All Palin February, Day 28… this is the concluding post of the “All Palin February” tribute inspired by the snarky Dana Milburn… uh, Milbourne? Milquetoast? Milkweed? Yeah, something like that — at the Washington Post.
Last post for the month-long “Support Palin” challenge (which I totally kicked tush on, not missing one day) — but most definitely, this is not the last post on this blog about Sarah Palin.
Today’s topic — media hypocrisy.
Yes, again.
The jaw-dropping double-standard employed by liberals and the liberal media is most evident when comparing media coverage of conservatives vs. liberals… of Palin vs. Obama.
Ripped dutifully from Rule 5 of Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals”:
Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.
Sarah Palin — a few quick crib notes written in the palm of her hand, a mistyping of “repudiate” into “refudiate” in a tweet, warned that there were “death panels” in ObamaCare (Democrats yanked them out of the bill as they denied their existence — however, the “death panels” have been reportedly returned to the Democrats’ power-grabbing bill), or when she said in an interview that you can see Russia from Alaska (which you can, by the way — Palin never once said “I can see Russia from my house” — that was Tina Fey on SNL). Banshee screaming from the left-wing media, multiple lightning-bolts-shooting-from-the-eyeballs attacks and name-callings: “What an idiot, a bimbo, a Barbie doll, a racist, a tramp, a whore, a b*tch, a joke, she should die! She’s so STOOOOOPID!”
Barack Obama — misspelled “Libya” in a tweet last week (although likely wasn’t BHO doing the twittering, but a WH tweeter/staffer), used 12 teleprompters when overseas and 2 teleprompters for a sixth-grade class address, called the Cambridge, Massachusetts police “stupid” when he didn’t t have a clue what was involved with the arrest of Prof. Henry Louis “Skip” Gates (and no, he didn’t have TOTUS there to bail him out, either), publicly announced that he was celebrating “Cinco de Quatro,” that he had visited 57 states in America, with one left to go, and that the US Constitution was written 20 centuries ago — he mispronounced “corps man” as “corpse-man” twice in the same speech at a National Prayer Breakfast, took 17 minutes to answer a North Carolina woman’s question about being overtaxed (and he weirdly never answered her questions), and blames GW Bush for any of his own mistakes or shortcomings. Instead of similar outcry and denigration, it’s uncomfortable silence and/or white-washing, adoring support by the liberal media to hastily explain it all away.

This article is not about endorsing Sarah Palin for president. It is about illustrating the liberal media’s ability to brand an image. Case in point, conservatives saying Palin is not smart enough to be president.
The Left launched their “Sarah Palin is Stupid” campaign the next day after her incredible VP nomination acceptance speech. A woman, pretty, smart, witty, confident and bold with an ability to inspire and fire up the conservative base, Sarah Palin was the Left’s worst nightmare. They were livid. The only thing which could have made it worse would have been if Palin was black. The Left would have surely lost their minds.
The clarion call went out, “Palin MUST be destroyed!”
When Sarah Palin appeared on Saturday Night Live, I watched with a bunch of my conservative friends. My friends laughed and made comments such as: “This is great. It shows Palin is a good sport and doesn’t take herself too seriously.”
I thought, “This is wrong. Why help the Left sell the message to their audience that Palin is stupid?” Humor is a powerful sales tool.
The assault on Palin’s intellect intensified daily. Every word out of Palin’s mouth was dissected and placed under a microscope. Then, viewed through a lens tainted with the paradigm that “Palin is stupid”. Who amongst us could withstand our every utterance judged with such scrutiny?
Conservatives saying under their breath at cocktail parties that Palin isn’t too bright is evidence the liberal media’s branding of her has worked on some level.
Frustratingly, the facts completely prove otherwise. Palin was extremely successful as Governor of Alaska.
For crying out load, what has His Royal Obamaness achieved qualifying him to run the country? Nothing. Obama was a community organizer. He taught people they were entitled victims of an unfair America and how to extort freebies. He only served 144 days in the senate before running for president.
Obama’s presidential qualifications: He is half black and liberal. This won him 100% liberal media support and 96% of the black vote. Obama is well spoken and looked good in a swim suit.
Remember when Obama said America had 57 states? Immediately to his defense, the liberal media said, “Obama was tired.” Imagine if Palin had said the same thing. The liberal media would have gagged us with at least three days of 24/7 coverage of the story. Every report would parrot the same mantra, “This conservative woman is truly an idiot.”
While the liberal media no longer enjoys their Walter Cronkite single voice “bully pulpit,” their ability to brand a person or issue is still quite powerful. They took a man who had never run a business, state or donut shop and convinced millions of Americans he was a political leader unlike any before him. Obama was the smartest guy in the room, eminently qualified to run America and probably the world.
Brilliantly despicable, the liberal media exploited Obama’s race to get their liberal black guy elected. They deemed any attempt to subject Obama to the normal vetting procedures for one applying for the position of Leader of the Free World to be racist. Even Obama’s anti-America associates and racist pastor of 20 years did not matter.
With fake Greek columns on the set behind him, extra reverb on his voice and a teleprompter, the democrats with liberal media support branded Obama, in the minds of millions, as The Messiah. He was “The One we have been waiting for.” You could almost hear angels singing, “Ahhhhhhhhh!”
Meanwhile, without special effects, Sarah Palin truly is a super woman epitomizing everything feminists claim to wish for all women. She has achieved extraordinary success in and outside of the home. And yet, Palin is successfully branded by the liberal media, an idiot, in the minds of many.
In the meantime, this type of story about Palin, her husband, and daughter going on a humanitarian trip to cholera-stricken Haiti in December goes largely ignored — if the story was covered at all, most of the left-wing media smeared her, made her seem vain and vapid for bringing her “personal hairdresser” to the devastated nation. The “hairdresser” turned out to be her daughter Bristol who had been quickly photographed tucking a stray hair into place for her mom — the Associated Press reporter/photographer who took the photo knew it was her daughter Bristol, but deliberately, dishonestly twisted the reporting.
Surprising that CBS decided to report unbiasedly on this Palin press conference:
Is Sarah Palin presidential material? Many emphatically say “no”… many also said “no” about Ronald Reagan as president. Reagan’s liberal critics were ruthless and attacked his intelligence (and attacked his wife Nancy as well as his pro-life stance) repeatedly. GW Bush’s critics still call him stupid — when they aren’t calling him Hitler, a Nazi, or a murderer.
Think about this: We have no idea how smart Barack Obama actually is — we’ve been TOLD he’s smart, but his elementary, high school, and college grades and records are locked up tighter than Neil Peart’s favorite drum set — the public has to place its trust in the Democrat party that he was indeed a good student.
When Obama has scripted text in front of him, he does just fine as an orator and often, although not consistently, excels (provided TOTUS doesn’t act up). But, when ad libbing or answering unscripted questions, the man stammers and repeats himself incessantly, employs numerous annoying vocal tics, takes forever to get to the point (if he ever does), and frequently uses incorrect/erroneous economics or medical terms. Sometimes he alters, omits information, or just plain goofs up on citing historical facts.
Is that indicative of an idiot, of a stupid person, of someone who is not “presidential material”? I’m not passing judgment, just presenting documented, unvarnished facts and using a comparable “yardstick of intelligence” as that used by liberals on Sarah Palin — what do you think, Palin haters?
