Climate change huckster and former vice president Al Gore’s sordid sex scandal is not going away.
Portland police have announced that they are re-opening the investigation.
From New York Post, Al Gore sex investigation to be re-opened, say Portland police:
An investigation into claims of sexual assault by former vice president Al Gore is to be re-opened, Portland police said Wednesday.
The move came after the massage therapist that accused Gore of mauling her in a hotel room in late 2006 was identified as Molly Hagerty.
In a statement Wednesday, police officials said: “The Portland Police Bureau has made the decision to re-open the case regarding the allegations brought forward against Mr. Al Gore.
“Consistent with our policy regarding open investigations, the Police Bureau will not be commenting on any additional specifics regarding this case at this time.”…
“If the complainant and the Portland Police Bureau wish to pursue the possibility of a criminal prosecution, additional investigation by the Bureau will be necessary and will be discussed with the Portland Police Bureau,” District Attorney Michael Schrunk said in a written statement last week.
On his EIB radio program on June 29, conservative talk show radio host Rush Limbaugh read aloud Byron York’s Washington Examiner article on Al Gore’s unwanted sexual advances upon the masseuse.

Rush Limbaugh on Al Gore’s Sex Scandal | June 29, 2010
Opening and closing paragraphs from the Limbaugh show’s June 29, 2010 transcript of the video posted above.
This from Byron York: “The allegation that Al Gore sexually assaulted a woman in a Portland, Ore., hotel room nearly four years ago has dealt a serious blow to the former vice president’s story that he and wife Tipper simply ‘grew apart’ after 40 years of marriage. The police report of the masseuse’s complaint is 73 pages long and extremely detailed. According to the document, she got a call from the front desk of the trendy Hotel Lucia on the night of Oct. 24, 2006. The hotel had a special guest. Could she come at 10:30 p.m.? She went to Gore’s room carrying a folding massage table and other equipment. Gore, whom she had never met, greeted her with a warm embrace. ‘The hug went on a bit long, and I was taken just a bit aback by it,’ the masseuse told police. But she went along because Gore ‘was a VIP and a powerful individual and the Hotel Lucia had made it clear to me by inference that they were giving him ‘the royal treatment.’
[...]
All right, Algore “produced a bottle of brandy and mentioned there were condoms in the ‘treat box,’” as opposed to lockbox. There was no lockbox. It was a “‘treat box’ provided by the hotel.” Anyway, the masseuse goes on to describe Algore’s sexual advances. Here’s the real funny part of this: He turned on this song, his foreplay tune on his iPod docking station… “‘Dear Mr. President,’ a lachrymose attack on George W. Bush by the singer Pink. [Alecia Beth Moore]. ‘As soon as he had it playing, he turned to me and immediately flipped me flat on my back and threw his whole body face down over atop of me,’ she said. ‘I was just shocked at his craziness.’” Now, look if you get a phone call at 10:30 at night… You’re a massage therapist, you get a phone call at 10:30 from a hotel saying, “Hey, it’s big. It’s 500 bucks,” what do you think you’re showing up…?
“Finally she got away. Later, she talked to friends, liberals like herself, who advised against telling police
Well, maybe I shouldn’t say that. At any rate, “Finally she got away,” and this is the funny party. She got away from it and “Later, she talked to friends, liberals like herself…” She asked her liberal friends what she should do. Her liberal friends… I kid you not; this is in the police report. The massage therapist’s liberal friends “advised against telling police. One asked her ‘to just suck it up; otherwise, the world’s going to be destroyed from global warming.’” If you go turn Gore in, all efforts to stop… I’m not kidding you! This is what she told the police. Her liberal friends said: Look, the guy made advances on you, it’s no big deal. Look, you gotta give him a pass on this, otherwise we’ll all be destroyed from global warming. “She got a lawyer and made an appointment to talk with authorities. She canceled and did not tell police until January 2009…” Now, contrast this. The New York Times has not reported directly on the Algore story. They just ran the AP story back on the 23rd. They have not surrounded it in their patented fashion. But contrast that. Cast your mind back. Remember that front-page, above-the-fold coverage they gave to the thinnest of innuendos about McCain having an affair back during the campaign? And they didn’t do anything on John Edwards. I just… (laughing) “Don’t report him! Why, the world’s going to be destroyed from global warming if you do that.”
From ABC News, Portland Police Reopen Al Gore Sex Abuse Allegations:
“The Portland Police Bureau has made the decision to re-open the case regarding the allegations brought forward against Mr. Al Gore,” a statement posted on the Portland Police Bureau’s website this evening said.
“Consistent with our policy regarding open investigations, the Police Bureau will not be commenting on any additional specifics regarding this case at this time,” it said.
A family spokeswoman said today that the Gores welcomed the new investigation.
“Further investigation into this matter will only benefit Mr. Gore,” Kalee Kreider said. “The Gores cannot comment on every defamatory, misleading, and inaccurate story generated by tabloids. Mr. Gore unequivocally and emphatically denied this accusation when he first learned of its existence three years ago. He stands by that denial.”
From Time, On Al Gore:
A police investigation into your private life is almost never good news. But in this case, it might be what Al Gore needs. If his firm denials are true, he’s been pinned in a miserable spot, with an accuser whose story is all over the Internet and the tabloids–but with no impartial third party capable of exonerating him. (Update: As a commenter notes, the Portland, Oregon, police looked into the allegations previously. But the investigation was dropped after the accuser stopped cooperating. Which seems to be a strike in Gore’s favor, but still hasn’t satisfied many of the people debating the case now, which is a problem for him.) Perhaps the media could play this role, but this one seems to call for legal powers; and the media’s institutions bias is generally toward proving, not debunking, scandal.
From NY Daily News:
“AL GORE SEX ATTACK!” howled the Enquirer’s front page, referring to a purported 2006 incident with the masseuse in an Oregon hotel suite.
But first came the end of his personal “Love Story,” a 40-year union with high school sweetheart Tipper.
The demise of their marriage sent shock waves through the couple’s friends and supporters early this month – and provided fodder for late-night comedians.
“Everybody is talking about it; everyone’s blogging about this,” joked NBC’s Jimmy Fallon. “I bet this is the one week where Al Gore wishes he didn’t invent the Internet.”
The bombshell was followed by word that daughter Karenna’s 13-year marriage was on the rocks. Her sister, Kristin, had filed for divorce 13 months earlier, ending her four-year marriage.
Adding to the connubial carnage, word leaked last week of a Portland, Ore., masseuse’s rambling complaint accusing Gore of “unwanted sexual contact” nearly four years ago.
The red-headed masseuse – who said she voted for Gore in the 2000 presidential race – detailed his alleged transformation from statesman to “crazed sex poodle” during a late-night massage in his hotel suite.
“He had a dramatic display of violent temper as well as extreme dictatorial commanding attitude besides his Mr. Smiley Global Warming Concern persona,” the woman says in a 67-page transcript of her interview with police.
Gore recalls getting the massage, a pal told The Washington Post, but he doesn’t remember any incident. In fact, the ex-veep believes he left on good terms with the masseuse.
Cops found a lack of evidence to back up her account. But the timing of the complaint’s release, coming on the heels of the Gores’ marital meltdown, was brutal.
The couple’s “mutual and mutually supportive” split had already prompted a spate of reports linking the ex-vice president to Laurie David, the former wife of “Seinfeld” co-creator Larry David.
Laurie David, who co-produced the Oscar-winning Gore documentary “An Inconvenient Truth,” quickly denied the rumors. “It’s a total fabrication,” she told The Huffington Post. “I adore both Al and Tipper.”
Gore, as he has through much of the messy stretch, declined to comment and kept a low public profile.
The massage episode indirectly illustrated the twists in Gore’s personal life.
When the Portland Tribune considered running a story in 2007 about the allegation, Gore’s lawyers fired off a letter declaring the one-time Tennessee senator’s marital credentials were impeccable. “You … are aware that everyone who knows Al and Tipper Gore well can and does attest to the integrity of their 37-year marriage and to his honorable character,” the letter said.
From The Powers That Be on Molly Hagerty… Nat’l Enquirer Cover Way Too Gore-y:
I’m a little surprised she revealed her identity (unless she was paid some serious coin), because she had to know that she can now expect to be buried in a libtard-alanche of retaliatory Gorebots.
