Democrat Alvin Greene for US Senate 2010 campaign button... get them while they're still hot

Alvin, hang in there! If Hollywood leftists can support a guilty-as-sin child rapist like Roman Polanski, then, by golly, South Carolina liberals should be holding candle vigils for you, sir. I mean, you didn’t RAPE a 13-year-old girl, just got into a weird pornography thing with a college freshman. Don’t step down, no matter how many Democrat congressional heads explode or how many threats Team Obama and their SEIU thugs make.

After all, we’re still waiting for your Alvin Greene action figures to come out on the market. Stocking stuffers, dontcha know…

From Associated Press, SC’s Greene indicted on felony obscenity charge:

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Longshot U.S. Senate candidate Alvin Greene has been indicted on a felony charge of showing pornography to a South Carolina college student.

Court records show a grand jury in Richland County handed down the indictment Friday for disseminating, procuring or promoting obscenity. The Democratic nominee was also indicted on a misdemeanor charge of communicating obscene materials to a person without consent.

Greene was arrested in November after authorities say he approached a student in a University of South Carolina computer lab, showed her obscene photos online, then talked about going to her dorm room.

Greene has not entered a plea and has refused to talk about the accusations in interviews.

He faces Republican U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint in the fall.

From Gateway Pundit, BREAKING: SC Democrat Senate Candidate Indicted on Felony Obscenity Charge:

Oh-noes… the Democrats may have thought they had a “quirky” candidate running for Senate in South Carolina in the person of one Alvin Greene. But I doubt they thought they were about to have a candidate indicted on felony obscenity charges. This is, however, what they’ve ended up with regardless.

[...]

I suppose you have to hand it to Greene. He’s a Democrat in a hurry. After all, most Democrats have the good sense to wait until they are elected before getting indicted. THIS guy is ahead of the usual Democrat curve!

From Los Angeles Times, Senate candidate Alvin Greene indicted on obscenity charges:

The South Carolina Democrat faces a felony and a misdemeanor in an incident involving a college freshman. The Democratic Party has asked him to withdraw from the race.

Alvin Greene, the unemployed veteran who shocked the South Carolina political establishment when he earned the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate in June, was indicted Friday by a grand jury on two criminal obscenity counts.

Prosecutors in Richland County allege that last November, in the computer room of a dormitory at the University of South Carolina, Greene asked a female freshman to look at an obscene image on a computer, then suggested they go to her room. The woman’s mother went to campus police, and Greene, who had graduated from the university in 2000, was identified from a photo lineup.

At his bail hearing, Greene, 32, told a judge he was “kidding” when the incident occurred. In a July interview, he said, “The whole incident is just blown out of proportion.”

One charge is a felony — disseminating, procuring or promoting obscenity — and carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000. The second is a misdemeanor — communicating an obscene message to another person without consent — and carries a maximum sentence of three years and a maximum fine of $10,000.

From Doug Powers, guest blogging at Malkin’s blog, Alvin Greene Indicted on Felony Obsenity Charges:

The Democrats will stop at nothing to get Greene off the ballot so they replace him. This news means Greene’s fully qualified to serve on a Senate SEC oversight committee, but instead Alvin’s probably going to be dispatched.

If the porn charges don’t stick, maybe Alvin has a couple of unpaid parking tickets they can send him up the river for, at least until after November.

File this one under “Friday unwanted candidate dump.”

Video encore… CNN Don Lemon’s classic interview in June with Greene, where the left-wing anchor becomes so frustrated that he asks Greene if he is mentally sound.

Butter on that popcorn?

Funny, I thought the guy was a republican (from his background/positions). Yep, there’s no doubt the obamacrats are gonna run this Uncle Tom out of town as quick as they can.

  3. I am not from SC – and I don’t buy any of the conspiracy theories on Greene. I do not think he is a Republican OR a DNC plant. I don’t think he stole the money for his filing fee and I don’t think that he is insane.

I do think that he is a grassroots candidate. The Republican party has them fairly frequently, why shouldn’t we have them on our side too? For some reason this young man, whose chance against DeMint is probably negligible is being constantly attacked by the Right and Liberal ends of the media.

I agree with the author, SC liberals (we have some down there?) should embrace Greene, and Greene should win – he almost certainly won’t, but he should — he is far closer to representing America, and even the positions of the Tea Party members, than almost anyone else on either side. He is certainly closer to the American people’s lives than Jim DeMint — protest all you like.

For the record, my direct great grandfather 12 times removed — Colonel Ebenezer Reynolds — fought and died in the Revolution to guarantee freedom to this great nation – so yes, I feel that I and my family have a stake in America. Also for the record I was a registered member of the New York State Conservative Party for the first 14 years I could vote. In my 15th year of being able to vote I figured out that all the positions that I believed in, things like personal freedom, decency and equality for all were NOT positions of the conservative movement any more – although I believe they were, at least in NY when I was 18. Since those are my political beliefs and my ONLY strongly held ones and otherwise I can sway to either side, and since it was then and is now only the Democrats that support them, I switched. We are all quite happy over here.

    Regards,

    Reynolds
