When Democrats Attack & Divide: The Double Standard of Free Speech in America (video)

'Freedom of Speech' was one of four paintings in the series 'Four Freedoms' that Norman Rockwell created during WWII

Such a terrible week.

Such a tragic, emotionally draining week. One that required quiet perspective, time to grieve, time to reflect, time to hug our children, time for the nation to come together, be united in our collective sorrow… and it more than likely would have been during this horrific time in our nation’s history… had it not been for the unrepentant jackals, seizing upon the tragedy to attack the unaware conservatives in the country.

Unwilling to put aside partisan motivations, unwilling to wait until any FACTS were available, the left-wing media and blogosphere went on what looked suspiciously like an orchestrated blitz — a screaming, vengeful rampage to BLAME BLAME BLAME anyone from the right side of the political fence for the unspeakable murders committed by a leftist madman. Hate and vitriol spewed day after day, from the same politically motivated liberals who claimed they wanted all hate and vitriol stopped. Excluding their own.

Insanity. Democrats know to “never let a crisis go to waste.” And they deliberately worsened this crisis, callously increased the pain and anguish of millions upon millions of Americans just so that they could “stick it” to Limbaugh, FOX News, Beck, and to the tea party movement, and further attempt to destroy Sarah Pain.

Excellent post (as always) at Michelle Malkin’s blog, Blame Righty: A condensed history, on the hypocrisy of the left and free speech… spot-on, MM:

On Monday, as the progressive smear machine worked overtime to pin the horrific Tucson massacre on conservatives and to squelch political opposition by targeting Tea Party/limited-government rhetoric, I published “The progressive “climate of hate:” An illustrated primer, 2000-2010.”

Today’s column provides another primer for the amnesia-wracked blamestream media on just how widespread the Blame Righty meme has been over the past two years. Regular readers of this blog are well aware of this expanding litany outlined below. You are also well aware of the cunning ability of the Left to hinder exposure of this sordid history by accusing its chroniclers and whistle-blowers of “playing the victim.” Sarah Palin is the most prominent conservative to encounter this tactic, but she is by no means the first conservative public figure to experience it. Kabuki outrage over her use of the term “blood libel” is an intended distraction from the history outlined below that undergirds her message. The political speech suppressors have honed their craft long and well.

The solution isn’t to “tone it down” and turn the other cheek, but to confront them forcefully with the facts — and to fight back unapologetically against insidious efforts to diminish the law-abiding, constitutionally-protected, peaceful, vigorous political speech and activism of the Right in the name of repressive “civility.”

Malkin has much more… a must-read.

This video was compiled in 2009… sadly, it is not only still applicable, but so much more could be added to it.

Extremist Alert: When Democrats Attack Free Speech

From Legal Insurrection, The False Narrative Of Tea Party Violence Attempts Suicide:

Obama’s speech at the Tucson memorial was an opportunity thrust upon him, not one of choice.

But the tone of the speech was consistent in many ways with the Obama 2.0 we saw during the lame duck session when Obama struck a tax deal with Republicans. Coming together to get things done was the theme.

Obama had no real choice, considering the results of the November elections. But there is nothing to suggest that the tone is anything more than a convenience to consolidate Democratic legislative gains of the past two years, particularly Obamacare.

Obama may be speaking in a more muted tone, but those in the Democratic Party and the base are not. The disgusting feeding frenzy of accusations which erupted immediately after the Tucson shooting simply was the culmination of years of training, in which the first reaction of the left-blogosphere and punditry is to blame Tea Parties for high-profile acts of violence regardless of the facts.

The narrative that Tea Parties and conservatives and Sarah Palin are messengers of hate and violence has been exposed for what it always was, a lie concocted by a cabal of media elites, Democratic Party operatives and left-wing bloggers in order to stifle legitimate opposition to Obama’s policies.

While this false narrative had been exposed numerous times in the past two years, this time it was different because the horror of the shooting had captivated the nation. The narrative was not debunked months later, as in the case of Bill Sparkman, when everyone had moved on, but front and center for all to see.

The nation received an education on how the Democratic message machine works, and that lesson will not be forgotten soon.

Nobel Prize winning columnist Paul Krugman was revealed to be what he has in fact become, a completely politicized advocate who ignores facts in favor of messaging. Krugman was almost first out of the gate in blaming right-wing rhetoric for inciting the shooting, used misleading quotations to support his narrative, and refusing to budge when the facts moved against him. The Board of Editors of The Times was no better.

Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, a hero of the left since he announced he would refuse to enforce the new Arizona immigration law, was revealed to be someone who ignored the facts in front of this face and known to his department in favor of hackneyed taunts of “right wing vitriol.” That Dupnik held fast to this narrative as everyone around him jumped ship on the slur, turned Dupnik into a caricature of a politicized savant who kept repeating “right wing vitriol” over and over again because he knew nothing else.

From RedState, Together We Thrive? The Marxist Message Behind the Memorial:

Even after nearly a week of the Left’s vitriolic and unwarranted public lynching of the Right over last Saturday’s massacre by a left-wing lunatic in Tuscon, I was willing to give the President the benefit of the doubt after (by most accounts) doing well in delivering Cody Keenan’s well-drafted speech on Wednesday. Heck, even his teleprompter performed without flaw, the pauses built in right at the appropriate applause lines. Although it appears as though the Obama White House was lying in wait for an Oklahoma City Moment so the Campaigner-in-Chief could try to get his mojo back, as long as there were no Roman Candles going off, I was willing to forgive the tackiness of the T-Shirts thinking, “Okay, the perpetual campaigner has to have a campaign slogan.”

I really was willing to overlook all of that. I really was. I wanted to. I tried to. But I can’t.

Not when, this morning, I found myself reminded just how phony this President really is. It wasn’t just that the President didn’t write his own speech (most don’t anyway), and it wasn’t only that he seized the moment in a politically opportunistic way after the accusations from his surrogates were flung at everyone on the Right, from Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck, to ordinary Americans. No, that was irritating. But the last straw was learning the origins of the slogan “Together We Thrive” that pushed tolerating the narcissism over the edge.

The Tucson event was billed as a memorial to those wounded and those slain on Saturday by a deranged Marx-reading madman. While the President appeared to do his best to set a tone of reconciliation to the divisiveness and rancor his supporters and the media had caused (and are still causing) throughout the week since the shooting, the origin of the “Together We Thrive!” slogan was revealed to be nothing more (and nothing less) than a theme stolen from the Obama for America 2008 campaign—and, more importantly, the message behind the posting was one of those Marxist, Collectivist dribblings that is the cause of so much criticism from the Right over the past two years.

Posted by John Berry IV on February 11, 2008:

For too long Americans have been set one against the other, it is a side affect of a free market society. How can profits be maximized, how can I get the work done for the lowest possible costs. This continually sets one group against the other, especially in the blue collar sectors of America. It has become a part of the American Business model, whether it was indentured servants, slaves picking cotton, sharecroppers, the industrious people that built the railroads or today’s migrant workers. As long as we remain divided, fighting for the scraps that America has to offer it will be one group against the other.

What I see in Obama is a chance for a revolution. A chance for every group to participate and be heard; A chance to live the American dream that has been denied to so many. Together we can and will change the world and return America to the shining beacon of Hope and Prosperity that we were and that we can be again. Only when we work together do we accomplish feats that rival any ever accomplished in the history of mankind. Diversity is our strength, that is what this campaign brings us a promise of. For many this is a scary prospect and thought, getting to know someone different from myself. We all want the same basic things for example a safe place to live, health and a quality education for our kids.

Given that the theme was so easily identified as being part of the OFA blog back in 2008, there is little doubt that whoever the White House’s crisis campaign manager was who picked the “Together We Thrive” theme could not have read the posting below the title. This means that the White House is okey-dokey with the anti-free market message, as well as the references back to indentured servitude and slavery. There is nothing “healing” in that message.

After days of watching the Left slam the Right for the actions of a lunatic, it has become clearer than ever that Obama’s pep rally in Tucson was nothing more than an attempt to get the microphone back.

Once the flimsy fabrications and innuendos — passed off laughably as “truth” — of the mainstream media were exposed for their shameless politicizing and false reporting, the left-wing media abruptly changed course.

The right-wing wasn’t being compliant and quiet about the lies as they were suppose to — they fought back with FACTS and outrage — and the shining of the bright-hot light of truth on the liars surprised them. So, the left did what it does best. Malign and mock and destroy its opponents, which in this case, was much of America. Conservatives were told that we needed to “heal” and any kind of retaliatory, angry “rhetoric” against the onslaught of lies was unnecessary, defensive, would divide us, was anti-productive for us to “come together” — at the same time, Tuscon, as a city and community of law-abiding, grieving citizens, were scorned and attacked over and over again by the cruel media and by the ultra left-wing Pima County sheriff for being “hate-filled with vitriol.” The cultist Westboro “Baptist Church,” headed by failed, crazed Democrat leader Fred Phelps, announced they would storm Arizona and picket a young girl’s funeral.

And so, as the days progressed, utterances or evidence of truth from conservatives were labeled “hate” or “inflammatory” — or any other number of adjectives as the left-wing continued to lie and fan the flames. Hate-driven death threats across the Internet became the norm from statist zealots against Sarah Palin and other conservative pundits — as well as the tea party head in Tucson.

When Democrats attack, the devastation is horrific. The double standard of free speech in America marches to the forefront. For all to see and to be repulsed — except by liberal zealots who are oblivious to their destructive hypocrisy and the ugliness of their actions. And believe all others, except their “enemies,” are just as oblivious.

Not anymore. The elections in 2012 are coming — anticipate another shellacking of the liberals and those who don’t embrace the Constitution nor the people it serves to protect. And those who used the tragedy in Tucson for their own selfish motivations and didn’t give a flyin’ fig about how it would rip most Americans apart.

Left-wing journalists and politicians attacked former Gov. Sarah Palin (and other conservatives such as Sharron Angle, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and the Tea Party Movement) with everything they could this past week after the mass shooting in Arizona, blaming her and other conservatives for the murder of six people
