Lib-Style “Civility”: Vile Left-wing Extremist Ed Schultz Calls Laura Ingraham a ‘Slut’ on His Radio Show, Suspended Indefinitely by MSNBC, Ed Finally Apologizes (video)

Posted By on May 26, 2011

Ah, so how’s this new “age of civility” working out thus far?

Not so well for liberals, most particularly for leftist blowhard, vitriol-spewing Ed Schultz — on his radio show Tuesday, he called conservative pundit Laura Ingraham a “slut.”

Twice.

'Age of civility' FAIL: Leftist Ed Schultz called Laura Ingraham a 'right-wing slut' on his radio show Tuesday

Ingraham’s response on her Facebook page:

Re. the crude comments made about me by Ed Schultz on his radio program: First, I was surprised to learn that Ed Schultz actually hosted a radio show. Is it only available online? Second, I have to get back to recording the audio edition of my new book “Of Thee I Zing.” Now I’m tempted to insert one additional zing–about men who preach civility but practice misogyny.

Notice how MSNBC’s ultra liberals like Chris “Tingles” Matthews and the now-fired madman Keith Olbermann are joyless men, rage-filled misogynists who throw ugly sexist epithets at conservative women with alarming regularity.

Makes you wonder: Is this in the MSNBC job description for its national talk show hosts?

For his despicable sexist name-calling, Schultz has been suspended by MSNBC “indefinitely.” Since his “Ed Show” is among one of the lowest rated on the cable network (he is beating out HLN’s Joy Behar, however, but that’s not saying much), this might be the perfect opportunity for MSNBC to rid themselves of his loony butt. I’m merely speculating, but from a business standpoint, Schultz is an embarrassment, a creaky, leaky dingy on the sinking Titanic.

From TPMDC, UPDATED: MSNBC’s Ed Schultz Calls Radio Host Laura Ingraham A ‘Right Wing Slut’:

MSNBC host Ed Schultz is known for his hyperbolic attacks on Republicans but it looks like he may have crossed the line on his show yesterday by labeling Laura Ingraham a “right wing slut.”

“President Obama is going to be visiting Joplin, Mo., on Sunday but you know what they’re talking about, like this right-wing slut, what’s her name?, Laura Ingraham?” he said on his radio show. “Yeah, she’s a talk slut. You see, she was, back in the day, praising President Reagan when he was drinking a beer overseas. But now that Obama’s doing it, they’re working him over.”

The epithet against conservative radio host Ingraham, which was first flagged by The Daily Caller, is quickly making the rounds online. TPM reached out to representatives for MSNBC and Ed Schultz for comment but did not immediately get a response. A spokesman for Ingraham told TPM she had no comment at this time.

This isn’t the first time Schultz has gotten into trouble for bashing the right. Earlier this year he apologized for calling Republicans “bastards” during his TV show. Given the even greater severity of his remarks on Tuesday, it seems likely an apology — at the very least — will follow soon.

Ed Schultz Calls Laura Ingraham a “Right-Wing Slut”

Ed finally apologized for calling Ingraham a “slut.” What a prince.

Good meaty stuff and past videos on other Ed rants at The Other McCain… Robert Stacy McCain opines on Ed saying it was the “lowest of the low”:

The lowest of the low so far, you mean. When your contract runs out and MSNBC dumps you like a sack of stale garbage, then you might get to the lowest of the low: Standing by an expressway off-ramp, holding up a sign: “WILL HATE FOR FOOD.”

Reporting of the apology from FOX News, MSNBC’s Ed Schultz Off Air Indefinitely After Calling Radio Host Laura Ingraham a ‘Slut’:

Radio and TV host Ed Schultz used the opening segment of his MSNBC show Wednesday night to apologize for calling radio rival Laura Ingraham a “right-wing slut” before adding he would be off the air indefinitely.

“On my radio show yesterday I used vile and inappropriate language when talking about talk show host Laura Ingraham,” he said, after explaining that Thomas Roberts would be hosting Wednesday night’s edition of “The Ed Show.”

“I am deeply sorry and I apologize. It was wrong, uncalled for and I recognize the severity of what I said. I apologize to you, Laura, and ask for your forgiveness.”

Schultz, who hosts the hour-long weeknight news commentary program on MSNBC, made the comment on his nationally syndicated radio show Tuesday.

He was responding to Ingraham criticizing President Barack Obama’s trip to Ireland, where he was seen enjoying a beer, as the US was experiencing deadly tornadoes — in particular in Joplin, Missouri, where more than 120 people died.

NewsBusters has the transcript of Ed’s too little, too late apology: Humiliated Ed Schultz: ‘Laura Ingraham, I Am Sorry, Very Sorry’ for ‘Vile Language;’ Concedes He’s ‘Embarrassed’ MSNBC

From Gateway Pundit:

The best part was when he said, “I try to set an example to my family.”
…Except when he threatens to rip out Cheney’s throat, of course.

Today’s apology comes four months after he called Republicans “bastards” and then apologized on the air.

From The Lonely Conservative, Ed Schultz Eats Crow – Video:

Ed Schultz appeared briefly on his MSNBC show to eat a little crow for calling Laura Ingraham a slut on his radio show. I suppose he sounds sincere, but he is trying to keep his job.

From Ace of Spades HQ, MSNBC Cruelly Suspends Mentally-Challenged Man With Few Job Prospects:

The wet-looking toad earlier called Laura Ingraham a “rightwing slut” and, um, a “talk-slut,” which is just stupid.

Yeah, Ed Schultz really needs to watch this. This is my own good deed for the day– an intervention.

Ed Schultz is an embarrassing person. The sort of person you don’t want to be seen in the company of. He’s obese, stupid, red-faced, stupid, inarticulate, borderline mentally-deficient, stupid, graceless, charmless, witless, last-sad-hound-at-the-kennel ugly, and also stupid.

The swells at MSNBC, like Larry O’Donnell, with his boyish good looks untouched by any required military service in Vietnam, do not want to share his company. As he’s a gross toad.

They’re really looking for a reason. They’ll put up with fewer viewers and more losses if they don’t have to be buttonholed by him, mouth spraying out spittle and partially digested appetizers, at corporate events.

He needs to watch how stupid and repugnant he allows himself to be. No one, not even liberals, want to associate with someone so embarrassing and unattractive and stupid.

From American Spectator, Ed Schultz and the Politics of Sadism:

As Jeffrey Lord noted, MSNBC’s Ed Schultz was suspended from his TV show Wednesday after his vulgar radio attack against Laura Ingraham on Tuesday.

There are multiple layers of irony here. Ed Schultz has routinely accused conservatives of employing irresponsible rhetoric. For two years, his low-rated MSNBC show featured a segment called “Psycho Talk” devoted to examples of what Schultz deemed to be a right-wing tendency. MSNBC executives forced Schultz to discontinue “Psycho Talk” after the January shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. In the wake of the Tucson massacre, Schultz literally pointed the finger at Fox News for inciting violence — although, as it turned out, the demented gunman’s motive had nothing to do with Fox.

The partisan finger-pointing seems to be a psychological projection of Schultz’s own vitriolic rage. Examples of Schultz’s unhinged venom could be cited ad infinitum, but suffice it to say he recently won the Media Research Center’s “Quote of the Year” award for this gem: “The Republicans lie! They want to see you dead! They’d rather make money off your dead corpse! They kind of like it when that woman has cancer and they don’t have anything for her.”

Intelligent, classy perspective from Dana Loesch… here’s a portion, be sure to read the whole thing on the Big Journalism site — Ed Schultz: Sorry For Calling You a Slut:

It was a low point in progressive politics. It was revolting. It’s even more revolting that the same “feminists” who screeched about “slutwalks” were silent on this incident. It’s equally revolting that George Soros blogger Eric Boehlert, who spent that entire week trying to trap people on Twitter in saying something about rape (from memory; if I cared more I would quote him outright) also went silent on this incident.

[...]

Schultz apologized yesterday and I appreciate that he did so. That’s where this story changes. It changes because Schultz is the only, only progressive male I’ve ever heard to apologize for his sexist attack on a conservative female. I believe that he meant it. He reflected on how this must look from the perspective of his wife and sons. He confessed that he realized what he said was heinous and unacceptable and that he won’t use such sexist language with another conservative female again. I do wish that he would have addressed how his behavior looks to other progressive males. It’s not OK to dehumanize someone over politics. Stop the H8.

Hopefully he also realizes how his behavior – and apology – appears to the next generation who are watching all of this, asking themselves why they would ever want to get into politics when you can anticipate such attacks? When you can be called a “slut” simply because you disagree with a man?

Not to sound melodramatic, but I’ve never seen Ed Schultz more human. It’s empowering to admit mistakes and imperfections.
