Today marks the fourth anniversary of Katie Couric taking over the anchor chair at CBS Evening News… it took only four years for this liberal Obama cheerleader (earning about $14 million a year) to destroy what used to be a great, credible, respected news source, but is now reduced to dismissive conservative bashing and liberal genuflection. And crappy ratings.
Good job, Katie.
Oh, and happy anniversary.
Media Research Center has a terrific recap of many of Couric’s shamefully biased, leftist moments… this one below is but one of the more memorable, gag-worthy ones where she comes across more like a simpering, infatuated cub reporter at Tiger Beat than a hardcore journalist at a major news network:

If the politicized attacks from the vicious left-wing media kept him from accomplishing what he wanted to accomplish? Man, looking at this statist hack at work, it’s a far cry easier to earn $14 million a year than I would have thought. CBS, you’re suckers if you’re paying this woman ANYTHING.

The day after Labor Day 2010 marks the four-year anniversary of Katie Couric’s assumption of the anchor chair for the CBS Evening News on Tuesday, September 5, 2006. During the week of August 16, 2010, the network news program tied it’s all-time ratings low, slipping below five million viewers.
A possible explanation of this was detailed in a September 2007 MRC Media Reality Check titled New Network, Same Old Biased Katie, that marked her one-year anniversary: “In her first year at the helm of the CBS Evening News, Katie Couric has perpetuated the bias problem that eroded CBS’s credibility under Dan Rather.” The three years that followed were no exception, as Couric actively promoted liberal figures and causes, while disparaging conservatives. From cheering on Barack Obama’s campaign and presidential agenda to smearing Arizona’s immigration law or opposition to the Ground Zero mosque, Couric has maintained her long journalistic record of liberal slant.
Prior to taking over the Evening News, Couric served as co-host of NBC’s Today from April of 1991 until her departure in mid-2006. CBS hasn’t gotten the memo that a vast majority of Americans are conservatives. If the left-wing media wants to exclude that vast majority and gear all its news stories to left-wingers, it is certainly within the network’s right to conduct its biased news provision in that manner. However… that explains partially why CBS (and MSNBC, CNN, and ABC News) have lost millions in revenue and have had to lay off employees. FOX News, on the other hand, is bursting with new viewership — while not a conservative news station (there are several moderate and left-wing commentators and much of the news is presented non-partisan), many of the political entertainers are right of center.
