These hate-filled people at the Westboro Baptist Church, led by zealot Fred Phelps, who plan to picket Elizabeth Edwards’ funeral are not Christians. They’ve proven that time and again with their expressed hatred against homosexuals, the military, and other faiths.
Only evil-embracing, soulless scum would invade and picket the funerals of dead soldiers who were killed while serving our country and defending people’s freedoms — while grief-stricken, weeping mothers, sisters, fathers, brothers, children, and friends are there mourning. Or make the grieving father of a fallen Marine pay their $90,000 in court costs when he sued Westboro for their reprehensible actions at his son’s funeral. While Albert Snyder, father of the late Marine Lance Corporal Matthew A. Snyder, initially won his suit, it was later overturned and the judge outrageously ordered Snyder to pay for the church’s court costs. Bill O’Reilly of FOX News stepped in and paid the court fees.
Now, Westboro members want to inflict untold pain on the children, family, and friends of Elizabeth Edwards at her funeral on Saturday. These vicious wackadoodle goons think it would be fabulous to picket a woman who has done them no harm and has endured years of pain from breast cancer and the infidelities of her philandering husband, John, before passing away on Tuesday.
Elizabeth was overwhelmed with physical and emotional pain while alive… Westboro non-Christians want to continue to inflict pain on her loved ones after her death, contrary to Jesus Christ’s teachings.
They claim that soldiers are being killed because of God’s revenge against America for its tolerance of homosexuality.
These people who claim to be conservative Christians are spiritually defective and morally bankrupt. I’m sure there is a special place in hell for them, and the intolerance and hate they’re teaching their children is tantamount to child abuse.
(CNN) – Members of the Westboro Baptist Church announced Thursday plans to picket Saturday’s funeral for Elizabeth Edwards in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Kansas-based Church – monitored by anti-hate groups such as the Anti-Defamation league and the Southern Poverty Law Center – is known for its extremist opposition to homosexuals, Jews and other groups.
The church members also oppose the War in Iraq.
According to the church’s website, members will hold a protest from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m.
Edwards, the estranged wife of presidential candidate John Edwards, died Tuesday after a six-year battle with breast cancer.
From Washington Post, Elizabeth Edwards funeral to be protested by Westboro church:
According to the Westboro Baptist Church’s Web site, the Kansas church known for its anti-homosexual protests will protest Elizabeth Edwards’s funeral in Raleigh, N.C., near the Edenton Street United Methodist Church on Saturday.
Elizabeth Edwards died Tuesday from cancer. Westboro’s Web site does not say why it has singled out Edwards’s funeral, but it regularly attends funerals of military personnel.
The Edenton Street United Methodist Church said it is aware of the planned protest, and senior staff officials are meeting to decide what to do about the issues surrounding it.
From Patterico’s Pontifications, Westboro Assholes to Protest Edwards Funeral:
Pardon my French, but they are really trying our patience as a nation.
On a similar note, about a week ago, a disabled veteran was caught “stalking” the Westboro idiots, with possible intent to murder.
Obviously, violence is not the answer. I myself have advocated giving them a taste of their own medicine, by waiting until one of them dies, and protesting their funeral. See how they like it.
You are not Christians, you idiots. You will burn in hell for what you have done.
Even though this was from a few weeks back, DrewM at Ace of Spades HQ made my day with this post… Awww: Westboro Church Van Has Tires Slashed:
The people who did this really should get what they have coming to them*.
Shortly after finishing their protest at the funeral of Army Sgt. Jason James McCluskey of McAlester, a half-dozen protesters from Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., headed to their minivan, only to discover that its front and rear passenger-side tires had been slashed.
To make matters worse, as their minivan slowly hobbled away on two flat tires, with a McAlester police car following behind, the protesters were unable to find anyone in town who would repair their vehicle, according to police…
I love that no one would fix their tires. Fine Americans in that town.
There was some talk that maybe the church’s case before the Supreme Court would be handed down today but not yet.
*Many free drinks at their favorite establishment.
The schadenfreude highlight of my week.
