Mohamed Osman Mohamud, a Muslim college student, was arrested after he dialed a cell phone that he thought would set off a deadly blast at a crowded tree lighting ceremony in Portland, Oregon
Another Islamic terrorist attack, with the perpetrator shouting, “Allahu Akhkbar!” has been foiled — this time, in Portland, Oregon the day after Thanksgiving.
Mohamed Osman Mohamud attempted to “kill as many people as possible” at a Pioneer Courthouse Square tree lighting event by detonating a bomb with a cell phone. Unbeknownst to the radical Mohamud, he was part of an FBI sting operation and the bomb, thankfully, was a fake.
The Somali-born Mohamud is a naturalized US citizen and a student at Oregon State University.
Based on previous Islamic terrorist attacks and the DHS/TSA mandates that followed, will this prompt the government to submit American citizens to groin gropings and nude X-rays at tree-lighting ceremonies?

Undercover agents in a sting operation arrested a Somali-born teenager just as he tried blowing up a van full of what he believed were explosives at a crowded Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Portland, federal authorities said.
The bomb was a fake supplied by the agents and the public was never in danger, authorities said.
Mohamed Osman Mohamud, 19, was arrested at 5:40 p.m. Friday just after he dialed a cell phone that he thought would set off the blast but instead brought federal agents and police swooping down on him.
Yelling “Allahu Akbar!” – Arabic for “God is great!” – Mohamud tried to kick agents and police after he was taken into custody, according to prosecutors.
“The threat was very real,” said Arthur Balizan, special agent in charge of the FBI in Oregon. “Our investigation shows that Mohamud was absolutely committed to carrying out an attack on a very grand scale,”
The FBI affidavit that outlined the investigation alleges that Mohamud planned the attack for months, at one point mailing bomb components to FBI operatives, whom he believed were assembling the device.
It said Mohamud was warned several times about the seriousness of his plan, that women and children could be killed, and that he could back out, but he told agents: “Since I was 15 I thought about all this;” and “It’s gonna be a fireworks show … a spectacular show.”
Mohamud, a naturalized U.S. citizen living in Corvallis, was charged with attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison. A court appearance was set for Monday. Few details were available about him late Friday.

White House spokesman Nick Shapiro said Saturday that President Barack Obama was aware of the FBI operation before Friday’s arrest. Shapiro said Obama was assured that the FBI was in full control of the operation and that the public was not in danger.
“The events of the past 24 hours underscore the necessity of remaining vigilant against terrorism here and abroad,” Shapiro said. “The president thanks the FBI, the Department of Justice and the rest of our law enforcement, intelligence and Homeland Security professionals who have once again served with extraordinary skill and resolve and with the commitment that their enormous responsibilities demand.”
A law enforcement official, who was not authorized to discuss the investigation publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity, told The Associated Press that federal agents began investigating the suspect after receiving a tip from someone who was concerned about the teenager. The official declined to provide more detail about the relationship between Mohamud and that source.

According to a federal complaint, Mohamud and the “unindicted associate” used coded language in an email which the FBI believes Mohamud discussed travelling to Pakistan to prepare for “violent jihad.”

Steve provides the Pioneer Courthouse’s events calendar text, bolding the numerous times the calendar refers to the event as a “tree lighting ceremony,” not ever a “Christmas tree lighting ceremony.” At no time was any religious faith cited on the calendar’s description of the event.
Steve then zeroes in on the media’s hypocrisy (including FOX News, sad to say) and strikes hard…
This event was clearly labeled as PC compliant.
So, why are the AP and FOX News now calling the event a Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony? Are they trying to infer that the Somali ‘teen’ was so offended by a large number of people attending a Christmas Tree lighting ceremony, that he wanted to detonate a car bomb in the middle of it and kill hundreds?
It sure seems that way.
