What Now? Obama Media & Team Obama Failed to Report Automatic Paycheck Deduction Hidden in ObamaCare Health Bill (video)
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on April 18, 2010
One more nasty hidden gremlin has been wrestled from the socialized ObamaCare gimmicky bag of tricks.
FOX News reports that the government has OK’d for itself to quietly get more money from your paycheck for a provision you may not want or need — rather than American citizens choosing to take it and signing up, everyone will be funding long-term care unless they know to notify the government that they don’t want it (nor can afford it, one would imagine).
While this nasty little gremlin was scheduled to be unleashed on working American taxpayers soon, it has now been rescheduled to rear its ugly mutant head in 2012 (after the presidential election? Duh).
No word on how that “opting out” will be communicated or what a citizen must do to prevent the automatic deduction from grabbing from his or her earnings, since Team Obama has said zippety-doo-dah about this secret gremlin.
Let it be noted that in this FOX News report video clip, there is no mention of what income tax bracket you must be in… leading to the assumption that everyone, regardless of income earnings, will be scheduled for the automatic long-term care deductions — right now, it’s presumed to be about $140 a month for each individual.
So, for those earning less than $250,000 or $100,000, you’re not safe from this tax (which The One will no doubt rename to something lofty and unicorn-y to prevent using the vile “T” word).
Another Obama lie, another Obama broken promise.
Are we supposed to say thank you to you for this, too, Mr. President?
November. Is. Coming.

When I worked at a continuum of care retirement home, I was told that only 5% of the residents actually go through the continuum of care (independent to assisted to nursing). The majority generally fail quickly upon a fall or a sickness, etc. I wonder what the threshold is for using this benefit – is it for assisted benefits or for nursing home (home for the aged) benefits? These are defined by law, and my guess is the benefit is only for the “home for the aged” and not for assistance coming to your home and helping you stay at your house for as long as possible, as suggested by the reporting on this new benefit. This is another BAD BAD element of the healthcare law.
There are estimates the goverment will need to charge a minimum of between $160 and $230 per month, depending on age for the “CLASS” provision. This is a program that will pay about $50 for care in your home. Right now they think the benefit criteria will be inability to do two or three activities of daily living (toileting, dressing, eating, etc.) The HHS director has the power to change rates, change benefits, and benefit eligibility criteria every year. If you end up in nursing home, you may be required to pay up to 95% of your benefit to the nursing home or to the government.
Even if you do participate, you cannot apply for benefits until you have paid premiums for five years! The cute accounting trick in the health care budget is they are counting all that premium money collected in those first years as “savings.” Little of money collected is allocated to pay the claims.
The American Association of Actuaries suggests that there will be many people who already have health issues to participate in the program, posing a big risk of “adverse selection.” This happens when more claims than expected come in, causing rates to rise. The healthy people, who can get better rates elsewhere, leave. Then because there are fewer people in plan, the rates have to go up again, etc. etc.
