Washington Post reported last week news about the federal government’s wastefulness of taxpayers’ money in the name of national security. That Team Obama would be exposed like this in a national, predominantly left-wing publication is interesting, but when it comes to criticizing any Democrat administration, the military’s price tag has always been fair game for journalists to attack.

Not so for being forthright in other areas of Team O’s financial waste… rare for any liberal Democrat journalist to do a smidgen of investigation and/or exposure of the horrific waste of money in welfare programs. In exposing duplicate entitlement programs for the poor and minorities. In digging into myriad urban programs and cases of fraud that cost American taxpayers untold millions of dollars. Nope, consistent lack of interest or silence from the left-wing “JournoList” media, who are still too busy trying to find a way to hang any trumped-up racist sign on tea party attendees or find a fresh angle to concoct a reason to unjustifiably attack Sarah Palin in the press.

Left-wing media has also ignored reporting on the fiscal irresponsibility in the IRS.

It’s merely the tip of the wasteful “hopenchange” iceberg, boys and girls. And it’s BILLIONS of dollars wasted, lost, or stolen. Much like the outrageous amount of money Team Obama has already lost, wasted, or had scammed/stolen while under VP “Don’t Mess with Joe” Biden’s not-so-careful watch with billions of our stimulus/porkulus money.

The Age of Obama. Most fiscally responsible, transparent administration EVAH… not.

…The [Washington] Post and other liberal organs have been quick to record how much the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq (particularly Iraq) have cost taxpayers. But they seem much less curious about waste, duplication, and even fraud in other areas of government spending.

If they need ideas about where else to look, they can consult Martin Gross, author of a series of books about the “government racket” (that’s one of his titles actually). It may interest the Post to learn that there are 70 different programs in 13 different federal agencies addressing the problem of teen drug abuse. There are 160 different job-training programs, 50 homeless assistance programs, 27 programs to avert teen pregnancy, and 90 programs on early childhood development. According to a recent Government Accountability Office report, “at least 12 federal departments and agencies were responsible for hundreds of community development programs that assist distressed urban communities and their residents. Historically, there is but little coordination among the agencies, posing an unnecessary burden on communities seeking assistance.” To say nothing of the taxpayers.

Nor do federal departments and agencies even know where all of the money goes. In “National Suicide,” Gross recounts, “In one recent year, the federal government could not account for $24.5 billion it spent. Buried in the Treasury Department’s ‘Unreconciled Transactions Affecting the Change in Net Position,’ is the fact that the enormous sum is unreconciled — that is, it is missing.”

This is rich: The GAO also found that “The IRS could not verify $3 billion of its expenses” as the agency “had not kept its own books and records with the same degree of accuracy it expects from taxpayers.”

Medicare fraud alone accounts for an estimated $60 billion annually, according to the Wall Street Journal. A Philadelphia cardiologist convicted of defrauding the program to the tune of half a million dollars explained to a Senate committee, “The problem is that nobody is watching. The system is extremely easy to evade. The forms I sent in were absolutely outrageous.”

For those who still hang on The One’s every word and whose hearts race at the mere mention of his name, they will be thrilled to learn that Barack and Michelle are just like the rest of us — they are going through just about the same financial worries and setbacks as most American families are during the worst economic recession in three decades. Imagine that!

Really. Obama said that. And if Dear Leader said it, well, it must be true, right, liberals?

Before any liberal screams that the president deserves to go out on a date with his wife, I agree. One hundred percent. But not a grotesquely expensive date that costs taxpayers a quarter-of-a-million dollars when families across the nation are losing their homes and can’t put food on their tables. Not when the Obamas could have had a nice night out in Washington, DC that wouldn’t have racked up the costs of Air Force One and the Secret Service. Not when many husbands and wives can’t afford to go out on a modest dinner-and-movie date together… not if they want to pay their electric bill.

And most importantly, not when our nation then, and even more so now, is in the worst economic crisis its been in for more than 30 years. The billions of dollars in government waste in welfare and urban programs are just stray drops in the bucket of Obama’s failed economic/bailout/government interference programs that continue to suck the economic strength from our country.
