Frugal Café reader Steve Kemp, a member of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Minutemen, sent the following email to me with the accompanying video.
As an active participant in local tea parties, I have never seen any tea party assembly as scary, as racist, as anti-American, and as dangerous as this group that wantonly attacked the SF Minutemen at the May Day protest (not shown in the video, but news story of the attack after the protest is further down in the post). Appalling.
How many of these foul-mouthed folks with their raging hate signs, complete with swastikas, were illegal aliens? Probably most.
More hopenchange, kids… yet, Pres. Obama felt compelled to send fully loaded riot police and snipers to watch over and intimidate grandmas at a peaceful tea party demonstration in Quincy, Illinois.
Here’s Steve’s email, from the website, wanting to tell his side of the story…
For the first time, a Minuteman group, a Tea Party group, and a 912 group joined together to stand up against illegal immigration in America! The Golden Gate Minutemen, the Pleasanton/NorCal Tea Party and the SF Bay 912 groups combined together to protest the mostly illegal May Day immigrant labor marchers in San Francisco, May 1st, 2010.
During my past four years as a Minuteman in the SF Bay Area I’ve been to many protests. But this one was by far the most vile display of “in your face” group of “immigrants” that I’ve ever seen.
Ignited by the recent passage of Arizona’s immigration law, fueled by many Democratic politicians, left wing, communist and socialist groups, and spurred on by the liberal media, these marchers took aim at us tax paying American Citizens.
The large group of mostly foreign nationals who are living illegally in the United States, were emboldened by their large numbers, and their arrogance was obvious. They carried signs with swastikas on them, communist flags, and I’ve never seen so many signs, shirts and hats with their hero “Che Guevara”, the racist Cuban revolutionary and self appointed executioner during the Cuban revolution. The number of Mexican and country flags easily outnumbered American flags. And most of the literature being distributed or sold at their event, was Socialist and Communist in nature.
They chanted “racist go home” as they advanced to the barricades that the police placed there to protect us from harm. We were forty and they were two thousand. Joined by many radical left Americans (what else would you expect to find in San Francisco these days), it was obvious to us that this crowd despised us. They had “pre-judged” us as racist, neo-Nazis , white supremacist and anti immigrant, just because we want the United States borders secured and illegal immigration stopped. Not only was this far from true, but to me, the true racism was directed at us by them.
We stayed two and half hours, enduring there shouts, slurs, middle finger gestures and dirty looks, in a country that is ours, and in a state that we pay taxes to. All so many of these people can eat, get an education, get medical care, and pay rent – on our dime. And San Francisco welcomes illegal aliens with open arms, having declared itself a “Sanctuary City” for these foreign nationals in 1989.
The Police escorted us to the parking lot, or surely this crowd of “harmless people”, “here just to make a living and feed their families”, surely would have attacked us. Only in America could non citizens be placed ahead of Citizens who were born here, lead good honest lives, and pay taxes to keep America safe and secure.
I’m disgusted at what the United States of America has become over the past 30 years.

The illegal immigration rally didn’t end there, however. Several members of the SF Golden Gate Minutemen were attacked and beaten by pro-illegal alien supporters as they were leaving.

ABC local reported on the beating:
Three people were attacked and at least two others were arrested. The people assaulted were part of the Minutemen demonstration, a group in favor of Arizona’s new immigration law.
They said a large group of immigrants’ rights supporters followed them to the BART station on Market Street and started punching and kicking them, and calling them names.“They said we were racists, and we were against them, and against their town, and against San Francisco,” said Parker Wilson with the Bay Area National Anarchists. “What they were saying, they said we need to get out and called us racists, and that we need to go home. And then they just attacked my friends and me.”
The Immigration protesters carried brass knuckles, maced their victims and then stomped on them.

Those arrested will likely be charged with felony assault and robbery. In the meantime, the rest of the rally got vocal but not physical. Emotions divided the street in front of city hall at Civic Plaza. There were those who support Arizona’s immigration law and those who do not.

Francisco Perez is in the U.S. illegally and worries that Arizona’s law could spread to California.
“I think it should stop completely,” he said.
As hundreds of people marched through the Mission with their message, a group of Minutemen waited for them at Civic Center Plaza with different message.
“Immigrants are draining our welfare system. They are draining our school system, the judicial system,” Elizabeth Kelly with Golden Gate Minutemen told ABC7.
They support legal immigration.
“Nobody is trying to make this a Nazi police state or anything,” said Minutemen member Steve Kemp. “That’s not what it’s about. What it’s about is giving police the authority to be able to question people if they’re in this country illegally.”
But, Andres Balkan of San Francisco believes, “Minute Men is a neo-Nazi organization.”
The Minutemen were dramatically out numbered. Police had to move their opponents back and tighten security. The Minutemen let their signs do the talking.

This is disgusting and vile. These protesters are biting the hands that feed them! How dare they attack the taxpaying law abiding citizens that are PAYING for their children’s education and health care???

And it will only get worse as the entitlements begin to dry up with California’s shrinking budget.
This is horrible. I always knew California was a place of idiots nutbars, but now it looks like the illegal aliens have more rights there than do the legal citizens. Who voted for the liberal politicians that made this happen? They only want illegals to have amnesty so that they can count on there votes. California has to blame itself for the mess that it has made. Thank god I don’t live in that liberal crazy state. Arizona is doing the right thing and I read that other states are going to write laws that are the same to make illegals suffer the consequences of there actions. Then all the illegals in the US can move to California. Adios baby.
Disgusting. The criminals in this video should all be arrested and deported. Thank you to Steve for making this video to expose the hate and brazen attacks of illegal aliens, wanting more rights and government freebies than citizens – of course they’re angry. The AZ law threatens the sweet gig they all have in not being citizens, not paying taxes, not being here legally. In other countries they would be executed as spies. The inmates are running the insane asylum.
