Today’s weather in Bolivia, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and Paraguay… NOT WARM OR HOT. Freezing cold.
As in “extreme freezing-your-buns-off cold, so cold that people are DYING from hypothermia” kind of cold. Record-breaking… colder in many areas than it’s been in three decades.
Just when you thought junk-science-embracer Al Gore would be mounting some kind of mumbo-jumbo counter-attack filled with bogus information against those who are still honest in the media for daring to report record cold — manmade or otherwise — he’s up against a sexual harassment case.
Shame on you, Al… what will your global warming sheeples do without their beloved climate change guru telling them how to best ignore this latest unseasonal cold front if you’re selfishly involved in a lurid sex scandal?
Not only are people dying from the record cold, but cattle, too. It’s estimated that about 1,000 head of cattle have already perished from the extreme cold in South America.

(CNN) — An intense cold front in southern Latin America continues to blanket the region, causing deaths, school and highway closures, and other woes.
A total of 18 people have died in Bolivia as a direct or indirect consequence of low temperatures, the Peruvian state-run Andina news agency reported. The deaths were spread out throughout the country.
On Monday, Bolivian officials said temperatures in the major city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra would reach 3 C (37 F), the lowest in 29 years, and in other regions the mercury dropped below freezing, Andina reported.
As a precaution, Bolivian authorities canceled school from Monday to Wednesday, the official Bolivian news agency ABI reported.
Police in Paraguay reported eight deaths from hypothermia and two from carbon monoxide poisoning from the use of heating devices. The government opened shelters for the poor, who are picked up at night by military trucks.
Paraguayan authorities also estimated that 1,000 cattle died because of the cold.
In Uruguay, local media reported two weather-related fatalities.
The cold front hit the region on Saturday and was responsible for eight deaths in Argentina over the weekend.
An area of low pressure in the southern hemisphere jet stream pushed deeper north allowing for cold Antarctic air to pool over Chile and Argentina. Below-normal temperatures are expected over the next 48 hours across the region.
Argentina reported Monday that nine of its provinces were feeling temperatures below freezing.
The intense cold will remain in the area at least through Tuesday, Argentina’s official news agency, Telam, reported.
Similarly, in Peru, the country’s southern Amazon region was experiencing the coldest weather in three years, Andina reported, citing the National Meteorological and Hydrological Service.
In the city of Puerto Maldonado, the temperatures fell to 9 C (48 F). In the Amazon region, the usual lows are in the 20s C (high-60s F).
The cold was also affecting farmers in the Peruvian city of Arequipa, in the Andes Mountains. With temperatures falling there to -17 C (1 F), the cold was too much for the region’s Alpaca herds.
Alpaca are distressed by the cold, too? Don’t they typically enjoy cooler weather because of all that heat-holding fine hair they have?
Mother Earth has not cooperated with the scare tactics and false or manipulated data of global warming zealots. While South America is in winter mode, this cold is record-breaking. Let us not forget that it was two years ago that Gore warned that the Arctic ice cap would be totally melted within five years — unless cap and trade with its outrageous mega-taxes and carbon credits was passed. He had other dire predictions in his award-winning propaganda/fictional film “An Inconvenient Truth.”
What a crock of horse puckies.
The IPCC’s role in the climate change/global warming deception is being exposed.
Reported last month at The National Post, The IPCC consensus on climate change was phoney, says IPCC insider:
The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change misled the press and public into believing that thousands of scientists backed its claims on manmade global warming, according to Mike Hulme, a prominent climate scientist and IPCC insider. The actual number of scientists who backed that claim was “only a few dozen experts,” he states in a paper for Progress in Physical Geography, co-authored with student Martin Mahony.
“Claims such as ‘2,500 of the world’s leading scientists have reached a consensus that human activities are having a significant influence on the climate’ are disingenuous,” the paper states unambiguously, adding that they rendered “the IPCC vulnerable to outside criticism.”
Hulme, Professor of Climate Change in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia – the university of Climategate fame — is the founding Director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and one of the UK’s most prominent climate scientists. Among his many roles in the climate change establishment, Hulme was the IPCC’s co-ordinating Lead Author for its chapter on ‘Climate scenario development’ for its Third Assessment Report and a contributing author of several other chapters.Hulme’s depiction of IPCC’s exaggeration of the number of scientists who backed its claim about man-made climate change can be found on pages 10 and 11 of his paper, found here.

It’s winter in Argentina. That’s why it’s cold.
Pssst, Jude – did you actually READ the full post? That was already addressed. “Record-breaking cold” is the operative term and the point to the reporting. As a reminder, the record breaking cold and snowfall that was experienced this year in China, South Korea, England, Scotland, France, the US East Coast, and other countries and parts of the United States (record snowfall in Texas, for instance) occurred in January, February, and March & broke many low-temp records – and it occurred during the winter in the Northern Hemisphere. And please do not try to awkwardly point out that it is cold in the UK and China in winter – I’ve addressed that. RECORD-BREAKING COLD, Jude, is the entire point.
I’ve written on this worldwide prevailing record-breaking cold and snow numerous times and have included numerous news & weather sources and links in previous posts… I recommend you read the full piece in the future, not just skim through it. July has not been this cold in decades in South America and in some areas, a state of emergency has been declared. Global warming junk science “experts” are keeping mum on this, crossing their fingers and hoping against hope that things will get hot again. Global warming zealots always claim that weather has nothing to do with “climate change” when it has to do with record cold, but will then quickly discard that proclamation to try to spin any incident of record heat as flimsy proof of their AGW myth. NASA & the IPCC have already confessed to tinkering with their AGW data.

Great post – I’m sure that Al Gore fans and sheeple libs are freakin out & trying to find a way to show that this A – has nothing to do with climate change, or B – this has everything to do with climate change. ROFL. Al has his sex scandal to deal with so when the ice caps don’t melt in the next three years like he said they would,he may be in prison.

From the “weather is not climate” department, more chilling news from the southern hemisphere.
A brutal and historical cold snap has so far caused 80 deaths in South America, according to international news agencies. Temperatures have been much below normal for over a week in vast areas of the continent. In Chile, the Aysen region was affected early last week by the worst snowstorm in 30 years. The snow accumulation reached 5 feet in Balmaceda and the Army was called to rescue people trapped by the snow.
In Argentina, the snow in the region of Mendoza, famous for its winery, was described by localimagemeteorologists as the heaviest in a decade. The temperature in the morning of July 16th was the lowest in the city of Buenos Aires since 1991: -1.5C. The cold snap caused a record demand for energy and Argentina had to import electricity from Brazil. Many industries in Argentina were shut down due to gas shortage.
It snowed in nearly all the provinces of Argentina, an extremely rare event. It snowed even in the western part of the province of Buenos Aires and Southern Santa Fe, in cities at sea level.
The most famous beach of Argentina, Mar del Plata, was whitened by the snow in the morning of July 15th, a scene only seen in recent memory in 1991, 2004 and 2007.

Funny how heat spells make climate change disciples use that as their proof. But if it is record cold they want everyone to know that weather and climate isn’t the same. However any liberal website will twist weather events to try to prove that junk science is real and that AGW is real. Which it is not.
Actually, nobody is “freaking out” over having global warming disproved. What we are wondering is why you are all still arguing a non issue. Global warming (as any good scientist will tell you) is EXPECTED to cause colder weather too. It is expected to cause more extreme HOT and COLD weather conditions. This information is collected over time and many different factors are taken into consideration. I do not understand this idea of a conspiracy theory or the idea that the everyman somehow knows better than 97% of climate scientists.
I’m a bit confused by this post. Isn’t it the case that as the overall temperature of the earth rises, weather will tend to become more extreme? So, wouldn’t this instance of bizarre weather along with the heat wave in Europe, “Snowmaggedon”, drought in the Southeastern United States, and the flooding in Pakistan all happening at around the same period of time, support the models climate scientists have developed? Sure, the Himalayas might not be coming down, and the earth does have temperature cycles (Little Ice Age), but this does give one pause. If the Earth’s temperature cycles normally but within a livable margin, what will human interference do?
Considering that people have been spending quite a bit of time over the last century adding greenhouse gases to the atmosphere and developing areas that would ordinarily convert said gases to oxygen, it seems a bit strange to point to an unusual weather pattern and say this disproves climate change.
First it was “there’s no global warming”; now it’s “there’s global warming, but there’s nothing we can do about it.” :/
Oh, and I just want to throw in there, *ahem* WEATHER IS NOT CLIMATE!
Much of this post was to point out the hypocrisy of global warming/climate change zealots – and some of it was to poke fun/jerk the chain of AGW extremists – I love to tick them off. Extreme heat is frequently used as their “proof” of the climate growing warmer (something that “hockey stick” charlatan Dr. Mann did just a couple months ago in a press conference), but then they uncomfortably ignore extreme cold. I decided to rub their noses in it.
Human intervention has little to do with ice ages or heat surges – we would like to think we, puny humans, can greatly influence something as complicated as climate or weather (and yes, weather IS different than climate, but AGW zealots only bring that up if it supports their “flavor of the month” claim), but not only is our influence tiny, Mother Nature can correct itself rather quickly.

But since AGW nutbars do it ALL the time with unusually hot weather to “prove” that the world is going to end because of humans’ influence, what the heck? I’ll throw it right back at ‘em with cold weather… and for their quickly switching to “extreme weather of any kind” as the newest proof is desperately trying to have your cake and eat it, too. Bogus stuff, reeking of junk science. When the EPA recently declared that carbon dioxide, a natural by-product of breathing, is a toxin or pollutant that THEY need to regulate (translation: tax, fine, etc.), you know they’ve gone into the “crazyville” deep end in their quest to add to government revenues and to control people’s lives. Years from now, we’ll all have a good laugh at how silly and corrupt our government was in the first decade of this century… but right now, it’s a real nightmare.
Al Gore’s “the end is near because of manmade global warming” predictions are laughable, but there are many people who still believe the fallacies and lack of legitimate scientific conclusions in his film “An Inconvenient Truth” – Britain has analyzed and pointed out at least NINE erroneous “facts” in the film and no longer will show that film to school children – not so in the US. Team Obama has ignored the scientific errors and omissions of Gore’s film and wants to push forward on cap and trade (Congress is backing away from it for now because of its unpopularity, but I’m sure the hydra will rear its ugly head after the elections). This has NOTHING to do with carbon emissions or rising temperatures or worry about killing off little animals and flora (if it were, heck, Obama would ground Air Force One and stop killing the planet by flying all over the country every friggin’ week… yeah, I’m kidding… or am I?). It has to do with governments the world over seeing this as a means to control people and to tax them to death. Tax big businesses to death. And who would benefit the most? Not underprivileged nations, be assured. The heads of governments would be the only ones to financially benefit.
The polar bear population has surged to five times its population 30 years ago (Gore claimed loudly, as did MANY global warming enthusiasts) that polar bears would be gone in the next few years. Yet they are FIVE times greater in population now. The Amazon is not shrinking. The ice caps are growing. The scientific data are out there that proves what liars these handful of scientists and politicians are – and the bullying techniques these thugs have used to silence those scientists who either want REAL PROOF that has been documented and peer reviewed properly or they themselves have produced startling contradictory results on similar studies.
I’ve written quite a bit (more than 30 posts) on this already – how the IPCC and others in the scientific community have cherry-picked, manipulated, omitted, or falsified data on AGW, all for the express result of proving what they want to prove, not because the conclusion is accurate. Very unethical, the biggest hoax in all of history. It’s that simple. You can’t tax people if the world is getting colder (which new data indicate is happening), but you CAN tax them if it is getting warmer. Greed based. That simple – it is all a hoax.
AGW flies in the face of the second law of thermodynamics – oops, bet Al Gore doesn’t want that law of physics information spread around, because then he won’t make gazillions off his carbon credit scam. The second law of thermodynamics, per Wikipedia, is an expression of the universal principle of decay observable in nature. It is measured and expressed in terms of a property called entropy, stating that the entropy of an isolated system which is not in equilibrium will tend to increase over time, approaching a maximum value at equilibrium; and that the entropy change dS of a system undergoing any infinitesimal reversible process is given by δq / T, where δq is the heat supplied to the system and T is the absolute temperature of the system. In classical thermodynamics, the second law is a basic postulate applicable to any system involving measurable heat energy transfer, while in statistical thermodynamics, the second law is a consequence of the assumed randomness of molecular chaos.
I don’t blame you for being confused, Lorien. Much of what has been published was based on junk science, or on papers that were later exposed as having been extremely selective in data comparison or from non-reputable sources. Even Dr. Mann can’t duplicate his damning “hockey stick,” and refuses to explain why no outside source was used for peer review and has conveniently “lost” all his original data. Penn State has exonerated him of foul play, but that suspiciously came on the heels of a whopping $1 million grant of stimulus money going to Dr. Mann during the same period. Why would they kill their golden goose? Penn State must have really struggled over that one.
So many questions, so few honest answers. And back to your original question… there is NO conclusive proof that the overall temperature of the Earth is rising nor that human intervention influenced it. None. Quite the contrary – data is available that suggests the opposite is true. And that is not due to anything humans have done, either.

As is the one about Greenpeace confessing to hyping/exaggerating anticipated outcomes on emotional issues to get more people to pay attention – they LIED to get more people to listen, peachy. Important topics for you to review are AmazonGate, HurricaneGate, ClimateGate, AfricaGate (type them in the search box) and a few others – the MSM is being suspiciously mute on all this. But it’s the liberal press, so we EXPECT them to lie or cover up facts… it’s what they do during the Age of Obama.
There is a feasible compromise. Have all the AGW zealots do what they are demanding everyone else do… have them give up eating meat, stop flying on airplanes, use “green” light bulbs, drive tiny cars, pay carbon tax penalties, etc. If after a few years, the results prove that their sacrifices made a difference in AGW, the rest of us can consider to follow suit. In the meantime, I see nothing but hypocrisy and scamming from the loudest AGW supporters – they want to mandate for others, but they themselves think the rules they want to force/impose on others don’t apply to them, because they’re special or something (just Google to analyze the monstrous size and outrageous electricity use of Al Gore’s mansion in Tennessee, as just one example).
