Back from Hannity Freedom Concert… Let Freedom Ring!
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on August 30, 2010
I’m back home from my Las Vegas adventure to attend Sean Hannity’s Freedom concert — a bit physically weary, but spiritually and emotionally recharged.
No flat tires, no car breakdowns, no food poisoning, no lost luggage. Everything went smoothly… heiress Paris Hilton, on the other hand, was arrested for DUI and cocaine possesion while we were in Las Vegas.
So not a good weekend for her. Sorry ’bout that, Paris.
My son and I joined fellow conservative blogger Roxy from Diary of a Mad Conservative to attend the Sean Hannity Freedom Concert at the Orleans Hotel and Casino.
Two conservative bloggers together, discussing and venting about Team Obama and the Constitution and the DC power grab nonstop… what a blast!
On our first night, Roxy and I stayed up until 4 am (lots of java!), talking about everything under the sun as though we’d known each other for years, sharing blogging ideas and books and conservative principles and favorite columnists and everything else imaginable. We were like two teen girls at a slumber party… I paid the price of achy joints and puffy eyes the following day, but wouldn’t trade the fun and laughs for anything. I appreciate the generosity of her family letting us stay with them for a few days and thank them from the bottom of my heart. I was able to fit in a bit of posting during our extensive tour of Las Vegas (even saw some Elvis impersonators walking around) and our weekend of patriotism.
If you’ve not ever attended a Freedom Concert, and you love this country and hate what is happening to it, you must try to attend one of next year’s concerts. Being in a large venue with a roomful of patriots, listening to conservative speakers and great music is a real recharging of the batteries, a getting-back-to-basics of sharing love of country. The proceeds go to fund scholarships of the children of fallen soldiers.
This year’s lineup in Vegas included The Oak Ridge Boys (stirring opening of the National Anthem), Michael W. Smith, Lynyrd Skynyrd, talented ventriloquist Terry Fater, Harry Reid congressional opponent Sharron Angle (she spoke passionately, but seemed overwhelmed by the cheering crowd), the incomparable Col. Oliver North, and one of my favorite conservative bloggers/journalists, Michelle Malkin. I was blessed to get to speak briefly with MM before the show — she was gracious and friendly, and looked awesome with her hair swept up. Michelle is quite petite and looks much taller on television. Later during the show, she spoke about the troops and her family, who immigrated years ago to America legally.
Of course, Sean Hannity was an energetic, enthusiastic master of ceremonies. Conservative radio host and author Mark Levin was slotted to attend, but inexplicably, did not. Hope all is OK for The Great One — no explanation was given for him not being there, so I’m concerned that it could be a family or health matter.
But it’s back to business now… Pelosi, Reid, and Obama, we’re watching you.
