Huge Turn-out at DC “Restoring Honor” Rally: Glenn Beck Wore Bullet-Proof Vest for Protection Against Left-wing Radicals, Clean-up of Grounds by Conservatives (video)

From Glenn Beck, two words… “thank you.”

The immensely popular — and equally controversial — conservative talk show host discusses in the video below how moving and inspiring the “Restoring Honor” rally at the Lincoln Memorial was this past weekend, and that the numbers in attendance were downplayed by most members of the left-wing media.

CBS News shamefully/stupidly lowballed and said it was just 87,000… others have the rally attendance numbers at upwards of 300,000 or even more.

Legal Insurrection has a must-read post on the statist MSM’s erroneous photos and crowd numbers of the rally: Subliminal Deception. Also, at Real Clear Politics, there is a video of the left-wing media interviewing a black woman at the conservative rally:

Q: “I’m noticing that there aren’t a lot of minorities here today. Why do you think that is?”

A: “They’re probably over there with Al Sharpton.”

In my opinion, the exact number in attendance is not all that important. What is important is that there was a HUGE attendance, and for the hundreds of thousands of Americans who were there, there are likely millions more across the nation who were there in spirit. I know that I was there in spirit as I trekked to Las Vegas to attend Sean Hannity’s Freedom Concert.

Left-wingers have sorely underestimated the American people’s crusade against liberalism.

The crowd went absolutely wild when the late civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King’s niece, Dr. Alveda King, walked onstage. Beck calls her a “brave, brave woman.” She’s enduring vitriol from left-wingers, many of whom are black, for her conservative principles and for not jumping on the sheeple’s Al Sharpton bandwagon of racial bigotry.

Beck also admits in the video that he wore a bullet-proof vest at the rally for his wife.

From Gateway Pundit: Beck Admits He Wore Bullet-Proof Vest at Rally:

Glenn Beck admitted on his radio show today that he wore a bullet-proof vest for the Restoring Honor rally to protect himself against violent leftists.

Good move.

From Doug Powers, Michelle Malkin, ‘Restoring Honor’ at the Lincoln Memorial:

If anybody is looking for people who are “dishonoring” Dr. King’s memory today, unfortunately they’ll need look no further than the memorial to Dr. King, because the Code Pink harpies will be there:

Updated: 1:44 p.m.
Martin Luther King III will speak at King memorial. Code Pink is also present at the rally, along with other anti-war protesters. The crowd showcases a mixture of progressive/liberal causes.

Also, 2,000-3,000 showed up for Sharpton’s rally. Wow, that means that only 1/2 of 1 percent of all the people at the two rallies weren’t racists.

Should we hold our breath waiting for the MSM to point out the apparent lack of diversity at Sharpton’s rally? Didn’t think so.

Best left-wing protest sign of the day, via Big Government. Leftists still haven’t learned how to spell… way to go, SEIU!

And some more from Doug

We’re hearing a lot about people criticizing the timing of the event, calling it insensitive for having the rally on the anniversary of Dr. King’s speech — but since most of this criticism is coming from people who are calling critics of the ground zero area mosque over-sensitive, let’s move on.

From Nice Deb… she also has some great rally photos…

Don’t miss Doug Ross’ legacy media coverage round-up.

Here’s his helpful cheat sheet for the MSM, who keep getting it wrong:

These rallies focus on one fundamental concept: forcing government to honor our highest law, the United States Constitution — the greatest framework for government ever created.

We don’t give a damn about race, religion, creed, skin pigmentation or body odor (yes, I mean you, Ed Schultz), as evidenced by our rock solid support of patriots from every culture and walk of life.

We have the biggest tent of all: the freedom tent, in which government is controlled, not the individual.

You see, dimwit media, we believe in the rule of law. The Constitution. The Declaration. And you are its enemies. And very soon now you will become nothing more than a footnote to a footnote to a passing reference in an elementary school history book.

Bravo, sir!

Clean-up after the Restoring Honor rally… I’ve NEVER been to a tea party event where the grounds weren’t cleaner after the event than they were prior to the event. Conservatives are just responsible in that way, without being asked.

Take a good, hard look at the sidewalk and grass, you lazy liberals. THIS is what adults do… they clean-up after themselves. Even though hundreds of thousands were at the “Restoring Honor” rally, you’d never know it by looking for evidence of carelessly strewn garbage.

Here’s the obligatory, shameful, slothful contrast… Also posted by Doug Powers:

And here’s the Mall after Obama’s inauguration — the ironic aftermath of a party consisting of a million environmentally conscious progressives who voted in 2008 in part for a cleaner planet in order to fight climate change:

Hot Air recaps Pres. Barack Obama’s misguided opinion of the “Restoring Honor” rally in an ABC Nightly News interview:

He says he didn’t watch the rally so he may be under the impression that it was a three-hour “the socialists are coming!” Obama bash-fest. Not so; Weigel is closer to the mark in describing it as the world’s largest megachurch.” I don’t know what The One was thinking, but dismissing what ended up being a big revival meeting as a byproduct of economic anxiety is not the way to ingratiate oneself with religious voters. And I’m not sure how to take the bit about America producing fewer college grads than it used to. Is he suggesting that that’s one of the things Beck’s audience is worried about? Or is he suggesting that it’s because they themselves are ill-educated that they follow Beck at all?

One guess where POTUS was during the “Restoring Honor” rally…

From Sharp Right Turn, UPDATE: About Honor, Restoration, Unity, and Beck:

Despite the protestations of the MSM, Beck-haters, and race-baiters, Mr. Beck led a day of worship, proud patriotism, remembrance of our Founding, and the idea that we are ONE human race.

I’d say Dr. King’s Dream was alive and well on the national mall yesterday….black, white, Jewish, Christian, man, woman, child…..the Dream will live on …. but only if those who never lost their honor take the reins from a country that has collectively, and in some instances, individually, lost its honor and self-respect.

Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor rally in DC on 8/28/10, was a non-political effort to raise money for our military families while also invoking the call to turn this nation’s eyes to God, to remember the values of our Founders, and to restore the individual and national honor of the greatest country on earth. Hundreds of thousands of Americans responded by attending the rally…the crowd stretched from the Lincoln Memorial past the Washington monument. Thousands more, like myself, responded by following the events on television.

I am happy that Beck understood this it not a fully political issue and kept the event as one that was …well…honorable.

From The Daily Plunge:

Radio Silence: Gauging by the news today it’s difficult to know that a 300,000-person rally even took place in Washington D.C. over the weekend. I guess that means there wasn’t a race riot or some other event for the mainstream press cover. The story that a peaceful crowd upset with the current course of the federal government just isn’t news during an election year.

Thin Skin Watch: Imagine if President Bush dedicated time to whining about how someone the Left treated him. Say what you will about him, but he never did, nor did any of Obama’s predecessors. I guess they felt it was unbecoming of the office to do so. Of course none of our previous presidents were “community organizers,” whose only job it is to whine. President Obama wants to blame all his problems on someone else and then he’s upset that some people aren’t happy. The press didn’t seem to mind when over 20 percent of Americans thought 9/11 was an inside job. Why am I supposed to be upset that people think he’s Muslim? Has anyone in the press bothered to check out where Obama went to church for decades and question whether or not it should really be defined as “Christian”?

To those who attended the “Restoring Honor” rally, and those who were there in spirit, God bless you all.

Imitation is the highest form of flattery… kudos to Another Black Conservative for catching this amusing story: Copycats: Liberals to hold their own Beck-like rally on Oct 2.
