Blabbermouth: VP Biden Blabbed about Navy SEALs & Osama bin Laden Mission to the Press… Is Joe a Security Risk?

VP Joe Biden blabbed to the press that it was Navy SEALs Team 6 that took down Osama bin Laden, despite White House efforts to keep that information out of the international news for security reasons | Photo credit: Free Republic
Just a heartbeat away from the presidency…
This new security-risk blunder is reminiscent of when Vice Pres. Joe “Gaffe Machine” Biden just couldn’t keep his mouth shut and stupidly blabbed to the press the secret location of Dick Cheney’s bunker while at a Gridiron Dinner in May 2009 — Biden spilled potentially classified information that was meant to save the life of a vice president.
He’s freakin’ done it again — this man is a menace and an idiot.
From The Telegraph, Joe Biden opens his mouth about US Navy SEALs:
Since President Barack Obama announced that “a small team of Americans” had killed Osama bin Laden, US government officials have carefully stuck to the line that they will not talk about which units were involved.
Obama did not say it was the SEALs. In numerous television appearances, Obama’s counter-terrorism chief John Brennan didn’t and his deputy national security adviser Denis McDonough didn’t. Despite the numerous news reports that named the SEALs, none of the anonymous briefers from the CIA and Pentagon would confirm it.
Enter Crazy Joe…
But here’s what the legendarily verbose and loose-lipped Vice President Joe Biden said at a dinner at Washington’s Ritz Carlton Hotel last night to mark the 50th anniversary of the Atlantic Council:
Let me briefly acknowledge tonight’s distinguished honorees. Admiral James Stavridis is a, is the real deal. He can tell you more about and understands the incredible, the phenomenal, the just almost unbelievable capacity of his Navy SEALs and what they did last Sunday.
And:
Folks, I’d be remiss also if I didn’t say an extra word about the incredible events, extraordinary events of this past Sunday. As Vice President of the United States, as an American, I was in absolute awe of the capacity and dedication of the entire team, both the intelligence community, the CIA, the SEALs. It just was extraordinary.
From Slate, White House Goes Silent on Osama Raid:
It looks like the White House is done revising its account of the U.S. mission that killed Osama Bin Laden.
President Obama announced Wednesday that he would not sign off on the release of gory photographs of Bin Laden’s corpse, and White House officials said that they would give no new details about the raid on the al-Qaida leader’s secret compound in Pakistan, the Washington Post reports.
What remains to be seen, however, is whether administration officials will be able to follow through on their vow to keep their lips sealed and, if they do, who will fill the information vacuum created by their silence.
Even if the White House is able to keep an official lid on the handful of officials who have been speaking to the media on and off-camera they still run the risk of public slip-ups. The odds-on favorite for such gaffes is likely Vice President Joe Biden, who earlier this week accidentally let slip the fact that the mission was conducted by an elite team of Navy SEALs, something that had been widely-reported but that the administration had taken great pains to avoid confirming.
From The Lonely Conservative, The Village Idiot Leaked it was Seal Team 6 that Took Out Osama:
I found it kind of strange that the public was informed that SEAL Team 6 took out Osama Bin Laden. I thought that was the sort of information kept under wraps, not to be released for years. Perhaps that was the plan in this case, but then Vice President Joe Biden opened his big mouth. Someone needs to get that guy a muzzle.
[...]
Um, wasn’t Biden chosen to be Obama’s VP because of his vast foreign policy experience?
Who knows, maybe it was by design.
From Dallas Blog, Biden Blabs SEALs’ Commander’s Name of Osama Mission:
Well, it’s a good thing President Barack Obama didn’t inform Biden details of the Osama mission on the Friday beforehand. The United States of America military would have been embroiled in the Pakistani version of the ‘Bay of Pigs.’ Would Biden’s conduct be considered an impeachable offense?
From Sundries Shack:
I’m no national security specialist, but I’m pretty sure the Vice President shouldn’t be blabbing about the awesome work out super-secret special forces team did at some rubber chicken dinner.
Way to go, Joe.
UPDATE: Blue Falcon Alert… profanity alert warning, but this BlackFive post covers how Obama may be throwing our courageous SEALs under the Team Obama bus by not defending their actions against liberals and al Qaeda sympathizers that are calling them murderers. A snippet that is PG-rated:
Sure, Obama is content to accept the congratulations from the media and his supporters for his “gutsy” decision, but when the rubber meets the road he says, “Hey thanks SEALs for killing bin Laden like I told you to. But you didn’t expect me to stand behind you when my left wing media starts going after you as murderers? Oh you did? How cute.”

So 2 days AFTER dozens of news outlets announced it was Navy Seals responsible, including Sean Hannity on Fox News on May 2nd, it’s Joe Biden who “leaked” it?
He was the first from the White House to officially blab about it and the media ran with it after that. Prior to that, it was just speculation by journalists. Anything coming from the White House makes it official. Unless the White House changes the story or elements of the story several times, anyway (which has happened with alarming regularity this week). At least, that’s my understanding.
THis administration is just a bunch of rookies. They may be trying to do thier best but if they don’t know what to do, it may be useless.
