Rammed Through in the House, 219-212… No Republicans Voted for Socialized Medicine
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on March 22, 2010
Tomorrow is another day, patriots. We fought a good fight against the House Democrats’ health care bill, but we were unable to overcome the outrageous backroom “sweetheart bribes” Pelosi could give away like candy to greedy children with our tax dollars.
I watched most of the debates and was proud and impressed with Paul Ryan and John Boehner. Both men were articulate and passionate, with facts and the Constitution backing what they said. Thousands of patriotic Americans from across the country selflessly took their own time and money to be in Washington, DC, to make their voices heard.
But it just wasn’t enough to offset the reported 64 direct conversations with wavering Democrats that Barack Obama had, either on the phone, in the Oval Office, or on board Air Force One this past week, nor the disgraceful bribes that Pelosi and Company were dishing out, especially to fake pro-life and weak-kneed Democrats.
We will continue to fight the government power-grab of ObamaCare. Our voices were ignored by most of the Democrats in Congress — thousands of phone calls, of voters converging on the Capitol to protest — but we are not finished in this battle that has a grotesquely flawed, freedom-robbing health care system designed to not contain costs, not improve service, increase taxes, and was virtually prostituted through corrupt means of buy-offs behind closed doors, while letting our government willfully take over one-sixth of our economy and most of our personal freedoms.
November is not that far away.
From Roll Call News, Senate Prepares to Pick Up Fight:
Senate Democrats on Monday are set to pick up the battle over health care reform where the House left off, but the path forward remains uncertain as Republicans comb the reconciliation package for weaknesses and Democrats hunker down in an attempt to preserve the integrity of the bill.
“It will be important that we stay together so we can keep the bill strong,” Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said. “We won’t want to erode the bill just because certain people from certain states might want to do something. So, we will to a certain extent have to work together on this.”
Countered National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn (Texas): “We’ll either bring down the whole bill, or we’ll punch big holes in it.”
Senate Democrats were still crafting their battle strategy over the weekend, but they said Sunday’s House approval of the $875 billion Senate-passed bill and a companion reconciliation legislation would be the crucial setup for the Senate debate. The two packages combine for a 10-year cost of $940 billion, according to preliminary analysis by the Congressional Budget Office.
“Our plan is to ride the momentum of what we firmly believe will be a strong vote out of the House and use that to catapult us over what might be a bumpier road in the Senate, given all the parliamentary tools the other side has at its disposal,” one senior Senate Democratic aide said.
A Democratic leadership aide said that much of the Conference’s final battle plan will depend on the outcome of discussions with the Senate Parliamentarian, who will be the lead arbiter of procedural challenges to the reconciliation bill.
Great post at GayPatriot… here’s the opening: Who Says You Can’t Repeal an Entitlement?:
Some of my conservative friends are more glum than I was last night. Now, to be sure, I’m upset. As I watched House Speaker Nancy Pelosi during the vote on the Senate bill she didn’t want to vote on, she reminded me of the Wicked Witch of the West, only the latter had better make-up. And her devilish smile looked real.
My conservative friends are glum because they have bought into the conventional wisdom (“wisdom” which surely animated the last-minute push for Obamacare despite the president’s January promise to focus on jobs) that you can’t repeal an entitlement. But, let me remind the purveyors of that piece of “wisdom”: never before has an entitlement been passed in the manner this one has,* with myriad backroom deals, strong popular disapproval and an organized and energetic grassroots opposition. “Never before in American history has a measure of such importance been imposed on the country by the majority party over the unanimous opposition of the minority.”
The long national nightmare begun when Obama, in the face of declining popular support for his overhaul, forced the vote on the American people, has only just begun. Now, we have a week, likely more, of debate in the Senate. And repeal will certainly be the first item on House Speaker John Boehner’s agenda next January.
