As More Americans Learn about Ground Zero Mega Mosque, More Are Opposed to It… NYC Greek Orthodox Church Destroyed on 9/11 Still Not Permitted to Rebuild or Relocate (video)

If we had been told in the weeks and months — and even years — following the terrorist attacks on America at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon by radical Muslims that, nine years later, a behemoth Victory Mosque would be built within a 3-minute walk of the WTC Ground Zero site, likely nearly all Americans would have been outraged or in disbelief. Many would have scoffed at the absurdity of the idea.

Furthermore, few if any would have likely believed nor thought it remotely possible back in 2001 that the president of the United States of America, in the year 2010, would defend and speak out in favor of a gigantic mosque casting its mocking shadow across the site where 3,000 innocent people were brutally murdered by zealous, bloodthirsty Muslim jihadists.

Well, here we are, nine years later.

And the majority of Americans are indeed outraged, according to the most recent Rasmussen poll. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi will have her hands full with her proposed investigation of the millions of Americans who oppose the GZ Victory mosque.

New poll results from Rasmussen Reports, Many More Now Following Mosque Controversy – And Don’t Like It:

A lot more voters are paying attention to the plans to build a mosque near the Ground Zero site of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City, and they don’t like the idea.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 85% of U.S. voters say they are now following news stories about the mosque planned near Ground Zero. That’s a 34-point jump from a month ago when only 51% said they were following the story.

The new finding includes 58% who are following the story very closely, up from 22% in mid-July.

Now 62% oppose the building of a mosque near where the World Trade Center stood in Lower Manhattan, compared to 54% in the previous survey. Twenty-five percent (25%) favor allowing the mosque to go ahead, and 13% more are not sure.

Sixty-eight percent (68%) of the Political Class, however, favor building the mosque near Ground Zero. Seventy-seven percent (77%) of Mainstream voters are opposed.

Before the Ground Zero Mega Mosque is ramrodded through to construction — and boy, Muslim leaders and liberal NY leaders have been trying to rush this mosque through — it bears asking: why has an existing Greek Orthodox church, one that was damaged beyond repair by a falling WTC tower on 9/11, NOT been granted permission in NINE YEARS since the September 11 terrorist attack to be rebuilt, or even be relocated?

Fox News reports on the utter hypocrisy… Decision Not to Rebuild Church Destroyed on 9/11 Surprises Greek Orthodox Leaders:

Greek Orthodox leaders trying to rebuild the only church destroyed in the Sept. 11 terror attacks expressed shock this week after learning, via Fox News, that government officials had killed a deal to relocate the church.

The St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, once a tiny, four-story building in the shadows of lower Manhattan, was destroyed in 2001 by one of the falling World Trade Center towers. Nobody from the church was hurt in the attack, but the congregation has, for the past eight years, been trying to rebuild its house of worship.

Though talks between the church and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey stalled last year, church leaders say they’ve been trying to kick-start discussions ever since. But amid debate over whether a proposed Islamic community center should go forward near Ground Zero, government officials threw cold water on the prospect of any deal with the church — telling Fox News the deal is off the table.

Confronted with the Port Authority’s verdict, Father Mark Arey, of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, said it’s the first he’s heard that.

“Negotiations did break off last year. We were expecting to hear from their lawyers — we never did. We’re still expecting to hear from them,” he told Fox News. “We’re disappointed. … 130 Liberty Street was promised to us.”
