So Much for Their Bogus Claim That They Want to “Improve Relations”… Muslim Leaders Refuse to Talk with NY Governor on Controversial Ground Zero Mega Mosque (video)

Muslim leaders and Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf, the developer of the controversial 13-story Ground Zero mega mosque in New York, have claimed for a long time now that they want to improve relations, instill trust, initiate dialogue, prove to the world that Muslims do love America and they want to help the nation heal from the devastating, murderous Islamic jihad of September 11, 2001.
What a crock.
From NBC New York, Mosque Developer Rejects Meeting With Paterson:
The developers of an Islamic cultural center that would include a mosque near Ground Zero have rejected Gov. David Paterson’s offer to help them find a different site.
Paterson said today the group is apparently committed to building in the proposed site. “I think they would like to stay where they are, and I certainly respect that and I certainly respect them,” Paterson said.
But, Paterson said the dialogue would have been useful as the project has ignited nationwide debate over freedom of religion and anger over the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.. “Having said that, how much more foresighted would it have been if the Imam who is the developer of the project had been willing to hear what we are actually talking about?”
The planned $100 million center would be built two blocks from the World Trade Center site, where nearly 2,800 people died when Islamic extremists flew jets into the twin towers. The project is headed by Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf, a Muslim cleric who has worked to improve relations between Islam and the West.
And despite what the writer of the above piece believes that this controversy is about “freedom of religion,” it isn’t. No one has said that a gigantic, $100 million mosque can’t be built. It just SHOULDN’T be built in the proximity of the World Trade Center hallowed Ground Zero site. Build it somewhere else.

Oh, I truly believe that the Muslim leaders who want this center built in the old Burlington Coat Factory building are trying to make a statement and that statement would be, “In Your Face, America!” If they were that interested in improving relations with us, they would be more sensitive to the feelings of the people of New York (as well as the entire country) and find another place to erect their “community center.” And, don’t even get me started on our President’s blatant partiality to the Muslim community. Only two more years, only two more years. That’s what I keep saying to myself. And I keep hoping that he doesn’t do too much more damage to this country before he’s gone. But that’s another subject altogether.
Couple the above with the possibility that the State Department may be funding the Imams trip to the middle east, and the silence of the Clintons on the issue, and the outreach to George W. Bush to weigh in on the mosque, what should we surmise is going on here, another attempt at a scapegoat ?
