ROFL — Not an April Fools’ Day Prank, but Uttered by a Fool: Democrat Rep. Hank Johnson on Guam Tipping Over (video)

Posted By on April 1, 2010

It’s tough to always spot the April Fools’ Day pranks. Early this morning, I nearly posted an entry about a new pet tax that was reportedly going to be enacted in Illinois. At the last minute, I stumbled upon that it was a prank started by two disk jockeys.

Whew – close call there.

And, of course, there’s the rather obvious “Topeka” logo replacing the standard Google logo on the search engine’s home page today.

I also thought THIS was a silly prank to show how stupid Democrat leaders are, so I’ve been ignoring it for most of the day… BUT WAIT!

It’s no April Fools’ Day prank!

Crikey, this is rich.

Yes, the pathetic Rep. Hank Johnson of Georgia really said this… another CFOYT moment: “captured forever on YouTube.”

Who votes for these people?

This would be really funny — knock-down, rolling on the dance floor hilarious — if it weren’t for the fact that this clueless man is in a position of power in the federal government… are you paying attention, Georgia?

From Val Prieto, Babalú Blog, Stupid is as stupid does:

Rep. Hank Johnson (D- Ga) – Member of the very same Congressional Black Caucus that has shown much love for the castro regime – believes the island of Guam would capsize if too many US troops are stationed there.

This is not an April Fool’s Joke, folks, this is from a duly elected Representative in Congress, in his own words:

Rep. Hank Johnson – Guam Will Tip Over

From one of my favorite “bad-boy” bloggers, Doug Powers, there’s this priceless Twitter offer:

Tonight I’m gonna get drunk and go Guam-tipping with Hank Johnson.

Anybody else wanna come?

From Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Rep. Johnson gaffe: Guam might capsize:

WASHINGTON — Is the island of Guam in danger of tipping over and capsizing?

U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson recently worried that it might be, according to a videotaped congressional hearing that is getting plenty of play online and over the airwaves.

Johnson’s comments came during a House Armed Services Committee meeting as he questioned Adm. Robert Willard, commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, about the impact of U.S. troops on the little island.

“My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize,” Johnson said, straight-faced and seemingly serious.

The admiral seemed to take the question seriously, too. “We don’t anticipate that,” he said, proceeding to describe the population on Guam.

The derision online quickly gained momentum Thursday.

A note from a reader to a blog at National Review Online said, “My son is stationed on Guam. I just sent him the video and told him to run to the other side of the island. He said one of his shipmates showed up to work with a life vest on!”

On YouTube, about 75,000 visitors had viewed the video exchange through Thursday afternoon.

From Ace of Spades HQ, House Members are Smarter than You. Part 1:

…I especially like the way Johnson used his hands and the lean of his body to illustrate the Island’s impending list. I hear James Cameron was so impressed that he’s offering Rep. Hank Johnson (D- Obama makes the earth move under my feet) the title role in the Atlanta Little Theater’s Off-Off Broadway rendition of Titanic.

I contacted Rep. Hank (D-Goin’ down for the third time) Johnson’s office and asked them if the good Representative had any other fears he wished to share. I was told that Rep. Johnson also fears:

-Future missions to the moon will cause Earth’s satellite to “go all crazy and spin out of orbit”

-Drilling in the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge will mean “heavy drilling equipment will cause the poles to shift and Kansas City will end up as the new North Pole”

-Excessive use of the office microwave will cause “the oxygen in the oven to interact with the atmosphere, making it overheat and burn away.”
