Brilliant New McMahon Political Ad: “How Do You Create a Job, Dick?” Blumenthal Rambles On & On Like Someone We Know in the Oval Office (video)
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on October 8, 2010
Geez, Dick, most of us know WHAT a job is… Linda asked you HOW a job is created.
What a statist chucklehead. This is the desperate, rambling response of a Democrat government bureaucrat who’s never worked in the private sector and hasn’t a clue about “non-government” jobs.
Sounds like an Obama impersonation.
Dick Blumenthal. Can’t Create Jobs. Can’t Help Connecticut.
New political ad from business savvy Linda McMahon, who knows a thing or two about creating jobs… thumbs up.

Here’s the delicious original from Monday’s Connecticut congressional debate.
Connecticut Debate… Clueless: Democrat Senate Hopeful Dick Blumenthal Stumped on How to Create a Job
Assorted and sundry highlights from the CT debate:
From FOX News:
HARTFORD, Conn. — The New York Yankees, thin-crust pizza, the death penalty and Chris Dodd’s future — that’s what Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and World Wrestling Entertainment chief Linda McMahon agree on.
As for the rest — the two candidates vying to replace Dodd in the U.S. Senate could find very few other areas for cooperation during Monday night’s debate hosted by Fox Connecticut and the Hartford Courant. Fox News’ Bret Baier participated as moderator.
The Republican candidate, who has closed a 40-point gap in polls from January to just 3 percentage points before the debate, said while Blumenthal was working in government, she created jobs — more than 600 in the state of Connecticut. McMahon noted that she has gone bust and rebuilt, experienced the disappointment of having to lay off workers in order to strengthen a company for future growth.
She said she has used tax incentives and hard work to grow WWE, adding that it provides health and accident coverage for its independent contracting wrestlers. Blumenthal questioned why she would support jobs offshore by purchasing products from overseas manufacturers and how come her company is under investigation for allegedly misclassifying workers to avoid tax payments.
McMahon questioned why that probe started after she joined the Senate race against the state’s top cop. Blumenthal responded that he’s in civil law, not criminal.
But a sign of just how nasty the debate would be occurred hours earlier, when McMahon released a TV ad featuring clips of Blumenthal appearing to suggest he served in Vietnam rather than stateside, as a member of the Marine Reserve.
From Weekly Standard, Blumenthal & McMahon Debate in Connecticut:
McMahon, a former World Wrestling Entertainment executive, definitely stood her ground against the attorney general, as she claimed that “government does not create jobs” and pledged to repeal Obamacare. But she had trouble naming anything besides the stimulus that she would cut to save money and was hammered pretty hard by Blumenthal for claiming that, while “holding my nose,” she would have voted for TARP.
As for the character issues, Blumenthal repeated his defense that he simply misspoke when he falsely claimed (on multiple occasions) that he served in Vietnam. Blumenthal attacked McMahon for WWE’s treatment of its employees, and noted there is an ongoing investigation of the company for allegedly not providing its employees with health insurance they deserved.
McMahon hinted there may have been some connection between her campaign against the attorney general and the investigation. Blumenthal shot back that the investigation is outside of his jurisdiction. McMahon replied: “I have no comment.”
From Politico, Linda McMahon, Richard Blumenthal duel in Connecticut:
It was a soft-spoken smackdown at the first debate between U.S. Senate hopeful Richard Blumenthal and rival Linda McMahon tonight, as the pair faced off over the Democrat’s misstatements about his military service and the Republican’s tenure running World Wrestling Entertainment.
[...]
Blumenthal jabbed at McMahon’s wealth and the amount of cash she’s pouring into the contest repeatedly, prompting a sharp rebuke from her: “I won’t let you … count my money, and I won’t talk about the fact that your family owns the Empire State Building.” She sought to paint him as a career politician and a part of the larger problem nationally.
[...]
Blumenthal, at another point, accused McMahon of only working to create jobs now that we are in “good times,” instead of “when the chips were down,” a slightly discordant note given that the nation’s unemployment rate remains high.
Blumenthal accused McMahon of taking millions in tax breaks and laying off 10 percent of her work force last year, to which she replied: “Layoffs are hard; they are really tough to do, but sometimes you have to make those tough decisions to move your company forward.”
[...]
When they were able to ask each other a question, McMahon asked Blumenthal how one creates a job, and he struggled a bit, saying they’re created “in a variety of ways” with a “variety of people.”
Good grief, Dick, we’re in the worst recession with the worst unemployment we’ve seen in three decades — was your term “good times” some kind of brain disconnect? Haven’t you been paying attention to what is going on in America, in Connecticut, Mr. Attorney General?
WTNH News: No real zingers in first Blumenthal-McMahon debate | October 4, 2010
From The Daily New Canaan, McMahon, Blumenthal Face Off on Jobs:
Three words dominated Monday night’s debate between U.S. Senate candidates Richard Blumenthal and Linda McMahon: jobs, jobs and jobs. Most of the hourlong discussion in Hartford was focused on the economy, with both candidates outlining their plans to help Connecticut families in tough times.
Blumenthal said his plan was to help small businesses. Specifically, he said his policies would encourage banks to give loans to small businesses, punish companies for moving jobs overseas and create incentives for buying products made in the United States. He also promised a tax cut for the middle class, while rolling back cuts for earners in to top 2 percent.
“I’m the only candidate here who would vote immediately for a middle-class tax cut,” he said.
McMahon, however, said Blumenthal’s plan was too government-centric. She accused him of wanting to raise taxes on small business owners. Her plan, she said, would lower taxes and create more incentives for entrepreneurs to hire more staff.
“Government doesn’t know how to create jobs,” McMahon said. “We have to let small businesses create jobs.”

Great post, Vicki.
Go McMahon! I put a link to this over at WZ.
Hugz and java to you, Larry – McMahon is an amazing woman, and I hope CT voters bypass AG Dick “I Lied about Vietnam for 30 Years” Blumenthal at the polls next month. I know it’s a longshot, since CT is such a blue state.
She would do more for Connecticut’s failing economy in a month than Blumey would EVER do. Because he’s a career politician who is clueless about real life and real Americans.
