The meeting with Netanyahu didn’t go as Obama had planned… the man vs. the man-child.
Of course, the Soros ultra-left-wing, anti-Semitic Media Matters is now calling Netanyahu “a terrorist.” Yet, Media Matters has an aversion of calling proven Muslim terrorists “terrorists.” Meh.
Elsewhere on the statist front, the left-wing radical group Code Pink wants Obama to dump Israel. Unofficial Obama adviser and anti-Semitic Code Pink founder Medea Benjamin is well known for cozying up to terrorists and is allied with enemies of the U.S. and Israel, as I’ve written about before. Another meh.
Summary of the meeting between PM Netanyahu and Pres. Obama, from PBS Hour:
President Obama welcomed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House Friday, one day after the president’s policy speech on the Arab world and Israeli-Palestinian relations called for a return to pre-1967 borders, a state Mr. Netanyahu called “indefensible.” After a closed door meeting, Netanyahu reiterated that “Israel has certain security requirements.”
Allahpundit at Hot Air sums up the meeting between Prime Minister Netanyahu and Pres. Barack Obama in his own inimitable style — Netanyahu lectures Obama on why Israel’s 1967 borders are indefensible:
Normally these Oval Office grip-and-grins begin with a few minutes of blah-blah from the president about America’s enduring bond with the other leader’s country, followed by a minute or so from that leader about the “productive discussion” they just had, and that’s it. Not this time: Netanyahu takes off here for a good seven minutes, parts of which are so cutting — the conclusion about history not giving the Jewish people another chance is simply devastating — that it’s hard to believe it was extemporaneous. In fact, by the end he’s facing Obama and addressing him personally, just to add to the theater. Bibi knew this would be his golden opportunity to pay Obama back for yesterday’s speech, and darned if he didn’t seize it. It’s riveting. O was probably completely blindsided by it too, but no doubt realized quickly that this little history lesson would soon go viral in the media and online. Hopefully no meaningful agreements were reached earlier in their private meeting, because if they were, you can forget about ‘em now.
Shalom v’Emet.
Obama, Netanyahu Meet Amid Discord Over 1967 Borders
From Jeff Dunetz, Big Government, The Democratic Party Should Be Ashamed of Itself!:
The Democratic Party should be ashamed of itself. Today its members proved themselves to be nothing but partisan hacks who care more about party politics than doing the right thing. While President Obama’s speech regarding Middle East generated much criticism from Republicans, on the Democratic side, even amongst supporters of the Jewish State, there was either positive spin or total silence.

There is not much doubt that at the end of a deal, the two parties will exist with borders somewhere near that armistice border. In fact Israel has offered specific maps of final borders along the lines of what the President said publicly today, once under the Premierships of Ehud Barak the other under Ehud Olmert (in both of those cases the Palestinian leadership rejected the offer).
The difference is that in both of those cases, The return to those”1967 borders” was the end point of negotiations, yesterday Obama severely damaged Israel’s negotiating position by making it the staring point.
Obama took it upon himself to made a unilateral concession on behalf of Israel. There was no negotiation; he gave away a bargaining chip that was not his to give. Should Israel give in Obama it will actually make negotiations more difficult because Israel will have to fight harder on other issues, some of which might otherwise had been easy concessions. If Israel fights Obama on the issue, things might get a bit dicier in the region. Israel’s neighbors might see it as giving attacks on the Jewish State legitimacy.
From Aaron Goldstein, American Spectator, Since When is Obama Above Criticism?:
John Guardiano informs us that he is “taken aback” by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s “disrespect for President Obama.”
Disrespect for Obama?
If anyone is guilty of disrespect it is Obama towards Netanyahu. It was just over a year ago when Obama had Netanyahu over at the White House to dress him down over the settlements and to add insult to injury he told the Israeli Prime Minister to show himself out. And now this broadside?
As I have noted here, in a matter of seconds, President Obama went from stating the United States could not impose peace to demanding that Israel retreat to the armistice lines of the 1948-1949 Israeli War of Independence. Under the circumstances, Prime Minister Netanyahu would have certainly been taken aback. He is fully within his right to demand an explanation from Obama on behalf of the people of Israel.
Conservative radio talk show host Mark Levin asked this week, “Why does Obama hate Israel?”

Excellent, well-researched post today at Maggie’s Notebook — here’s the opening, be sure to visit the site to read it in its entirety… Israel’s Pre-1967 War Borders: What They Mean – The Reality:
Barack Obama said the way to peace between Israel and Palestine is for Israel to move their borders back to the pre-1967 Six Day War lines. Such a dishonest stance for any person, world leader or not, is astonishing, unless you support the demise of Israel. Here is a simple, truthful and easily understood reminder of those borders – usually, and conveniently ignored by those who accuse Israel of “occupying” Palestinian territory.
From Camp of the Saints, The Leader Of The Free World Schools Little Barry Obama:
Leader Of The Free World, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today gave King Barack The Unready a lesson today in how to be a leader of a free country and delivered a gentle, yet firm, rebuke to the man-child who, in a speech yesterday, threw Israel under the bus [sources say the bus is owned by BHO and, therefore, is a short bus]…
[...]
And Barry be hatin’ on anyone that likes The United States Of Amerika.
-In his speech yesterday, King Barack The Unready announced that his idea of peace involves Israel being setback to its 1967 borders. This would mean that part of Jerusalem would no longer be part of Israel and would be under the control of Hamas [ie: Jihadists].
From Riehl World View, Dear Bibi:
Just a bit of unsolicited advice, Bibi – don’t expect too much from the Leftist clown in the White House, or our mostly sycophantic press. We in America have learned that bitter lesson over the past two years. Outlasting him and ignoring them is about the best option we’ve got right now.
From Jake Tapper, ABC News, In Oval Office, Bibi Offers History Lessons to Obama:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seemed to think he needed to educate President Obama on some issues today, so in the Oval Office he described in some detail to the president a history of the refugee problem in the region dating back 63 years, as well as his view on the need for Israel to be able to defend itself in the context of thousands of years of Jewish suffering.
“We don’t have a lot of margin for error,” Netanyahu said to the president. “Because, Mr. President, history will not give the Jewish people another chance.”
Netanyahu, whose father is a retired academic, offered the president repeated history lessons, saying Jews have “been around for almost 4,000 years. We have experienced struggle and suffering like no other people. We’ve gone through expulsions and pogroms and massacres and the murder of millions. But I can say that even at the dearth of — even at the nadir of the valley of death, we never lost hope and we never lost our dream of reestablishing a sovereign state in our ancient homeland, the land of Israel.”
Yesterday, President Obama angered Netanyahu by — for the first time — stating as a matter of U.S. policy that “the borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states.”
President Obama acknowledged this disagreement today, saying “obviously there are some differences between us in the precise formulations and language, and that’s going to happen between friends.”
President Obama invited reporters into the Oval Office after he and Netanyahu had spoken one on one for more than an hour and a half. Their discussions went past the scheduled time allotted to the point that they canceled their working lunch.
From Atlas Shrugs, The Muslim World Smells Blood:
Clearly the Muslim world thinks America has abandoned Israel and that she is on the ropes. Here they are demanding that Obama enforce his final solution for Israel, “the rogue regime.” Rife with filthy lies: “Israel continues to get away with murder.” The Muslims smell blood and understand that Obama is working for them. They want action.
A must-read at American Thinker: Media Shielded Voters from Obama’s Israel Intentions — opening paragraph:
When President Barack Obama publicly endorsed the Palestinian view of Israel’s future this week, he took many Americans, including many of his Jewish-American supporters, by surprise. Had the media been doing their job, he would not have surprised anyone.
From Gateway Pundit, Rocker Gene Simmons Slams Obama on His Anti-Israel Policy: “He Has No F**king Idea What the World Is Like” (Video):
In an interview with CNBC’s Jane Wells, rock n’ roll singer Gene Simmons slammed President Barack Obama on his proposal to weaken Israel in support of the Hamas-Fatah alliance.
“How about you live there and try to defend an indefensible border?… He has no f**king idea what the world is like.”
UPDATE: A few noteworthy quotes on Obama, Netanyahu, and Israel, from Rush Limbaugh’s radio show on Friday:
“Obama obviously thought he was talking to a Republican, and he thought Bibi was gonna be like your average Republican: Just sit there and take it, and try to be nice, and not say anything, and let Obama get away with it all.”
“Wouldn’t you love to be a fly on the wall in the Oval Office today when Netanyahu shows up there? A fly with a great comprehension of Hebrew cuss words.”
“Apart from his betrayal of Israel, the thing that struck me most about Obama’s speech, he talking as if the United States was still the biggest mover and shaker in the world, when he doesn’t want it to be.”
“Is there any doubt, folks, that when it comes to the Palestinians and the Israelis, Obama’s got an affection for the Palestinians? There’s no question about this.”
“What would make the Middle East better off, no Iran or no Israel? Of course the answer is the Middle East would be profoundly safer — profoundly improved, profoundly better — if there were no Iran. But guess what the objective is in the Middle East? No Israel.”
