It was only a matter of time that Venezuelan tubby-tyrant despot Hugo Chavéz would start lecturing his nation’s citizens on eating less. He’s begun channeling his inner “Nanny State Michelle Obama.” No matter that too many women are already afflicted with poor self-images and eating disorders, anemia, anorexia, and bulima, are rampant for young people in the US — no word on Venezuelan young people.
Not to mention that Chavéz is no Slim Jim by a long shot.
Do as I say, not as I do…
Chavez is also railing against women getting breast implants. More meddling by government socialists…
Reported by SpinPort News, Hugo Chavez’s latest health tip:
Venezuela’s president, Huge Chavez, strongly encouraged the country’s citizens to eat less to preclude the possibility of obesity. In his weekly radio and television program on Sunday, he said “Be careful with weight gain!” He added that it has been proven that Venezuelans were eating better, and malnutrition was now a thing of the past, “but be careful with obesity.”
This is just the latest edict he has issued with regards to lifestyle. Since he assumed office in 1999, he has preached against what he considers vices fueled by capitalism.
He has previously adopted a position against breast implants, complaining that some doctors convince women that if their breasts are not large, they ought to feel bad. The nation’s Plastic Surgery Society says 30,000 Venezuelan women have such an operation every year, and one candidate for the 26 September elections to the National Assembly staged a raffle where the prize was breast implants.
From Scotty Starnes’s Blog, Ironic? Overweight Hugo Chavez tells Venezuelans to watch those calories:
Nothing like an overweight nanny-state socialist telling the masses to watch their weight.
CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — President Hugo Chavez urged Venezuelans on Sunday to cut their calories to avoid obesity – the latest lifestyle recommendation by the self-proclaimed socialist crusader.
Chavez has lobbied in recent weeks against what he calls the evils of capitalism, including alcoholism, breast implants and violent television programs.
“Be careful with weight gain!” warned Chavez on Sunday, speaking during his weekly television and radio program. “We are eating better, that’s been proven. We’re leaving malnutrition behind. It no longer exists in the country, but be careful with obesity.”
I’m guessing Hugo doesn’t allow mirror’s in his palace.
From FactReal, OBESITY: Hugo Chavez and Michelle Obama Want You to Lose Weight:
Following Michelle Obama’s footsteps, Marxist dictator Hugo Chavez said that he will launch a campaign to promote healthy food.
On Sunday, Chavez told Venezuelans to eat less fatty food and reduce their calories to avoid obesity. “Be careful with your weight!” Chavez warned Venezuelans during one of his infamous long ramblings on TV. “Watch out for obesity, which is quite noticeable and if not careful it can become chronic.”
Chavez blames capitalism for alcoholism, violent television programs, breast implants… and for destroying life on Mars.
“Blames capitalism for alcoholism” — because there is NO alcoholism in Russia, right, Hugo?
We also have THIS guy blaming McDonald’s for him being overweight. Rotund NYC City Councilman Leroy Comrie — a Democrat, of course — blames Happy Meal toys on why he’s so darned HUGE.
Therefore, the councilman is leading a brigade to ban toys in fast-food meals so that children won’t grow up to be overweight like he is. Even though one would think he would be of an age now to take responsibility for his current-day eating habits. Gotta blame the toys…
No word on Comrie’s opinion on women getting breast implants, however.
