Searchlight, Nevada “Just Vote Them Out!” Tea Party Express: Thousands Rally, Palin Speaks, Unhinged Left-wingers Pelt Eggs… Hopenchange Lives! (video)

Some of the thousands of concerned American citizens who gathered for the kickoff Searchlight, Nevada Tea Party Express rally today

Day 1 of the Tea Party Express… Searchlight, Nevada chapter…

In the normally quiet, small community (population: just over 500) of Searchlight, Nevada, thousands of Americans, protesting the federal government’s fiscal irresponsibility and the recent ramming through of ObamaCare, converged. Traffic was backed up for 5 miles. Also in attendance along the road were violent, angry, left-wing Democrats (only about 35 from reports), reportedly Sen. Harry Reid supporters, who lined up and attacked the Tea Party Express buses with raw eggs as they arrived. Classy.

They also pelted eggs at conservative journalist Andrew Breitbart (thankfully missing him). Crickets chirping from the mainstream media… they’re too busy looking for non-existent racism.

Obviously, egg-throwing isn’t usually dangerous or lethal (unless said egg hits you in the eye maybe). It’s not in the same league that throwing bricks or Molotov cocktails would be. But surprisingly, the Nevada press is dropping the ball on reporting this at all. Maybe not so surprisingly.

Angry, violent tea party protesters at the Searchlight tea party? No.

Not from any of the Nevada news sources could I find any evidence of tea party attendants being violent, and I’ve searched long and hard — trust in that if there were even a whiff of conservative wrongdoing, it would have made front pages across the state — likely the country.

Instead, it appears to only have been angry, violent LIBERALS who showed up solely to create wacky mayhem. Obama supporters. Reid supporters. Welfare state, “gimme my freebies, NOW” supporters who are oblivious to the rising unemployment (now 13.2%) in the state. Or, those who have no real political awareness, but may have been paid by one of the many hidden pockets of the Democrat party’s slush fund to show up and create problems (hey, money’s money, and the economy sucks, dude), via SEIU or another leftist shadow organization. I’ve no proof of this, of course, but that has never stopped national left-wing media from screaming outright lies, so I merely offer what I call strong speculation based on history.

And yes, as stated above, there were only about 35 who showed up to protest the protest, and to angrily lob raw eggs and wave pro-Reid signs.

Which indicates that Nevada is one smart state (based on Reid’s pathetic approval rating) and is filled with a huge percentage of conservatives, or that all the zealous Obama/Reid supporters in the Searchlight vicinity were too lazy to get off their couches today to support their statist senator. Or they had headed off to the Sen. Harry “I Can’t Remember to Vote Yes or No on ObamaCare” Reid’s appearance at the OFFICIAL opening of a 2,900-acre shooting range in Clark County. Which actually opened in January, so of course, Sen. Reid chose this weekend of all weekends to be photo-oped with his 12-gauge shotgun at the $61-million facility.

We get it, Harry… wink, wink.

From Las Vegas Sun, Sarah Palin to Tea Party rally: Don’t sit down, shut up – Police estimate 8,000 at rally in protest of Democrats, health care overhaul:

SEARCHLIGHT — Sarah Palin told thousands of tea party activists gathered in the Nevada desert that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will have to explain his votes when he comes back to his hometown.

The wind whipped U.S. and Alabama flags behind Palin as she stood on the makeshift stage, holding a microphone and her notes as she spoke to the crowd.

Palin says the big government, big debt spending spree of Reid, President Barack Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is over, and “you’re fired.” She told the crowd that Reid is “gambling away our future.”

“Someone needs to tell him, this is not a crapshoot,” Palin said.

She says those protesting the health care overhaul aren’t inciting violence, but says they shouldn’t sit down and shut up.

Palin was the main attraction at the rally about 60 miles south of Las Vegas. It kicks off a 42-city bus tour that ends in Washington on April 15.

Thousands gathered on a dirt lot in Reid’s hometown for what organizers are calling the “Showdown in Searchlight.”

The Tea Party Express had expected between 5,000 and 10,000 people. About 8,000 people were at the event as of 2 p.m., according to an estimate from Metro Police spokesman Jay Rivera. Traffic was backed up about five miles from Searchlight.

Police said there had been no arrests at the event through the early afternoon, but police did briefly detain one person who had a gun in an open holster. Police also said they responded to one medical call for an person having a seizure at the event.

Cars and RVs filled the area as people set up lawn chairs and braced against a stiff wind whipping up dust clouds and blowing dozens of flags straight out.

The rally is targeting Reid and comes on the heels of the passage of the landmark health care reform legislation, which progressives are billing as the most important piece of social legislation since the mid-1960s passage of Medicare, the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act. Passed on a party-line vote, Democrats say the bill expands coverage to the uninsured and cuts the exploding increase in health care costs.

But to the small-government Tea Party movement, the legislation represents an unconstitutional infringement of liberty and a further extension of the welfare state.

Ahem. To Las Vegas Sun, a correction is needed:

It isn’t just the “Tea Party movement” that considers the DemCare monstrosity to be unconstitutional and an extension of the welfare state. As of this week, 13 states are filing suit against the federal government for the unconstitutionality of the health care law.

From Las Vegas Review-Journal, TEA PARTY EXPRESS RALLY: Palin issues call to oust Reid, take country back from Democrats

SEARCHLIGHT — Sarah Palin rallied a sea of Tea Party supporters under a strong mid-day sun Saturday with a call to oust Nevada Sen. Harry Reid and take the country back from the Democrats.

The crowd thousands strong chanted “Run Sarah Run, Run Sarah Run,” followed by shouts of “Sarah, Sarah, Sarah,” as the former GOP vice presidential running mate took the stage as the larger-than-life symbol of the conservative Republican movement across America that is fed up with government bailouts and health care reform.

“Thank you Tea Party America!” Palin cried.

Palin rallied the crowd for about 15 minutes in a wide-ranging speech that denounced the mainstream media, “Obamacare,” a growing federal budget and reliance on foreign energy.

She urged them to use their votes to change the future of the country, while denouncing criticism of her rhetoric as inciting violence.

By telling Americans “it’s not a time to retreat, it’s a time to reload,” Pain said she was “telling people that their arms are their votes.”

“Now media, try to get this right, OK?” she said, adding she was trying to inspire people to get involved.

“We still believe this country is exceptional. It’s not her politicians that are exceptional. It’s her people.”

[...]

Palin said Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California and President Barack Obama are part of a “gang” approving socialistic programs.

“Washington has broken faith with the people they are supposed to be cheering,” Palin said, reading from a written speech on sheets of paper that fluttered in the desert wind. She urged people to vote the Democrats out in 2010 and tell them, “You’re fired.”

“We’re taking our country back and we’re starting right here in Nevada,” Palin said.

Near the end of her remarks, Palin said, “America is going to be just fine — keep up the good work — if we stick to our principles.

“Let’s take back our country … God bless you all!”

From AOL News:

But for all the anger against the policies of the Obama Administration that spurred these people to trek from across the Southwest for this tea party rally today, the dominating mood was joy, excitement and optimism that such events could turn the electoral tides against Democrats in November.

From Reno Conservative Examiner, Reid’s hometown prepares for Tea Party onslaught, thanks to health care revolt:

This weekend, the sleepy little town of Searchlight, Nevada, may take over Reno’s claim as Nevada’s “Biggest Little City,” thanks to hometown hero, Sen. Harry Reid, and an onslaught of his opponents, organized by the Tea Party Express.

Thousands of Tea Partiers in hundreds of charted buses, RVs, vans and cars have already begun to descend on Reid’s flea-sized hometown (population: 562), for this Saturday’s “Showdown in Searchlight,” a mega tea party that has grown exponentially, now that the 4-time senator has passed his controversial health care reform bill.

According to the Tea Party planners, requests to attend the event have literally exploded in number, far exceeding their initial expectations of around 1000 Tea Party activists. Judging from the number of calls, emails, web requests and chartered bus reservations, they might need to add a zero, or maybe two, to their earlier estimates of Tea Partiers who will come to protest what they see as an unbridled expansion of government into the lives of We, the people.

From Just a Conservative Girl: Palin Kicks Off Tea Party Express Tour – Buses Attacked by Reid Supporters:

The Tea Party Express has kicked off it’s latest bus tour. It started today in Search Light, NV, the hometown of Senator Harry Reid. The tea party was expecting about 10,000 to show up in this very small town. It is hard to tell exactly how many people showed up, but it is far more than the 1,000 that CNN’s website is reporting.

[...]

As the Tea Party Express buses were making their way counter protesters and Reid supporters threw eggs. One of the buses was hit. Gateway Pundit is saying that the counter protesters numbered about 35. Also Andrew Breitbart reportedly also had eggs thrown at him when he was walking by the protestors. Apparently the police were called on Breitbart by the protesters to say that he was inciting violence.

So yeah, it is getting ugly out there.

KNTR radio has uploaded fabulous photos from the Searchlight Tea Party.

So the Tea Party is on a “Just Vote Them Out! Tour. Your tour map states the following ‘You, the Politicians in Washington, have failed We The People……” So why are you in Nevada supporting John McCain? Sarah Palin, one of your so-called leaders standing up for McCain. All incumbents are the problem, regardless of party. It is time to Recycle Congress. Vote Them All Out!!!

    • admin says:

Sigh. Jeff, I’ve been married 24 years to the same man – neither of us have been married before. I love the man dearly (obviously), get along well with him most of the time, but only agree with him maybe 85 percent of the time. I’m not married to Sarah Palin, but I agree with her at least 85 percent of the time. BTW, she’s not my “so-called leader” as you put it so weirdly – that sounds like a liberal troll comment, IMHO, Jeff (are you a more crafty troll? LOL). I don’t agree with her at all on endorsing McCain, but I’m sure that there are many, many reasons why she’s supporting him for AZ Senate, not the least of which she is tremendously loyal and he DID pick her as his VP running mate. Supporting J.D. Hayworth, who is a true conservative, unlike RINO McCain, would have been my choice for her, but hey, she didn’t ask me. I am appreciative of McCain’s service to the country, but time to let him go… I have a feeling that many Palin supporters, myself included (I live in AZ) will not vote for McCain in November. Hayworth is only trailing by 7 points as of Friday, and here it is only March… time will tell. Palin is permitted to support her choice, and since conservatives understand that they will never agree with someone 100 percent, look at the other principles and values she endorses.

Supporting Sarah Palin and her message to the country isn’t necessarily a vote for McCain. Nevadans don’t vote in Arizona, Jeff, so your question is quite odd.

Of Republican incumbents who I believe have MUCH to offer in the country’s governance and who have demonstrated that they ARE listening to the majority of Americans and for the most part, strive to be in adherence with the Constitution, if they were up for a vote today and I lived in that state, I would keep Bachmann, DeMint, Kyl, Boehner, Inhofe, Ryan, Issa, Cornyn, Pence, Flake, Coburn, Gregg, and a couple others I can’t think of right now. Brown is in safe waters since he’s a junior senator. Of Republican incumbents I’d immediately toss out, Snowe, Collins, Grassley, Ensign, Chambliss, and many others would be kicked soundly to the curb. It goes without saying that I’d throw out ALL Democrats, except maybe a few who didn’t vote on ObamaCare. Maybe.

I’d probably sway back and forth on Lieberman… he’s a “mood thing” to me.

Actually, no one threw eggs AT Brietbart. What he said was that he stopped to talk to them and to the man with the sign giving false directions to the event, when the group pelted the buses with eggs.
The buses had been duped by the phony sign and turned into their little ambush.

I was at the Henderson rally when he took the stage and told all this.

    • admin says:

OH! Thanks for the clarification. I must have misread that somewhere someone aimed and threw an egg directly at Andrew. My bad.

And Roxy, OUTSTANDING accounting of the Nevada tea party festivities! Awesome job, dear friend… Applause, applause!!!!
