Conservative Star Parker running for Congress in California's District 37... vote out the Castro-adoring Laura Richardson, California

It’s tough keeping up with all the congressional races for next week’s mid-term elections across the country. But I’ve been keeping an eye on conservative Star Parker in California.

Impressive woman with depth, conservative values, and faith — she’s worked hard to get where she is now, to overcome and put behind her the horrific mistakes (and she made plenty) of her youth.

And she’s running against the embarrassing incumbent, Rep. Laura Richardson… all the more reason to pay attention to Parker.

Laura Richardson… good grief, where to start with this woman? She may be a perfectly nice person, but is a clueless chucklehead with little common sense or knowledge about the oppressions of third-world countries. She was stupidly dreamy-eyed and fawned all over Cuba’s aging tyrannical dictator, Fidel Castro, last year when select members of the Congressional Black Congress went on a highly controversial “Seeking Communist Rock Star” trip. Who publicly pooh-poohed the rarely talked-about, but well-known poverty of Cuba, because heck, the people there have shoes and jobs and ice cream.

Shoes.

Jobs.

Ice cream.

Yes, she really said that. Now that we’re at a year and a half later, we know just how insane and naive those comments were, how tyrant Castro has enjoyed manipulating and spying on his adoring “audiences,” how he himself has begrudgingly admitted recently that socialism hasn’t helped Cuba, that it doesn’t “work anymore.”

Cubans living in poverty and without basic freedoms in Cuba for decades under Castro’s oppressive thumb (although the CBC blamed the US instead of Castro for Cuba’s government-takeover economic disaster) would also agree.

In the 2009 video below, Rush Limbaugh covers the CBC’s Cuban trip — he discusses Richardson starting at the 2:41 mark. Audio of an interview Richardson conducted when she returned from the taxpayer-funded CBC trip follows, and her ridiculous ice cream/jobs/shoes quote occurs at the 3:06 mark.

Additionally, she said that some people in Cuba are living better than those who live in her California district. Say what???

Rush Limbaugh – Black Caucus Visits Cuba | 2009

Transcript of Richardson’s interview on meeting Castro:

RICHARDSON: What really was amazing to me as he leaned in, he looked directly into our eyes — uh, quite aware of what was happening, and said — and said to us, how can we help? “How can we help President Obama?” He talked about the fact that he had watched the campaign. You know, for people who seem to think that in Cuba people don’t have shoes, they don’t have jobs, they don’t have ice cream –I mean, these people are living and working and participating as we — as many — in fact, some were even in a better situation than in some portions of my district.

Richardson followed the spendthrift DC liberal pack of lemmings and voted YES on ObamaCare, without having read the trillion-dollar, government-mandating socialist health tax bill that the majority of Americans do not want.

Maybe she was having a Cuba flashback…

She voted YES on the boondoggle “cap and tax Americans to the grave” global warming hoax-of-the-century ripoff.

Richardson is also on the Socialists in Congress list and her personal finances are a mess (just what Californians need with an elected official in charge of their taxpayer dollars during the worst economic recession in three decades), as I’ve written before. She initially did not disclose a loan from a strip club owner when she was on the City Council. She appears, for all intents and purposes, to be a deadbeat who abandoned her home in Sacramento, letting it become a fire/rat trap and horrible blight on the neighborhood, but has had some helpful connections in not actually losing the home — reported by Michelle Malkin in November 2008:

Richardson has “defaulted six times on her home loans and has left a trail of unpaid bills in her wake”.

Just this past week, this was reported by Los Angeles Times:

The Sacramento home of Rep. Laura Richardson (D- Long Beach) has been listed for short sale, months after Sacramento County documents indicated that the congresswoman was behind in payments on the property by more than $42,000.

[...]

In a highly unusual move, the foreclosure sale was later rescinded, after a deal was reached with the auction buyer and Richardson’s bank. Neither party would discuss the terms of the agreement.

Documents from the Sacramento County recorder’s office indicate that Richardson’s home went back into default in November 2009 and that more than $42,000 in back payments was due on the property. Richardson spokesman Jeff Billington said that notice was a clerical error and the house was not in default.

The house is listed at $399,000, far below the $535,001 Richardson paid for it. The listing is a short sale, meaning the bank has agreed to let the owner sell the property for less than what is owed on it.

Richardson bought the three-bedroom, 1,639-square-foot house in January 2007, after she was elected to the Assembly. She spent only a few months in that office before winning an August 2007 special election to Congress.

Richardson received a $535,001 loan from Washington Mutual for the property, with no down payment.

Crikey, I can’t take it anymore — the appalling stench of Richardson’s leftist, elitist, “plunder-and-pillage the American people’s freedoms and bank accounts, but give ME a pass because I’m in Congress” is toxic and suffocating.

Let’s move on to Star Parker, who is, in a single word, magnificent. A sky filled with fresh ocean (or mountain, or desert, take your pick), air when compared to Castro groupie Richardson. And she’s incredibly beautiful, although that shouldn’t matter in any election.

But she IS beautiful.

Black conservative blogger La Shawn Barber has met Parker, and wrote this appraisal of Parker on Michelle Malkin’s blog some months ago:

I’ll admit my bias up front: I really dig Star Parker.

When I first met the former “welfare queen” back in 2004, it was like meeting a rock star. I shared a panel with her at a conservative student conference. I was so nervous, my voice shook. She was relaxed, funny, and informative.

In this month’s issue of World magazine, editor Marvin Olasky says Parker is running for U.S. Congress against Rep. Laura Richardson. It’s about time.

In her autobiography and in the article, Parker admits to some hard things. She’s had several abortions. She did drugs, cheated the welfare system, and committed crimes. The rough road led to a dramatic change of lifestyle and beliefs. She surrendered her life to Christ, became pro-life, and sounded the alarm against government dependency. Parker encourages those living on handouts to break the chains of poverty and find purpose and meaning in their lives.

In Uncle Sam’s Plantation: How Big Government Enslaves America’s Poor and What We Can Do About It, Parker traced the shift in America’s attitude from a belief in strong families and hard work to the flawed idea that the government’s role is to solve social problems.

Excellent video here, Parker’s bio is below.

From Parker’s impressive bio page:

Star Parker is running for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 37th Congressional District in Los Angeles County, California. She is the founder and president of CURE, the Center for Urban Renewal & Education, a 501(c)3 non-profit think tank that explores and promotes market-based public policy to fight poverty.

Prior to her involvement in social activism, Star Parker was a single welfare mother in Los Angeles, California. After receiving Christ, Star returned to college, received a BS degree in marketing and launched an urban Christian magazine. The 1992 Los Angeles riots destroyed her business, yet served as a springboard for her focus on conservative activism.

As a social policy consultant, Star Parker gives regular testimony before the United States Congress, and is a national expert on major television and radio shows across the country. Currently, Star is a regular commentator on CNN, CNBC, CBN, FOX News, and the United Kingdom’s BBC. She has debated Jesse Jackson on BET; fought for school choice on Larry King Live; defended welfare reform on the Oprah Winfrey Show, debated Michael Moore regarding healthcare reform on The View, and spoke at the 1996 Republican National Convention.

Star has written three books, “Pimps, Whores & Welfare Brats,” “Uncle Sam’s Plantation,” and “White Ghetto: How Middle Class America Reflects Inner City Decay.”

Star is a syndicated columnist for Scripps Howard News Service, offering weekly op-eds to more than 400 newspapers worldwide, including the Boston Herald, the Dallas Morning News, The Orange County Register, San Diego Union, Arkansas Democrat Gazette, the Washington Times, and the Star and Stripes, the largest paper serving the men and women of our Armed Forces. During the campaign Star’s column is on hiatus and will return in November.

No contest here. None.

Californians in District 37, please do the smart, right thing… vote out the dithering commie groupie and vote in Parker on Tuesday.

what a joke. parkers “accomplishments” are ZERO. She says things that old white guys like, and they give her money. That’s it.

She claims CURE is a charity group, but this is an outright lie. It’s a personal salary for her and her family, and it’s a sounding board for neocons and antitax nuts. Nothing more.

Quite a spin to run on character and then pretend your political advocacy group is doing charity for inner city schools.

Oh but she’s pretty and wants to deny reproductive freedom (which she herself used to the max!) by force of law, so let’s vote for her. Even though she has ZERO knowledge or experience.

I bet you wont even print this, hypocrite

Calm down… I detect strange hostility issues here, Manny — and seething racism. Maybe you can have a mojito and chill out with Castro groupie Laura Richardson. Maybe some Valium, dude… your do-nothing, deadbeat socialist WON (you did know that, right, Manny?), so what are you cryin’ about, for pity’s sake???

Richardson has done so much for her district’s prosperity and well being…. LOL. Pathetic – unemployment numbers are horrible there. And so much for the state of California…. more LOL. Land of “prosperity”… not any more. Embracing spreading the wealth like her hero Fidel… a death knell for the Golden State, as we’ve seen for the past few decades.

Enjoy your district’s dire financial troubles (assuming you do live there, but I don’t care enough to look up your IPS). Parker’s qualifications as a smart conservative trump the spendaholic socialist Dem’s any day. But sadly, liberal Californians enjoy the rapid decay of what used to be a magnificent state. What used to be the gem of the country, with all its natural resources, immense beauty, perfect weather. Then the liberals and progressives and Marxists started to gradually take over, and ruined California.

Parker should relocate to another state so she can kick butt outside the land of liberal fruits and nuts.

Oh, wait… I was suppose to NOT publish your racist, ignorant attack against Star Parker because of my hypocrisy – my bad, Manny. :)

Yawn… liberals are such childish WHINERS. Wonder how freaked out and nasty you would have been if Parker had won? Crikey, there is no pleasing liberals.

Here’s Ms. Parker’s 2008 Tax Return and Analysis. Your should research first, seems she’s still living off government funding and the non-profit is only for salary and expenses no boot strap economic development for those she claims to care about check it out not kidding.

Here’s the problem, FraudDetector: anyone can create a document like this with erroneous information and upload it to Google docs. Anyone, especially people with an axe to grind who want to smear political candidates.

Where is the link to the government source? Where are corroborating news sources?

I’ll tell you… there aren’t any. I found many suspicious typos in this “document” and many inflammatory statements and conclusions. I work with government docs on a daily basis as a technical editor. This has so many flaws in it, it reeks to high heaven of a bogus document, a contrived smear job by LIBERALS.

Supply me with a link to a REAL government site with such documentation and/or investigative reporting with evidence, and then I may consider the veracity of the information.

But using Google Docs as any kind of proof is hilariously laughable – a 7th grader could do better than that.

      • FraudDectector says:

thats her tax return with her signature I just saved in my computer analyze it you will note first page is blacked out but her signature is there but if you must i will retrieve it off the IRS again you see for yourself all gross receipts went to salaries and expenses not one dime went to job creation or lifting anyone out of poverty. i shall get you the link no problem. give me a sec so i can figure out how to get it again …. no harm no foul it’s just the truth
        best

      • admin says:

Neither of the links you provided to your Google Docs sources are of Star Parker’s tax return nor have anyone’s signature from the government or Star Parker’s.

What do you mean, “no harm, no foul”? You come in here to write slanderous information against Star Parker and then provide links that don’t support what you’re trying to prove — they are both documents that I believe YOU wrote.

Looks VERY fishy on your part, FraudDetector. The mission statement for CURE is not for “jobs creation” but “poverty awareness” and breaking welfare dependency – my contention is that you’re trying to smear this woman with half-baked innuendos and false assumptions presented as “facts.”

Typical. Looks like another liberal liar’s pants are on fire.

The Center for Urban Renewal and Education is a think-tank, NOT a welfare/employment agency, you chucklehead. CURE’s mission statement and objectives, per the website:

MISSION: Address issues of race and poverty through principles of faith, freedom and personal responsibility.

OBJECTIVE: Build awareness that conservative agenda of traditional values, limited government, and private ownership is of greatest marginal benefit to low income peoples.

        METHOD:
We explore and promote market based public policy to fight poverty.

MOTTO: The political process is to protect ones’ purposes and pursuits – not plunder them.

AGENDA: Protect unborn life, traditional mores, capitalism, parental rights and private property.

CURE does everything it says it will do . Where is the objective of this “job creation” or “lift up from poverty” you claim she never did? Uh, it’s not there – you made it up as an objective so as to slander/hurt Parker. Uh oh! You LIED.

Liars aren’t appreciated here, buttercup — I consider them vermin — so from this point forward, all your posts will be deleted into the ether with other liberals’ falsehoods unless you can provide anything other than innuendo or speculation. I don’t have time nor patience with this.

Forgot the source for you. I’m not sure about you but I am not about subsidizing non-profits for the benefit of someone just receiving a paycheck. According to Ms. Parker she’s about uplifting people out of welfare dependency and her non profit allows her not to pay taxes on income supposedly for outreach work that helps no one. Again, the best welfare program is an education and a job! Take note I didn’t resort to calling you names because my contention about Ms. Parker’s non profit is the truth. Here’s the source.

I’ve done more research — still nothing negative reported in the press.

        From the CURE website:

The increased interest to solve the social crisis confronting poor communities with new ideas has paved the way to change public opinion through target marketing. The research and development done in conservative and libertarian institutes has produced generic policy alternatives that CURE has specifically packaged to bridge the gap between the think tank world of conservatives and the political realities of blacks. CURE reaches hundreds of inner city leaders through our clergy awareness conferences, community townhalls, and church lecture series, thousands of college students through its campus lectures; and millions internationally through the mass media of television, radio, magazines and newspapers.

Our founder and president, Star Parker is a nationally recognized author, media commentator and professional speaker. She had years of first-hand experience in the grip of welfare dependency. Now, as a social policy consultant, Star Parker brings new energy to policy discussions on how to effectively transition poor people from entitlement programs. Under her leadership, the work of CURE has recognition and praise by U.S. Senators and other elected officials, leading policy thinkers, and national media giants. Since inception in 1995, CURE has become the leading black conservative think tank in the country.

Today CURE provides several integrated and innovative programs to tackle core social problems including our Policy Initiatives and our CURE.NET Clergy Forum (a membership network of activists pastors across the nation). Through these programs, CURE directly advances understanding of the principles of a moral and free society within the black community.

Travel and lodging costs, plus other expenses, for her to speak with others across the country to advance awareness and brainstorm for solutions will eat up a budget quickly. I do not see where CURE or Parker has done anything that is illegal or unethical – you seem upset that she draws a salary and also pays others, which is not all that high (salary dollar amount that I saw on the tax form is in the mid 80s range).

It appears that you have issues here and have assumed that CURE should perform acts of charity in the conventional sense, or do things that it never stated or claimed it would do. So it sounds like you’re upset by what “could be” and not “what is.” Just my humble opinion.

Here’s 2008 Tax Return you can’t make this stuff up. Again, just took a little research because by law Ms. Parker has to make public. Now as reported in the press she recently caught up on her taxes for past years and filed this a little late in 2009 for Year End 2008. So take a look it’s not a personal attack but you have to be careful when donating to non-profits. As you will see it’s all for salary and expenses, and as stated lectures about the “scourge” homosexuality on the black community. When the biggest problem in the so called community is jobs and education which are the best anti-poverty programs of them all. Jobs and education cure poverty!

After some deliberation, I’ve permitted this to be posted. You’re skating on thin ice, dear.

Accusing Parker of breaking the law because “many of them are guilty” is not proof. I’ve examined the tax return you linked to, and assuming it is indeed legitimate, what exactly is the problem with it? A think tank differs from other organizations, and based on what I know of CURE, there are no improprieties. I’m no expert on tax laws nor non-profits, so I can’t say that looking at a tax return would make warning lights go off in my head.

You feel she should create jobs and lift others out of poverty. However, that is NOT the stated mission of CURE. The organization has been created to be active in educating and addressing poverty issues created by government welfare programs. Therefore, she is in full compliance with the mission statement. I’ve searched for any news stories to back up your accusations, and can’t find any. The liberal media would have made mincemeat of her if indeed she was breaking the law, since that’s what they do to conservatives. A cover-up is not likely here.

Is it a law that the tax returns be posted on a website? Obviously, you were able to gain access to it online, but is it a mandate that she post it on her site? If not, then there is no infraction here.

You say she “helps no one.” That is an assumption with no facts to back it. If she is indeed active in the missions/objectives stated, then how can anyone claim that “no one” is helped? Welfare dependency has been proven to be an incentive killer, particularly for minorities, and government subsidies in European nations are starting to backfire. I’ve known people who are on welfare, and their mothers were on welfare, and their grandmothers were on welfare. Little has been done to break the cycle in communities and families – this is all they know, the idea of not being on welfare is foreign and frightening to them. I commend Star Parker for trying to make a difference with bringing this to the forefront. Self-dependency is key here. Using donations for salaries and expenses seems legal and reasonable for the nature of the work performed by CURE.

It’s not a Think-Tank it’s another kind of poverty pimp organization which I can’t stand. Any of them. Where are the results like the gentlemen in Harlem who started the Charter Schools which the recent movie Waiting for the Lotto is based on. Go to the link see all of the tax returns and basically it’s a front for her to get a salary.

She’s not getting her hands dirty going into the communities she assails about and creating economic vitality. It was really sickening because we didn’t know she was running for office until the last minute. I remembered her from my corporate days spouting off negative generalizations about black women. It wasn’t my experience neither my immediate circle of friends and definitely not my family where we have physicians, lawyers, accountants, police, veterans, etc, and it was an insult. Plus I had to put up with perceptions about me in that world due to person’s such as Star back then.

Bixby Knolls surely isn’t filled with “welfare” dependents, yet that was where she moved. If she had moved one year out of an election to the poorest area or @ least closer to the people she was going help to “breathe free” (her words) it may have looked more legit. I live five minutes away from Bixby Knolls and she was insulting us. So I took too much time away from work as an Event Planner and began responding on Blogs but rarely in a nasty way. Anyway you be the judge, because I can’t see how spouting off anti-homosexual screeds and generalizing that all black women are welfare cheats helps anyone’s cause.

Case in point as a product of Long Beach Unified School District in the past when I worked in Corporate American and would meet people in different situations often white people would ask me how did I learn to speak so well, not knowing that’s an insult. I speak English it should be spoken grammatically correct, that’s it that’s all, and no offense was taken because I understand that’s out of ignorance. But it recently happened again and I couldn’t believe it but I explained I am a product of LBUSD where black girls ride skateboards and surf. And we even speak in sentences that sound like a question when they’re not. LOL Star just didn’t fit in in Long Beach we’re too hard to compartmentalize.

And Admin admit it she was running for office to get a Government job of which she claims fosters dependency. In looking at those returns the funds are coming in less and she was looking for some good government bennies. You notice the irony all the people saying they don’t want the government bennies and yet they are already receiving them whether in a non-profit or receiving Medi-Care, etc. go figure.

Anyway, I like you. Could yack forever. My colleague say’s I’m OCDing. As in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. LOL

        Best to you

      • admin says:

The dependency created by the government, for some, was meant to help those who were oppressed by the social dictates of the time. For some, though, who were progressives and/or socialists, it is paramount to gaining power over a city, state, or nation. If the government gives and gives to those who don’t have, it guarantees them votes, and with the passage of time, a monopoly on the government. This then creates a cesspool of corruption – historically, it’s happened time and time again. Hitler did this in Germany prior to WWII, where the government was in control of all facets of the people’s lives, including health care – that which the government gives can also be taken away, and thus, spiraled the dependency. Welfare dependency in America has escalated and should never have become a way of life, but instead, a helping hand during limited tough times. Parker’s desire to help change things in Congress is the smart action, since most of the programs were approved and funded by congressional committees. Congress, particularly Democrats in Congress, have destroyed Detroit, which many decades ago, was an “experiment” that went awry. Government never was intended to have such power, but people being what they are, often gravitate to the power-grabbing aspects rather than the public-servant aspects. This has historically evolved to tyranny (Cuba, Venezuela, China, etc. are perfect examples) and loss of personal freedoms/liberty.

I don’t know the deep underbelly of all this drama, and it’s obvious you share history with Parker, which I don’t. However, until proven otherwise, I have tremendous respect for Parker and don’t consider her passions to get involved and into Congress to make a difference a bad thing. That’s my opinion. I see no “demon” here, although I understand your frustration that there is no accountability for results.

Good debate – sorry I snapped at you earlier. I thought you were fabricating information, and I detest those who do that to win an argument. I can see that you’ve invested a lot of your own passion and time in researching into this, so kudos to you. I just don’t agree, but that’s OK. We can agree to disagree.

G’night! Again, good discussion, enjoyed it.

Admin I remember growing up we were taught not to put our “business” in the street. Star wasn’t raised in California but came here to find opportunities in entertainment…. she wanted to be a Soul Train dancer. Evidently she made some bad life choices, and turned it into a cottage industry of degrading black women to conservative outlets and media. They lapped it up because it fit into their perception of the lazy black welfare queen. Admittedly all groups have sub groups and the black underclass is how “we” are identified. I can give you the names of successful black women who had to do it on their own after their marriages didn’t work out or a spouse died. A black schoolteacher who put her daughters through elite private black institutions. I have hundreds of accounts seriously. That is my experience, that is “our” experience. So it’s disconcerting to be defined in the image of Star because I’m a black woman.

In my circles she’s looked upon as an embarrassment by women in general of all persuasions. She’s not the only woman that got off welfare. In fact this stat is dated but during the 90′s before welfare reform the average length of stay for a mother receiving assistance in California was 18 months. You see where I’m going. I don’t think it’s very uplifting or a form of advancement to get on stage tell all your business and help feed the stereotype the all black people grew up in the projects and subsisted on welfare. Not True!!!!!!

As I was going to sleep last night I thought of the affluence in our District in this case Signal Hill. I was working on a project this morning and lo and behold my brother, my elder needed a ride home. My driveway is where he parks his some of his Limos’s for his business and he was dropping one off. He lives in Signal HIll and as we drove up Skyline Drive, I told my brother she said she was going to help our District breath free he laughed and said evidently she didn’t look upward. See link below:

I laughed and said can you believe she thought these people would vote for her. Very affluent all ethnicities. As we passed a townhouse my sisters owns I asked about her tenants, naturally he didn’t know, it’s none our business. I looked skyward and it’s all ocean. I’m not sure whom she was targeting as down and out slackers but she misjudged our community.

Another one for you while I was employed at Fortune 500 company back during those times when Star was finding herself, I was invited to a graduation party for a friends brother. Outside this beautiful mansion in View Park near Baldwin HIlls aka the Black Beverly HIlls, a valet took my utility car a VW Jetta. This black woman had worked at Pac Bell and invested wisely in real estate and owns blocks of property here in So. Calif. Her son had finished his residency and his girlfriend as well both Doctors. What I want you to know that this State is big and we have “some” blacks that are in dire poverty but we have lots that are doing very well. The brother I drove up the hill this morning, his daughter, my first niece is a physician and his girlfriend is the teacher I mentioned above one of those daughters that went to the black private college is a doctor.

So you must understand a little when we see and hear her “Minstrel” show our skin crawls. Another way to see it then maybe you’ll take down her pictures off your site, it is not good company to be in. I can give you the names of young and mature black women who are doing the damn thing and have conservatives beliefs which is mainly to get out of the condition we were socially engineered to be in the best way is through education and hard work the No. 1 CURE to poverty.

        Blessings

  8. FraudDectector says:

Didn’t see this but those incessant commercials she claimed she was going to bring jobs and self reliance to our community what a laugh have you been to the Wrigley District, Bixby Knolls & Signal Hill, there are very opulent homes there and high income earners. And the beauty of it is the gates have not all gone up and we live in a mixed community where people from all walks of life intersect and we learn not to generalize but to respect one another’s humanity.

Good on you though, I never accused her of fraud, what I did say is that she’s not effective is lessening poverty such as she claims she wants to do and also I said her tax returns have to be public by law because it’s a 501c3. But let’s say you go to Wells Fargo Foundation, there’s is available, you don’t have to hunt for it like I had to for Stars.

    Again Best Wishes!
