Longshoremen in WA state stormed Port of Longview, destroyed property, held hostages, threatened police

Where are the mainstream media or the DNC on this Washington state longshoremen story from last week?

The same left-wing-supporting media that, without any evidence whatsoever, blamed and sought to smear and destroy tea party members, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, and other conservatives following the Tucson, Arizona shooting in January is now ignoring true mayhem and destruction of railroad property, and the TAKING OF HOSTAGES, by 500 ILWU union members.

FIVE HUNDRED.

As pointed out at Big Journalism, if this had been 500 tea party members and not union members in this lawless attack and destruction, the liberal media would have been screaming about it for days, perhaps weeks.

More “civility,” union-style — Jimmy Hoffa would be so proud:

Reported by Associated Press, Longshoremen storm Wash. state port, damage RR:

LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — Hundreds of Longshoremen stormed the Port of Longview early Thursday, overpowered and held security guards, damaged railroad cars, and dumped grain that is the center of a labor dispute, said Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha.

Six guards were held hostage for a couple of hours after 500 or more Longshoremen broke down gates about 4:30 a.m. and smashed windows in the guard shack, he said.

No one was hurt, and nobody has been arrested. Most of the protesters returned to their union hall after cutting brake lines and spilling grain from car at the EGT terminal, Duscha said.

The International Longshore and Warehouse Union believes it has the right to work at the facility, but the company has hired a contractor that’s staffing a workforce of other union laborers.

Thursday’s violence was first reported by Kelso radio station KLOG.

Police from several agencies in southwest Washington, the Washington State Patrol and Burlington Northern Santa Fe responded to the violence to secure the scene that followed a demonstration Wednesday.

“We’re not surprised,” Duscha said. “A lot of the protesters were telling us this is only the start.”

One sergeant was threatened with baseball bats and retreated, Duscha said. “One officer with hundreds of Longshoremen? He used the better part of discretion.”

The train was the first grain shipment to arrive at Longview. It arrived Wednesday night after police arrested 19 demonstrators who tried to block the tracks. They were led by ILWU International President Robert McEllrath, who said they would return.

The blockade appeared to defy a federal restraining order issued last week against the union after it was accused of assaults and death threats.

From International Business Times, Longshoreman Tells TV Station to ‘Get the F— Out of Here’:

The unionized longshoremen of Longview, Wash., engaged in a labor dispute with grain operator EGT that has turned violent at times, have directed their anger at local media.

When a camera crew and reporters from TV station KGW showed up at the Longview union’s headquarters to ask for someone to talk about the labor dispute, a longshoreman turned verbally and physically violent.

Initially, one longshoreman sarcastically told them to leave.

“If you go down to Miller Avenue, and talk to them dumba–es down there at EGT, they’ll tell you how they’re f—ing the Longshoremen around here,” said one longshoreman.

“If you go down to Miller Avenue, and talk to them dumba–es down there at EGT, they’ll tell you how they’re f—ing the Longshoremen around here,” said one longshoreman.

He then told KGW to “go back to Portland.”

Sometime afterwards, the KGW camera crew turned to film some papers posted on the walls of the longshoremen headquarters.

That’s when another longshoreman became abrasive and violent.

“Hey, get your f—ing camera out of here, that’s none of your fucking business,” he said, referring to the posted papers.

Face of the union — the story above left out quite a few of this union member’s profanities (warning, this video is filled with unedited profanities):

Longshore Union Member Attacks Local Media

From Guy Benson at Townhall, Lawless: Unionized Longshoremen Take Hostages, Destroy Property in Labor Dispute:

Say, didn’t a prominent union boss recently urge unionized workers to “take out” certain “son-of-a-bitches” [sic] deemed to be threats to the power and influence of organized labor? Didn’t he do so at an official presidential event? And after both the White House and DNC chair declined to condemn his inflammatory rhetoric, didn’t he also defiantly refuse to apologize? “Climate of hate!” It seems as though at least one local union in Washington State has already taken Jimmy Hoffa Jr.’s general sentiment to heart.

[...]

So they believe they, and they alone, have a “right” to work at this this facility — unlike EGT’s hired “scabs,” who actually happen to be other unionized workers. These are the bullying tactics that impel successful businesses (eg, Boeing) to flee union-dominated jurisdictions (eg, Washington) and flock to genuine “right to work” states (eg, South Carolina) to set up operations. We know how the Obama administration’s NLRB feels about that process, don’t we? But I digress; back to the Longview Longshoreman. When the police arrived to confront the hostage-takers, the standoff was probably defused, right? Wrong:
