The passionate women’s movement anthem, hit song “I Am Woman,” which was originally sung and written by Helen Reddy in the 1970s, could so easily be adopted by the tea party movement in 2010.
Its message perfectly describes today’s women at tea party rallies.
A recent Quinnipiac University poll has revealed that more women than men are actively involved in tea party rallies across the country. From what I’ve observed at the few tea parties I’ve attended, these poll results appear to be accurate. I’ve seen many women of all shapes, ages, and races… those with children in tow, those with another female friend or two, those with her husband or her boyfriend or her mother at her side.
Last weekend, when I attended the Phoenix Tea Party Express event, I had absolutely no problem going by myself. Had a fabulous time.
Because… I. AM. WOMAN. I knew many other women would be there, and they were. We enjoy meeting new people, gravitate naturally to others, and are usually sociable, considerate, and non-confrontational with others during the course of our daily lives… UNLESS challenged by someone who threatens to harm our family, our friends, or our country.
Then… to quote Scooby-Doo, “Ruh-roh!”

Memo to the Democrat Party, Barack Obama, Obama’s fawning media, and Obama’s liberal Internet troll machine:
You need to rev up the attack on American women if you want the opposition to your progressive socialist agenda to back down. Threats to your government takeover have estrogen by the gallon. We can feed a baby without blinking an eye at 3 am after being roused out of a deep sleep, we can magically transform one chicken thigh into a meal that will feed a family of four dinner, we can juggle family schedules, recipes, tire rotations, doctor appointments, and income tax information in our heads with little effort.
We remember every single betrayal or wrong committed against us since age 12 with startling clarity and accuracy. We possess the wisdom, tenacity, heart, courage, loyalty, and strength of our pioneer mothers when this nation was struggling in its infancy. Most of us are not the sniveling, stupid whiners or the vapid, vain bitches that male Hollywood scriptwriters often portrays us as being… women tea partiers are much smarter and more savvy than that. We’d never wear a negligee with high heels while walking through a graveyard at midnight. We prefer peace, but we won’t swallow back anger if we are lied to — the truth means so much more to us than you’d imagine. We will initially give our trust willingly, but if you ever deliberately violate that trust, cavalierly break a promise, callously bully others, then POOF. Regaining the respect or trust lost is akin to pushing a sumo up a waterslide.
Women have grit. True grit.
You need to attack American mothers, daughters, aunts, grandmas, great-grandmas, little sisters, and girlfriends.
Because WOMEN of America are your growing foes as you attack that which we deem most precious: the US Constitution and our American freedoms to live our lives with little government interference.

Those who say the tea party movement consists mostly of angry white men will have to recast their stereotyping in at least one regard — 55 percent of them are women, according to a recent Quinnipiac University poll.
The survey included nearly 2,000 registered voters nationwide. About 13 percent said they are members of the tea party movement that has pushed for more than a year for lower taxes, more liberty, and smaller government. Of those self-identified tea party activists, about 55 per cent are women.
The finding won’t come as a huge surprise to those who have followed the tea party movement.
Women such as Jenny Beth Martin, Amy Kremer, and Darla Dawald hold leading roles in the movement. Sarah Palin and Mississippi congressional candidate Angela McGlowan are among the movement’s political icons. And several women-oriented groups, such as the grass-roots networking site SmartGirlPolitics, have emerged to give women a place to voice their opinions and coordinate events.
Dawald, national director of the ResistNet site, explained the activism of women conservatives to Politico.com: “You know the old saying that if mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy? Well, when legislation messes with mama’s kids and it affects her family, then mama comes out fighting.”
Given allegation of threats and vandalism lately, she was careful to add, “And I don’t mean in a violent way, of course.”
In addition to being mostly female, tea party activists share a strong distrust of government.
The poll released late last week indicated that only 19 percent of American voters generally trust government to do the right thing “almost all of the time” or “most of the time.” But among tea party activists, that figure drops to only 4 percent.
