LA Lakers vs. Phoenix Suns: Los Angeles’ Wrathful AZ Boycott, Lakers Avoid AZ Illegal Immigration Politics… Plus, Remembering the Deaths of 4-Year-Old Josie Bluhm & Chandra Levy

Basketball playoff game tomorrow, LA Lakers vs. Phoenix Suns... Lakers are staying out of Arizona politics on illegal immigration, shameful that Suns have not

It’s beyond deplorable that “Los Suns” — as well as head pro-illegals, cheerleading libtard wienie-boy for La Raza, the dishonorable Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon — don’t support their own state on the Arizona SB1070 law.

The Arizona law, which was written to be nearly identical to the language in the 70-year-old federal law on immigration, is meant to curtail the onslaught of thousands of illegal aliens crossing our border every year — to stop what our federal government has chosen to ignore for years. Illegal immigration is a leading contributor to child sex slavery, human trafficking, drug running, ID theft, gang-related crimes, kidnappings, gun running, vandalism, rapes, home invasions, and other crimes, not to mention billions of dollars spent on border city “anchor babies” (estimated cost to tax payers: $100 billion a year), taxpayer-funded welfare entitlements, jobs being taken that are not available for American citizens or those from other countries who are here legally, and illegal immigration-related murders, not just of innocent citizens, but border patrol officers as well.

And then there’s jihad terrorists who routinely enter America illegally from the Middle East and from other non-Mexican countries that the mainstream media is hypocritically mute about, just to round it all off.

It’s not just sweet little illegal alien Maria working as a nanny or kind-hearted illegal alien Juan the gardener who want better lives for themselves in America… no, it’s much, much more than that.

Either Steve Nash and the other millionaire athletes on the Suns team are horrifically ignorant of the vast problems and vile atrocities caused by illegal immigration, or they don’t bloody care. Flip a coin.

Despite the city of Los Angeles’ loathsome, misguided decision the other day to boycott the entire state (can’t wait until those electricity contracts get reviewed — Arizona supplies a hefty percentage of the electricity in the not-so-golden state, as well as a lot of its WATER), the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t having any part in bad-mouthing Arizona.

If Los Angeles is so gung-ho to boycott Arizona, why aren’t the LA Lakers forfeiting the basketball playoffs in Arizona? Read on…

From NBC Sports, NBA Playoffs Suns Lakers Game 1: The Lakers will have no part of Arizona immigration politics:

The Suns last month made a public stand against the Arizona immigration law that has pretty much everyone up in arms one way or another. Following up their public statements of protest, the Suns wore their “Los Suns” jerseys against the Spurs for Game 3 of their playoff series. There were multiple reports that the Spurs had planned on joining the Suns by wearing their “Los Spurs” jerseys, but could not get the jerseys transported to Phoenix in time.

So with the Los Angeles City Council announcing a boycott for the city with Arizona in protest, and considering the very large percentage of Los Angeles residents who are Mexican or Latino, it’s probably reasonable to wonder if they will be making a similar stand for those in their fanbase who feel it’s unfair.

Guess again.

Time Magazine reports that the Lakers will not be involved in any political discussion, with a spokesman saying, simply, “We’re in the business of playing basketball and we’re not in the business of getting into a political debate one way or another. ”

I believe the phrase he was looking for was “Americans who won’t get pulled over for looking suspiciously immigrant buy Laker tickets too.” That’s what Jordan would have said.

Not only will the Lakers make no public statement on the issue, none of their players are electing to comment, either, one way or another.

And that’s fine. Just as it’s well within a sports organization’s rights to elect to be involved on behalf of members of their fanbase, it’s well within their rights to sit out of the discussion. No one is looking to the Lakers for leadership on political issues.

Supporters of illegal immigration like Mayor Gordon, the cities of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Austin, and the Phoenix Suns basketball team have conveniently short memories. Let us not ever forget, as they have, the tragic, untimely deaths of Chandra Levy and 4-year-old Josie Bluhm … they were both killed by illegal aliens.

Josie Bluhm, age 4, killed by a drunk illegal alien - it was not his first drunk driving offense

Josie Bluhm, age 4, killed by a drunk illegal alien - it was not his first drunk driving offense or arrest

Chandra Levy was killed by illegal alien and known sex offender Ingmar Guandique

The sword cuts both ways, California.

From RedState, Does California REALLY want to boycott Arizona?:

Oh, and electricity, darn, seems California gets a heck of a lot of electricity from Arizona’s Palo Verde Nuclear Generating station. In fact, there’s a whole list of little thingies California didn’t think about in its knee-jerk boycott;

-The Department of Water and Power (which must be chuckling right about now) gets some L.A.’s water supply from the Colorado River under a cooperative agreement with Arizona, which has rights to that H2O.

-Arizona-based U.S. Airways has a long-term lease for terminal space at LAX, which is run by the city.

-Los Angeles has partial ownership of the ’70s-era, coal-powered Navajo Generating Station in Arizona, which gives the city a substantial amount of its electricity. (Ironically, Villaraigosa was spinning his mostly defeated DWP rate hikes as a way to ease the city off of coal power and onto things such as solar).

-The city also gets some of its energy via another Arizona plant it partially owns, the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, and relies [on] transmission lines that cross from that state to California.

There’s a whole lot of stupid happening in the LA City Council meetings these days beyond just the boycott vote. “Stepping on a few rakes” about describes it.

Councilman Ed Reyes, showing his colossal ignorance, said prior to the LA boycott vote;

“I cannot go to Arizona today without a passport. If I come across an officer who’s had a bad day and feels the picture on my ID is not me, I could be summarily deported — no questions asked. That is not American.”

Obviously he hasn’t read the bill signed into law in Arizona, or he doesn’t actually care what it says. Either way with genius like this, you see why Los Angeles is so far into the crapper.

From Betsy Ross, GroundReport, Los Angeles Boycotts Arizona: Hooray!:

As a former 45 year Arizonan and victim of illegal loans sold to thousands of Arizonans through California domiciled banking institutions that were not even based on the U.S. currency, but the British LIBOR rates, all I can say is hooray!

It doesn’t appear to me that the City of Los Angeles knows anything at all about how corrupt some of their own politicians and businesses are, and although it is more expensive to bring litigation in the California courts due to all those outrageous hotel and bed taxes levied there, this boycott appears it will work in favor of the Arizona businesses whose contracts will be illegally broken due to the Council’s actions.

It seems California’s budgetary problems will become even more extreme after this latest scene right out of Hollywood.

I wonder who is giving legal counsel to the members of the Los Angeles City Council, or whether those legal Los Angelenos residents are aware of the potential ramifications?

Oh the games, and the spins.

Interesting also that during all those illegal immigrant rallies held in Los Angeles in years past, during the one in which the rubber bullets were used, the Mayor of Los Angeles just happened to be out of the country in Mexico at the time.

It would appear that since most of those Arizonan businesses also hire local day laborers in Los Angeles to assist with some of those contracts, the Council has just taken a stand that may cost a few illegal immigrants their jobs.

Way to go, Mayor and Council, you made your constituents proud.

At least those that are waiting in front of the Home Depots now, but you might want to schedule a few more trips out of the country when those jobs dry up.

Y’know, Vicki, it isn’t so much in the great scheme of things, but I was amazed that the Lakers are keeping their nose out of the situation. Good for them, it’s exactly what I wish the Suns, the NBA administration, and TNT (plus its commentators) would do.

You are SO right that Nash and the Suns don’t care about all the people being trafficked that the law takes aim to help, let alone fixing our broken boarder so that others can have the same type of lawful immigration that Nash as a Canadian enjoys. But of course that also might mean he would have to pay attention to the actual ethnic discrimination that takes place by law in Canada:

    Go Lakers!

I’m so disappointed in Steve Nash – my son is/was a huge fan, and he’s always been an advocate for worthy causes. This isn’t one of them. It has pained me to call him out on his very public stance on every single local news program to support illegal aliens, but them’s the breaks. And for me to want the Lakers to beat the trunks off the Suns feels like sacrilege. I’ve been a Suns fan for more than 25 years. But I am angry for them taking the low road and for not keeping their political opinions out of the press. Nash was a role model for so many children – now he’s standing up for the criminals.

Yes, so although it kicks me in the gut to say it… Go Lakers!

BTW – your link is now fixed, Larry. :)

      • Larry says:

        Thanks for fixing the link.

I can at least sympathize. I would have rooted for the Suns since I’m not a Lakers fan, but not now. Sadly, I’m not watching games on TNT anyway since their anti-immigration law stance.

  3. Your analysis is very poor and your evidence is even less credible. Arizona will not compound its terrible financial problems by cutting supply to one of its largest customers on both water and power. To think so is not very intelligent.

Your analysis on the illegal immigration is equally ridiculous. Look at the heritage foundation’s, an extremely conservative think tank, evaluation of the cost benefit of illegal immigration in the US. UNDER ALL ESTIMATIONS, the 12 million undocumented immigrants bring in much more that they cost. Furthermore, the idea that undocumented people are one of the largest contributors to the heinous crimes that you mentioned is both incorrect and not indicative of much research on your part. You are reciting, verbatim, unsubstantiated claims based on pure opinion.

I am not saying that you are a stupid person, only that we must challenge ourselves to actually put forth the effort to find evidence and “truth”. I say that borders have been and always will be arbitrary. That is opinion. You can disagree and use you thoughts to as evidence because they are your feelings. I find our democracy to be weak, and our citizens to be irresponsible and apathetic to the vast exploitation perpetrated by our government. Again, you may disagree with those beliefs, because they are opinions. What you may not, however, disagree with is the fact that crime amongst illegal immigration is proportionally very small ( For all crimes, save the fact that they broke the law entering the country, much less violent ones) Smaller, and this is a fact, I repeat a fact, than the amount of crimes committed by police officers annually. That is to say the proportion of crimes committed by illegal aliens compared to their numbers is smaller than the proportion of crimes committed by police officers compared to their numbers. What does this mean? Nothing really, only that when we are discussing immigration, let us stop with the blatantly false evidence that you put forth.

It would be great if we could discuss real aspects of this debate and push ourselves to use actual reasoning. You clearly only want to cloud the issue. This is a shame because you actually take the time to espouse your own ignorance. I am not sure if this is the extent of your capabilities, in terms of critical thought, but it is very sad.

People read this and believe you. You believe yourself.

Please do the world a favor and stop. Take one second to actually look at an issue. In fact take two seconds to try to argue the other side. In doing so you will begin to get a better idea of what the parameters of this and any other issue really are. YOU HAVE A POSITION AND YOU USE YOUR STUPIDITY, (OF WHICH YOU HAVE AMPLE SUPPLY) TO DEFEND IT. DROP YOUR POSITION AND EXAMINE YOUR NEED.

TRY IT OUT. TRY TO FIND WHAT IS RIGHT ABOUT THE OTHER SIDE. DEFEND THE OTHER SIDE LIKE YOU WOULD DEFEND YOUR OWN. THEN GO BACK AND SEE WHAT EVIDENCE YOU HAVE STILL HOLDS WATER. IN THIS WAY SOME SORT OF SUBSTANTIATED TRUTH WILL EMERGE. AT THE END OF THE DAY, IT IS ALL INTERPRETATION AND COMPLETELY SUBJECTIVE, BUT AT LEAST WE CAN ADHERE TO SOME BASE LEVEL OF COMMITMENT TO INTELLIGENT ANALYSIS AND HONESTY.

ROFL – what gloriously chaotic insults and fractured thinking!!! This is the funniest statist troll comment I’ve gotten this week… you win the grand prize! I just had to post this to give readers a good laugh (I know you broke the rules, but what the heck).

I don’t think you are necessarily stupid, either, but you’re terrifically ill-informed (watching government-run news media will rot your brain) and you essentially want illegal aliens to be permitted to not be subjected to any immigration laws. You want America to be a utopia, where people can sing and hug and just be happy. Good grief, you’re ignorant. Illegal immigration is a nightmare – even legal immigrants are fighting against it. You don’t care about the billions of dollars they cost (your numbers are way off) in terms of vandalism, welfare entitlements, and a vast assortment of other crimes related to prostitution, drug trafficking, child sex slavery, rape, kidnapping, gun running, carjacking, home invasions, and murder. Islamic jihadists, members of drug cartels, and organized crime are crossing the Mexican border every day. I’ve researched and cited info on this for about a year, buttercup. You’re living in a childish unicorn world. Calling me stupid is really funny, a crackup… liberals always throw names out when they have no evidence or facts to back them up. Borders are NOT legally arbitrary, but someone brainwashed you into believing they are. Ask Iran if its border is arbitrary, or China, or Afghanistan, or Nigeria, or Pakistan, or even the president of Mexico. You’re woefully foolish and ignorant of border laws in other countries and the harsh punishments those countries impose if someone enters the country illegally. Even in France, even in Italy – illegal immigration laws are far more abusive & punitive than this Arizona law. In the Middle Eastern countries, illegal aliens are often executed as spies. I know facts drive liberals crazy, but this is the real world, kiddo – borders are real, they are not subjective or open to interpretation, even if you want to foolishly pretend they are. I recommend that you read several of the posts here (I’ve written many and I back up what I write with citations, links, videos, and reports).

Now that a strong letter was sent this past week to the LA mayor concerning the potential for cutting back or off on electricity from APS, and travel cancellations are flying in from not just AZ (San Diego is panicking), but from other parts of the country, to not vacation in California, guess it will be a real interesting showdown. Most illegal aliens don’t pay taxes, get government welfare freebies, and send the money they earn back to their countries. Income from illegal aliens is one of the top five contributors to Mexico’s economy – oil and illegal drugs are up there, too. Arizona stands to lose far less than we will gain… you can’t put a price tag on quality of life – which you can’t ask of Chandra Levy, Josie Bluhm, Robert Krentz, or thousands of other Americans (and many peaceful illegal aliens who are targeted and victimized by criminal illegal aliens, knowing they won’t report it to police) who were either killed or victimized by illegal aliens. Before he was murdered in March by a suspected Mexican drug minion, rancher Robert Krentz had been victimized by illegal aliens for years – more than a million dollars of his property, herds, and home were either stolen or destroyed by illegals. Multiple that dollar figure by just ranchers, not including all other citizens in the state, and the loss of money is staggering.

For California, Michigan, and other government officials to demand the boycotting of a state for passing a law that was approved by members of AZ state government, was written to mirror the existing federal law on immigration, was discussed openly and passed without bribes, and which is supported by a majority of AZ voters, is NOT the way to handle this. They threw the first punch with this ill-conceived, outrageous boycott – I know you wish AZ would just shut up, ignore the devastation we’ve endured for decades from illegals, just quietly take it and not stand up for itself nor enforce illegal alien laws, but too friggin’ bad.

To quote you loosely, please do the world a favor and not support criminals and criminal behavior. It’s childish liberal idiocy (which is typical of sheep-like liberals like you), and the majority of Arizonans & Americans don’t agree with your statist bleatings. You want ME to drop my conservative position and ignore my principles to embrace illegal immigration? Funny! LOL – you’re a silly little liberal troll… snowballs would have a greater chance at surviving an Arizona summer than for me to do that.

“Intelligent analysis and honesty”… you’re likely being honest in your naive, brainwashed support of illegal aliens, but you missed “intelligent analysis” by a mile. BTW – cite your source that police officers commit more crimes than illegals… that one was REALLY bizarre and out of left field. Since Phoenix is the nation’s Number 1 city for illegal-alien-related kidnappings, I suspect you won’t be able to back that claim. Because it’s a bold-faced lie.

Thank you so much for your crazy, moronic rant – laughing is so good for the soul, and you gave so much to laugh at. And you gave me an opportunity to present facts for readers they otherwise would not have had on the huge toll illegal immigration takes on the state of Arizona, not to mention the country – so thank you for that. I read that 16 or 17 other states, most recently Colorado, now are planning to implement a similar state law to curtail their illegal alien problems and financial hardships.

BTW – any further loony pro-illegal alien diatribes from you likely won’t be posted – you broke the rule about insults, buckeroo. But, gee, I may reconsider. Maybe, maybe not – it will be a mood thing. Take your chances at posting again – it’s your time to waste. And once again, thanks for the hilarious post… it made my morning. :)
