Bomb Threats: Wisconsin News Omits That Katherine Windels, Woman Charged in Making Death Threats Against Republican Senators, Is a School Teacher (video)

ABC 27 News screen capture of death threats from Katherine Windels, a 26-year-old teacher, against Wisconsin Republican senators
So much for the age of civility and balanced media… when will the leftists at MSNBC or Media Matters cover any of this?
In Wisconsin, a 26-year-old woman has been charged in sending death threats, via emails, to WI Republican senators because of their support of Gov. Scott Walker’s budget bill.
What Wisconsin news sources have conveniently omitted in much of their coverage is that Katherine Windels is a SCHOOL TEACHER.
A pre-school and kindergarten teacher.

WI Teacher Charged, Not Arrested, in Death Threat Case
Notice in this Wisconsin news account below that Windels’ occupation is never mentioned.
From Green Bay Press-Gazette, Wisconsin woman Katherine Windels charged for threats to state senators:
MADISON — A Wisconsin woman accused of emailing death threats to GOP state lawmakers during the Capitol debate over the collective bargaining law was charged Thursday with two felonies.
Katherine Windels, 26, was charged with two counts of creating a bomb scare, along with two misdemeanor counts of computer-based threats to injure or harm. The charges carry a combined maximum penalty of 7.5 years in prison.
The criminal complaint accuses the Cross Plains woman of sending two emails to senators threatening to shoot them and plant bombs around their homes.
The first message sent March 9 to Sen. Robert Cowles of Green Bay said the sender and others had decided to kill the Republican senator by “arriving at your house and putting a nice little bullet in your head,” the complaint said. The email also claimed the group had planted bombs around the senator’s house and car and the Capitol building.
A similar email with the same threats was sent to other Republican senators two hours later. Both emails chastised the lawmakers for voting earlier that day for the budget repair bill, which strips most public employees of collective bargaining rights. The emails also praised Republican Sen. Dale Schultz of Green Bay, who was not sent a threat, as “heroic” for voting against it.
The emails were sent from a computer account that appeared to belong to someone named Lisa Patterson. Police contacted Patterson, who said she didn’t set up the account, the complaint said.
Authorities eventually tracked the computer’s IP address — the unique number assigned to every computer that connects to the Internet — to Windels’ parents. Police approached Windels, who allegedly admitted she sent the emails but said she never meant to carry out the attacks.
From Milwaukee-Journal Sentinel Journal… again, there is no mention of Windels being a teacher:
Madison – A 26-year-old woman was charged Thursday with two felony counts and two misdemeanor counts for allegedly making email threats against Wisconsin lawmakers during the height of the battle over Gov. Scott Walker’s budget-repair bill.
Katherine R. Windels of Cross Plains was named in a criminal complaint filed in Dane County Criminal Court.
According to the criminal complaint, Windels allegedly sent an email threat to State Sen. Robert Cowles (R-Green Bay) March 9. Later that evening, she allegedly sent another email to 15 Republican legislators, including Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau).
The subject line of the second email was: “Atten: Death Threat!!!! Bomb!!!” In that email, she purportedly wrote, “Please put your things in order because you will be killed and your families will also be killed due to your actions in the last 8 weeks.”
“I hope you have a good time in hell,” she allegedly wrote in the lengthy email in which she purportedly listed scenarios in which the legislators and their families would die, including bombings and by “putting a nice little bullet in your head.”
According to the criminal complaint, Windels told investigators “I sent out emails that I was disgusted and very upset by what they were doing.”
CBS News has the story — nothing about Windels being a school teacher. Likewise with the news story posted by CNN.
Perhaps these liberal news sources will eventually update their coverage to give the full, despicable picture of a Wisconsin TEACHER threatening to murder elected officials… or not.
And the liberal press wonders why Americans distrust the media so much.
From Hot Air:
News reports identify her as Katherine Windels of Cross Plains, Wisconsin, but don’t say too much else about her. James Simpson’s piece linked above notes that Jim Hoft and Underground Conservative did a little digging and discovered a Katherine Windels of Cross Plains of the same age (26) who teaches children in pre-school and kindergarten. The picture in her MySpace (update: no longer can be viewed except by “friends”) and Peek profiles looks remarkably similar to the WKOW mugshot (from 2004) used in the story, and it would be a very strange coincidence indeed to find two women of the same exact name, age, and appearance in a town of less than 4,000 people.
From Maggie’s Notebook, Katherine Windels Charged in Bomb Threats Against Wisconsin Republicans:
Katherine Windels, a 26 year old “Early Childhood” teacher, is charged with two felony counts of creating a bomb scare via emails to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and 16 other Republicans in the legislature. Windels says she didn’t really plan to kill any of the ‘Republican dictators.’ Lovely to have your young child in her class, huh?

The Underground Conservative now has his/her own, very first Memorandum thread, and has a link to the criminal complaint and a screen shot of Windels profile on PeekYou. The Other McCain says a local radio station is charging that the DA’s office has been slow in investigating threats” against the lawmakers who actually represented the people of Wisconsin and continued working as all 14 Democrats sat on their fannies across state lines. In fact, the Dane County District Attorney complained that Windels had not yet been served.
From Habledash, Wisconsin Union Teacher Charged with Sending Death Threats to Republicans:
The situation in Wisconsin can be summarized in one word: insurrection. We reported on the activist liberal judge, Maryann Sumi, that ruled to halt Governor Scott Walker’s bill that reduces the collective bargaining rights for thug labor union members. Last night, Katherine R. Windels of Cross Plains, Wisconsin was charged with two felony counts for a bomb scare and threatening injury or harm. There is a connection between the death threats and court case and it involves Dane Country District Attorney Ismael Ozanne.
Ismael Ozanne is that radical [who] filed the lawsuit to block implementation of Walker’s budget repair bill. Yet on March 23, the Department of Justice, who referred the death threats to Ismael on March 18, learned that he had cited clerical and administrative issues on the reports. Ismael didn’t act on the investigation because he was too busy pushing his agenda and using the hack in a black robe, which he knew would halt the bill. The DOJ cited their lack of concern in the death threat investigation. Click here to read the DOJ’s statement.
From The Other McCain, New Motherf–g Tone: Wisconsin Woman Arrested for Death Threats to Republicans:
The Underground Conservative reports that Windels is — wait for it — a pre-school teacher. Charlie Sykes at Milwaukee talk radio station WTMJ had complained that the district attorney’s office was dragging its feet in investigating death threats against Wisconsin Republicans. (Via Memeorandum.)
Why is the media withholding/remaining silent about Windels being a Wisconsin teacher?
I believe Calvin Freiburger at NewsRealBlog and with Hillsdale Forum nails it… Oh, Good: Left-Wing KINDERGARTEN Teacher Threatens to Kill Wisconsin Republicans:
Granted, as new details about wrongdoers trickle out, it’s only natural that some outlets will catch wind of them sooner than others. But there’s reason to suspect there’s more to the media’s delinquency here—in a March 19 post on Newsradio 620’s website, George Mitchell publicizes an email exchange with Sentinel managing editor George Stanley on the paper’s lack of coverage of the protestors’ less-savory antics:
Stanley responded, “Both sides are demonizing each other with deliberate, dishonest propaganda….You reap what you sow.”
I asked, “Are you suggesting that the behavior of Walker supporters is comparable to that of his opponents?” He replied, “I don’t ‘suggest’ like you, George. I didn’t say a word about behavior or go to your links. I prefer honesty to bullshit.”
I replied, “You use the word “propaganda” and say “both sides” are guilty. Death threats. Nails in the driveway. Obscene graffiti. The list goes on and on. This amazing and unwarranted conclusion apparently is how the MJS rationalizes not covering the story.”
I asked Stanley if I could quote him, as I wanted to submit an op-ed to the paper. He said, “No, you’re just full of shit, that’s all I’m saying.”
Yeah…I mean, it’s not as if we just had a prolonged media circus about alleged right-wing incitement of violence, prompting the President of the United States to call on all Americans to strive for greater civility or anything…and it’s not like the fact that a woman who told politicians their families were going to die is entrusted with the education of small children has much relevance to a debate about the condition of Wisconsin’s education system…
This case tells us a great deal about the Left. First, the fact that Sarah Palin might as well have personally driven Jared Loughner to Gabrielle Giffords’ doorstop, yet we haven’t heard a peep from the civility police about this, or numerous other stories of left-wing civility to come out of Wisconsin, speaks to their utter insincerity about the state of American public discourse. Second, while the average teacher isn’t a nut like Windels, the nation’s public schools have a higher share of refuse—political and otherwise—than many are willing to admit—as Megan Fox wrote on March 8, “the public school system, which is about the same size as the Catholic Church in America with a school in every parish, has more sexual abuse cases in ten years than the Catholic Church has had in fifty.”
Why? Because America’s educational establishment sees teaching as a vehicle for ideological indoctrination rather than a sacred duty to raise the next generation of virtuous, independent, well-adjusted citizens, and because union rules insulate their members from accountability.
Thankfully, Windels was caught before carrying out her death threats, even though she claims she wasn’t going to actually murder anyone. She was, uh, just angry.
Yeah, that’s what the bad guys all say when caught, isn’t it?
If liberal extremist Windels had been a tea partier, though, making death threats like these against Democrat lawmakers… we know how the media coverage would have differed.
Update… a portion of Windels’ chilling emailed threats (and it’s been uncovered that this is not the first time she’s sent threatening emails) posted at Big Government — I’ve left the many misspellings and grammar errors alone as they were written by Windels, a teacher:
WE want to make this perfectly clear. Because of your actions today and in the past couple of weeks I and the group of people that are working with me have decided that we’ve had enough. We feel that you and the people that support the dictator have to die. We have tried many other ways of dealing with your corruption but you have taken things too far and we will not stand for it any longer. So, this is how it’s going to happen: I as well as many others know where you and your family live, it’s a matter of public records.
We have all planned to assult you by arriving at your house and putting a nice little bullet in your head. However, we decided that we wouldn’t leave it there. We also have decided that this may not be enough to send the message to you since you are so “high” on Koch and have decided that you are now going to single handedly make this a dictatorship instead of a demorcratic process. So we have also built several bombs that we have placed in various locations around the areas in which we know that you frequent.
This includes, your house, your car, the state capitol, and well I won’t tell you all of them because that’s just no fun. Since we know that you are not smart enough to figure out why this is happening to you we have decided to make it perfectly clear to you. If you and your goonies feel that it’s necessary to strip the rights of 300,000 people and ruin their lives, making them unable to feed, clothe, and provide the necessities to their families and themselves then We Will “get rid of” (in which I mean kill) you.
Please understand that this does not include the heroic Rep. Senator that risked everything to go aganist what you and your goonies wanted him to do. We feel that it’s worth our lives to do this, because we would be saving the lives of 300,000 people. Please make your peace with God as soon as possible and say goodbye to your loved ones we will not wait any longer. YOU WILL DIE!!!!

Does anyone other than me see the gross irony of it all? For years we are told that the millions of people who listen daily Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, etc. are all being turned into little Timothy McVeighs (and no one never even bothered to prove that McVeigh was a right-wing talk-radio listener, but hey, why ruin a good politically-motivated myth?)
But in fact, it’s been the complete opposite. Only left-wing rhetoric has created violence in this country as of late:
It’s left-wing socialist class-warfare rhetoric—amplified and propagated by prominent liberal politicians and compliant mainstream media—that incite angry mobs to break store windows, vandalize buildings, and torch police cars during last June’s G20 summit in Toronto.
It’s left-wing socialist class-warfare rhetoric—amplified and propagated by prominent liberal politicians and compliant mainstream media—that incite angry mobs to shatter store windows; vandalize private businesses and banks; and hurl paint , firecrackers, and lightbulbs filled with ammonia at police, just this past week in London’s Trafalgar Square.
It’s left-wing socialist class-warfare rhetoric—amplified and propagated by prominent liberal politicians and compliant mainstream media—that caused union thugs and protestors of other liberal stripes to converge upon the private residences of individuals they don’t like and terrorizing their families trapped inside. Such victims have included Karl Rove, AIG executives, and, most recently, John Boehner and Wisconsin state Republicans.
It’s left-wing environ-mental-ist rhetoric—amplified and propagated by prominent liberal politicians and compliant mainstream media—that caused one James Jay Lee to hold hostages at the Discovery Channel’s Maryland headquarters because its environmental programming wasn’t alarmist enough in his view.
It’s left-wing environ-mental-ist rhetoric—amplified and propagated by prominent liberal politicians and compliant mainstream media—that inspired “Unibomber” Ted Kaczynski to hold hostages.
It’s a combination of left-wing socialist class-warfare and environ-mental-ist rhetoric—amplified and propagated by prominent liberal politicians and compliant mainstream media—that incited someone to send a mail bomb to an oil executive during the height of the BP oil spill, injuring his wife when she opened the package.
It’s left-wing anti-war rhetoric—amplified and propagated by prominent liberal politicians and compliant mainstream media—that caused the streets of major cities around the country to be fouled with the most vicious and hateful slurs toward George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and Condaleezza Rice.
It’s left-wing anti-war rhetoric—amplified and propagated by prominent liberal politicians and compliant mainstream media—that prompted “peace activists” to commit violence towards our brave military, such as vandilizing military recruitment centers, banning ROTC’s on college campuses, and even fragging (the act of subordinate military personnel to shoot their own superior officers.)
In my opinion, Katherine R. Windels did a stupid thing. And she should be punished for it. But let’s not pretend her actions are not the result of a mindset created by constant bombardment of left-wing ideas: Hatred toward “the rich,” hatred toward “traditional values,” hatred toward the Founders and Founding Documents, hatred toward war (unless it’s a war started by a Democrat) .
In short, Windels is the result of what happens when left-wing rhetoric goes unchecked.

Excellent examples provided here, EricTheRed, kudos for your digging and your compelling points based on facts – however, I’m not sure that I agree with infringing on the First Amendment, though, even for deranged, potentially dangerous leftists.
As much as I hate the vitriol rantings and lies of the disingenuous left (are we missing Keith Olbermann yet?), and their fabrications and spewings likely are influencing different individuals with weak reasoning capabilities or intelligence, the First Amendment provides freedom of speech, even protecting that which offends us, for all. Death threats, however, are NOT protected by the Constitution, no matter who makes them. I also have a real problem with “hate speech” laws.
As conservatives, we must be diligent to prevent the Constitution from being usurped to further limit speech, because that sword cuts both ways.
Point one — I’ll bet you pitched a bitch when the same was said about right wing rhetoric and Jared Loughner. How unbelieviably hypocritical of you!
Point two — Where is it written that Ms. Wendel is a leftist?
Hmm… you believe I’m a hypocrite because I decried that Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, and the entire tea party was accused for weeks to be the instigator of a mass murder in Tucson by a madman who had NO affiliations with any of them, vs. my reporting on a seriously unhinged teacher in Wisconsin who is being charged in lodging DEATH THREATS against Republican lawmakers.
Do a search, I’ve documented this political bias and deceit many times, cited umpteen sources and posted videos many times – I consistently denounced the political lies of the left-wing, the bogus “connect the dots” smear campaign they launched against Palin and other conservatives, their vicious attempts to involve Palin in Loghner’s madness and his long-time documented hatred of Giffords.
You’re confusing “hypocrisy” with “telling the truth,” Janet, a common malady of many leftists. The Tucson shooting accusations and this woman who has been charged for making documented death threats are nowhere similar to each other.
The “right-wing rhetoric”? You mean when conservatives wouldn’t be silent about exposing the groundless accusations, the lack of any evidence when on the left-wing news stations, they spewed lies about the tea party members 24/7 being somehow connected to the shootings. When the overwhelming evidence came in that the tea party/Palin were not connected in any way, the media didn’t retract their accusations, didn’t set the record straight, didn’t apologize for leaping to unjustified conclusions. Just silence. You seem to be upset that conservatives stood up against the falsehoods, refused to be meek and wanly smile about the disgusting false claims made by Democrats — liberals called it “uncivil” that conservatives denounced the liars, they were suppose to be polite and gutless. If this is what you mean by calling me a hypocrite… well I’m guilty as charged.
You asked: Where is it written that Ms. Wendel is a leftist? If you read the liberal news, you’ll also see that NONE of them wrote that she was a preschool teacher, which is obviously pertinent to this case. If they’re frantic to bury that information, well, wake up and smell the coffee.
Here are enough substantiated facts to bolster my implied assertion (I personally never identified her as a left-winger, if you read the entire post, you’ll see it was from cited sources). I’ve already exposed how the media has buried that Katharine Windels is a teacher. If I’m proven wrong — if indeed this loser teacher who sent threats about bombs and killing politicians’ families is a CONSERVATIVE — I will denounce her and update my appraisal of her (something that left-wingers never do).
Here is how I deduced her ideological leanings:
* A majority of conservatives support Gov. Walker’s budgetary efforts – most conservatives understand the need for government fiscal responsibility and decreasing government handouts. Most liberals do not understand on either point.
* She has held jobs in Wexford Head Start and The Red Caboose, per her social network pages, which are predominantly left-wing arenas – yes, some teachers at Wexford Head Start and The Red Caboose are likely conservatives, but the vast majority of those under 35 are not.
* When her taxpayer-funded teacher union goodies were endangered, when she found out she would have to start contributing to her benefits package like most American workers do, she felt fully justified to threaten people and their families with death. Her emails are proof positive, and death threats are a tactic liberals often take. She even set up a special email address from her parents’ home to send her threatening emails.
* If she was a conservative making these death threats, the leftist media would have included it in the first paragraph or in the article’s title. If there was even a remote chance she was a conservative, they would have reported that she was until proven that she wasn’t.
* If she was a Republican making these death threats, see above.
* Her death threats were directed against Republicans.
* Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne who has dragged his feet for weeks on this case is a Democrat.
Individually, each is a smoking gun. Collectively, it’s pretty compelling. And this is FAR more hard evidence and cold facts than the leftists and the Soros-run media EVER produced about the Tucson shooter being influenced by Palin’s online election map with little targets on it.
But yes, I “could” be wrong. If I’m proven wrong and you are right, that she is a conservative Republican (and I’m doubtful that I will be proven wrong), I’ll man up about it and admit my mistake.
Will you, though, if it comes out that she’s a liberal? Didn’t think so.
Until then… if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck…
as it is obvious that ALL computers have their own ‘passeport’, and if the police decide to, they can identify the owner/user of the machine.
why are there not more prosecutions for this abuse.
why are the carriers of placards calling for the death of anyone, not prosecuted for incitement to murder.
its a racing certainty, that if the KKK rhetoric was to be revived and carried in processions.
the ‘race-industry’ and naacp would be up in arms. as to why nothing is being done about racists.
or could it be, that only ”whitemen’ can be racist, the rest are just politically active.
you guys have got some serious problems when teachers, who are supposed to prepare children to be usefull citizens,
can behave like this, without being fired off the job
I’ve not heard anything about her being fired – YET – but if enough people in Wisconsin learn about this, and call to complain about this wacko teaching little children — and this isn’t the first time she’s sent out threatening emails — we may have news of it next week. Hopefully, sanity will prevail and this horrible woman will be removed from being an instructor of little kids.
Why she isn’t arrested for threatening to murder lawmakers and their families is baffling and disturbing. Perhaps more will come to light on Monday.
Thanks for the link
This is certainly a disgrace for the media, but what I really want to know is whether or not this will finally be enough to get Republicans in elected office to fully recognize that the Left is at war with them.
If it doesn’t, Calvin, woe to us and woe to them in 2012. The freshmen Republicans in Congress, like Rubio and West, are about the only ones I’m hearing about fighting back. And of course my favorite MN pol, Michele Bachmann. Too many Republicans are ignoring or back-pedaling on what they promised to voters in 2010, and if they don’t start revving it up soon… I’m impressed by Gov. Walker not letting the thugs in the unions and the death threats from teachers and other government workers stop his efforts to balance the WI budget.
Wow, thanks for popping in — I love your writing and your mind, Calvin!

Student Teacher at Practicum Experiences
After School Program Teacher at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church
Practicum experiences at Orchard Ridge Nursery School, Meeting House Nursery School, Wexford Head Start, and Red Caboose Nursery School.
Looks like private sector experiences to me, but heay, don’t let that ruin your circle jerk.
Jonathan, the hostility in your post is weird (you’re SO obviously a liberal) – take a deep breath and bring it down a few notches – leave the immature male masturbation colloquialisms out. You came “this close” to having your comment vaporized… read the rules. Your only warning – this ain’t the Daily Kos, bro.
Here are the links I provided in the post (did you read any of it?), of which LinkedIn is not included – you obviously are struggling with reading, Jonathan: MySpace and PeekYou. These both now redirect to pages that they did NOT direct to when this was originally posted a few days ago. (Yes, I did review both). Likely Windels was bombarded with readers and has made changes to her social network pages, since I was not the only blogger who cited them and this post has had high traffic. She may be under more heat for her death threats as a result. I have no idea where the LinkedIn source you posted is from; you have to be a member to view the page you provided the link for, so I’m guessing, Jonathan, you’re a member. I have no interest in joining.
Sorry, buckeroo — Head Start is NOT private sector, unless they ripped off the name from the federally funded preschool program. And even if all her work places ARE private sector, that doesn’t mean she’s not a liberal or the preschools don’t have liberal leanings… just ask Bill Gates. It also appears that from the links on their website that Red Caboose receives some kind of government funding. But enjoy your strange, silly hissy fit – you seem more upset over where she has worked than her vile death threats, her inability to spell, her obvious mental instability.
Regardless of whether she’s a conservative or liberal (I’m going with the latter) or a Republican or Democrat (again, the latter), this woman has NO business teaching small children. She’s a deranged loon. No caring, attentive parent would let her come within 20 feet of their child – and if they have their children enrolled in her preschool/kindergarten class, would yank them out in a heartbeat.
If she is a conservative Republican, as I’ve said before, I’ll still denounce her. Which I know leftists would, too – as they should. What she did was indefensible and frightening (again, did you read the entire post, Jonathan?). But if she’s a liberal Democrat, you and your kind will quickly change the subject, find some fruitcake reason to justify her death threats, or just be mute about it. And then find another conservative blog to vent on. Because you tend to judge someone’s actions by the letter “D” or “R” after their name on a voting ballot, rather than by the action itself. You know I’m right, Jonathan.
It’s also come to light that her father is either a psychiatrist or nurse practitioner, for whatever that’s worth.
She’s not a kindergarten teacher. She’s a child-care provider and was a preschool teacher.
You are likely right, in that it now appears that she is not an accredited public school kindergarten teacher. However, she listed Red Caboose as one of her jobs, and kindergartners are included their program. From their website:
She shouldn’t be near ANY children, of ANY age.
