The New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) is the latest agency to crack down on illegal immigration. Youths who are arrested for crimes and are determined to be illegal aliens will now be handed over to federal immigration officials.
Efforts had been made for a number of years to rehabilitate youthful criminals, but with the case of pedophile Juan Gonzalez, the 20-year-old illegal alien pervert who raped a 6-year-old girl at an Albuquerque gym earlier this month, the policy has now been changed.
It wasn’t his first time sexually molesting children. Gonzalez had faced similar child rape charges as a juvenile, which were dropped because the judge determined he was incompetent to stand trial. He was released to his parents’ custody.
The policy change in New Mexico is not retroactive, but will be enforced starting this week.
To all you illegal alien supporters… again, the mindless rhetoric from left-wingers (and from some misguided right-wingers) that tries to paint illegal aliens as innocent victims is proven false. Mollycoddling criminals, whether they are sex criminals or illegal immigration criminals, is dangerous and naive. But pro-illegal alien groups will ignore this case, as they have so many others before it. Because they care more about clinging to their erroneous, emotional investment of protecting an illegal alien pervert than protecting children in the US.
Remember always this little girl who this monstrous predator, here illegally from Mexico, sexually attacked.

Gonzalez was arrested for raping two young girls at party when he was 15 years old in 2005. Those charges were later dismissed by a children’s court judge after Gonzalez was found to be incompetent. Gonzales was released into the custody of his parents and ordered to attend counseling. Court records that would explain the decision to dismiss the 2005 case are confidential due because Gonzales was a minor at the time.
Albuquerque police said they had another case against Gonzalez in 2008. However, charges in that case were never filed by the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s office. The DA’s office said the reasons for not filing charges are also confidential because of medical privacy laws. The mother of one of the victims in the 2005 incident, who wished to remain unidentified, said she feared Gonzalez would strike again.
“It was just a matter of time,” the mother said. “Unfortunately, this little girl had to get hurt [on Tuesday]. My prayers go out to her.”
Albuquerque police expressed frustration that Gonzalez was able to be in a position to commit the same crime again.
“We have a serial rapist out there,” Deputy Chief Beth Paiz said. “We’ve prepared three separate cases and now our fourth case, letting the justice system know what kind of human being this is. And, here we are again.”
Police realized Juan Gonzalez is an illegal immigrant Tuesday night when they checked his ID which indicated he is a Mexican national. Gonzalez will first face charges for Tuesday’s incident. He’ll be sent back to Mexico when he gets out of jail or after he gets out of prison if he’s convicted.
Here’s a different yet related story from June 2009 — Albuquerque’s “sanctuary city” policy was affecting police’s ability to question illegal aliens who were involved in crimes, including murder.

Albuquerque police arrest a third person in connection with the deadly shooting at a Denny’s Restaurant.
Mario Burgos-Rosales was being held on a $200,000 bond Wednesday. He’s charged with harboring and aiding a felon.
A criminal complaint said Burgos-Rosales drove Francisco Melgar to Phoenix and paid someone to take Melgar into Mexico.
Melgar is wanted on charges of taking part in the Denny’s robbery and shooting Saturday morning that killed a cook at the restaurant.
Police arrested two other men in connection with the case on Saturday.
The shooting has also become a political issue. One Albuquerque mayoral candidate said it’s time to change city policy, but the city said those proposed changes are already law.
Rep. Richard Berry, a Republican running for mayor, said, “While police are still investigating this crime, one thing is clear there are a couple of policies need to change to protect the citizens of Albuquerque.”
Police said Marvin Lopez-Aguilar and Pablo Ortiz, the two suspects arrested Saturday, are in the U.S. illegally.
Berry said Lopez Aguilar, Ortiz and Melgar are solely to blame for the crime, but the city’s policies aren’t helping.
“I will get rid of so-called sanctuary city policies the mayor has put into place that prohibit officers from asking suspects in crimes about immigration status,” Berry said.
Pete Dinelli, with the City of Albuquerque, said, “Mr. Berry’s accusations are either a joke, are show just how ignorant he is of the issues.”
Mayor Martin Chavez would not talk about Berry’s statements on Wednesday, instead referring us to Dinelli.
Dinelli pointed to a law on the books that allows Albuquerque police look into immigration status of suspects and he thought Berry’s ideas would head in a bad direction.
“Mr. Berry is advocating a policy of racial profiling,” Dinelli said.
Berry took on another controversial topic Wednesday saying if elected, he would work to end New Mexico’s policy of giving drivers licenses to those in the country illegally.
Sidebar: Later that month, Richard Berry was elected mayor, the first Republican mayor to be elected in Albuquerque in 24 years. Pro-illegal alien official Pete Dinelli, who with the former mayor, wanted to maintain protection for illegal aliens, was let go, and Mayor Berry selected Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White replaced Dinelli as the mayor’s appointed public safety chief, in charge of the overall public safety priorities of the Berry administration, including the police and fire departments, homeland security, and emergency preparedness. From Berry’s press release, White has served as Bernalillo County Sheriff since 2003 and was re-elected in 2006 with 63 percent of the vote. Prior to that, White headed up the New Mexico Department of Public Safety from 1995 to 2000.
Things are finally starting to shape up in Albuquerque.
Last week, Mayor Berry was able to purge the city’s controversial “sanctuary city” policy that has protected illegal aliens:

Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry declares that Albuquerque is no longer a sanctuary city.
The city has implemented a new policy that will screen every person who is arrested to see if the person is in the country legally.
At the new prisoner transport center in downtown Albuquerque, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents will fingerprint and scan suspects. Police Chief Ray Schultz said the processing facility is believed to be the first of its kind in the country.
“If you’re arrested in Albuquerque — regardless of who you are and where you’re born — if you’re a citizen or not, you will be face to face with ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] at this facility,” said Berry.
If convicted, they will serve the sentence and could be deported.
“I’m not looking at this as an immigration issue, but more as a public safety issue,” said Berry.
According to authorities, the new system found Oscar Espinoza-Cortez. He was arrested this week on suspicion of dealing heroin in Albuquerque and was deported a few months ago.
Espinoza-Cortez is now facing federal charges for re-entering the U.S.
Juan Gonzalez has also been caught. He is accused of molesting a child at a gym this month.
According to authorities, 20-year-old Gonzalez is here illegally and could get deported with this new policy.
