Cain Didn’t Mean to Be Disrespectful When He Said Obama Couldn’t Run a Pizza Joint… But with Solyndra Scandal Exploding, Herman Cain Was Correct about Obama’s Lack of Leadership

Posted By on September 21, 2011

Herman Cain said in June that Pres. Obama couldn't run a pizza joint... looking at all the exploding economic messes, the record unemployment and debt, the bad decisions Team Obama has made, including the Solyndra scandal and the Fast and Furious disaster, Cain is dead right

The scandal of the crony-driven, government guaranteed loan of $535 million to the Obama-endorsed, green-jobs solar panel company Solyndra widens and deepens (more companies that were granted taxpayers’ stimulus money by Team Obama have also gone bankrupt, and during this week’s Solyndra hearings, the company’s executives are pleading the Fifth Amendment). The arrogant disregard by Obama and his statist circus clowns of the many economic warnings issued before and after the Solyndra loan was granted are surfacing. Three more murders have been linked to the DOJ/Team Obama Fast and Furious disaster — responses to FOIA requests from Eric Holder’s Justice Department on the Fast and Furious program have not been forthcoming.

This evaluation of Barack Obama’s lack of leadership skills (he’s “not decisive, he dithers”) made by Herman Cain — GOP presidential hopeful and successful former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza — back in June is now all the more prophetic.

Reported by Newsmax, Cain: Obama Couldn’t Run a Pizza Joint:

Fast-rising GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain, the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO emerging as a strong contender in the Iowa caucuses, blasted President Barack Obama’s leadership abilities in an exclusive Newsmax interview, saying Obama “could not run one Godfather’s pizza restaurant.”

Cain, who has been rising fast in the polls after his impressive showing in last month’s presidential debate in South Carolina, called the president an indecisive leader who has lost most Americans’ confidence.

“The president has demonstrated that he lacks leadership in a whole lot of ways [and] could not run a company,” Cain told Newsmax. “And I don’t mean to be disrespectful: He could not run one Godfather’s pizza restaurant.

“Instead of being decisive, he dithers,” Cain said. “Instead of having a management structure where he can entrust to some key people responsibility, he has an organization that is unmanageable. When he added 36 czars to go with the ones he already inherited, that is an unmanageable structure. So nobody knows who’s in charge.”

Although GOP attacks charging Obama with weak leadership have been muted since the successful U.S. operation to take out Osama bin Laden, those complaints have resurfaced with the growing frustration over the lack of a plausible plan from the administration on reining in entitlements and deficit spending.

“So he’s not decisive, he dithers. He has a structure that doesn’t work,” Cain said. “He’s inconsistent, and he’s broken a lot of promises, and he is losing the confidence not only of a lot of his supporters, but has lost clearly a lot of confidence from the American people.”

Cain, a conservative talk-show host and a respected voice in management circles, is a turnaround specialist who is credited with saving Godfather’s Pizza from bankruptcy during his tenure as its CEO. Cain also served a stint as chairman of the National Restaurant Association, and was chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City from 1995-1996.

From FOX News, Emails Show White House Pressure Ahead of Solar Company Loan Approval:

The White House pressed federal officials in 2009 to review a massive loan to a now-bankrupt solar panel maker despite warnings from within the administration that it was “not ready for prime time,” newly released emails show ahead of Wednesday’s Republican-led hearing on the controversy.

Solyndra’s collapse earlier this month left taxpayers on the hook for $528 million. A House Energy and Commerce subcommittee on Wednesday will probe how the loan was approved, at a hearing that’s part of a seven-month investigation.

Details about the White House’s push for the loan continued to surface Tuesday night, with reports citing email exchanges in the weeks leading up to the administration’s announcement of the loan in September 2009.

Even Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart has slammed/mocked Obama for the Solyndra disaster… wonder if Jon is starting to think like Cain, that Captain Clueless would be an utter disaster running a pizza company?

From All Headlne News, Solyndra executives to invoke Fifth Amendment rights in congressional hearing:

Executives of Solyndra, the solar company under investigation for going bankrupt despite receiving a $535 million federal loan, will not answer questions during a congressional hearing set for Friday.

In a letter to the oversight panel of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, a lawyer for chief executive Brian Harrison said he had advised his client to invoke the Fifth Amendment.

“This is not a decision arrived at lightly, but it a decision dictated by current circumstances,” said the attorney, Walter Brown, citing the search warrant executed by the Justice Department on Sept. 8 at the company’s offices.

“Mr. Harison regrets that this circumstances prevent him offering full and complete answers to this subcommittee,” Brown added. “I know, however, that this subcommittee understands the reasons and basis for my advice in the context of an ongoing Department of Justice investigation.”

The committee has been investigating the administration’s loan guarantee to the company. It issued the White House Office of Management and Budget a subpoena in June for documents about the loan, which was issued with the agreement that Solyndra would ramp up operations and hire 1,000 more workers.

[...]

Solyndra was the first recipient of a loan guarantee under the Obama administration’s economic stimulus package. The loan guarantee, worth $535 million, was issued in 2009 under a program of the Energy Department.

Last year, President Barack Obama visited the company’s facility in California to tout the fruits of the government’s investment. Solyndra was expanding at the time and, according to the White House, was providing business to out-of-state workers making construction materials for a new factory as well as those assembling equipment for solar production.

Hot Air weighs in on the Solyndra execs’ refusal to testify — Surprise: Solyndra execs to take the Fifth at congressional hearings next week:

That’s not what they said would happen last week. Remember? Philip Klein, September 13:

[GOP Rep. Cliff] Stearns, speaking to bloggers at the Heritage Foundation, said the executives called the committee staff yesterday and asked whether they would be allowed to delay their testimony until next week. If they were granted the additional time, they said they’d agree not to exercise their Fifth Amendment right not to answer questions.

“We’re a little flexible if they’ll come next week and testify freely and openly and transparently,” Stearns said. “I can’t say for sure, but most likely they’ll come next week and I think it would be very worthwhile for them to speak transparently and without taking the Fifth.”

How excited do you think the White House is, with public interest in Solyndra’s sweetheart federal loan peaking, for these two to decline to answer questions in full view of cable news cameras on grounds that doing so might place them in legal jeopardy? I can already see the YouTube montages — 20 or 30 iterations of “on the advice of counsel, I assert my Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination” all stitched together, maybe with a photo of Obama looking constipated overlaid while the audio plays. Chop chop, RNC ad team!

From John Locke Foundation, Triangle, This is SO Chicago:

Reuters reports that Obama’s crony capitalists, the execs from Solyndra, after saying last week they wouldn’t, have now decided to plead the Fifth in front of congressional investigators on Friday:

Solyndra LLC’s chief executive and chief financial officer will invoke their Fifth Amendment rights and decline to answer any questions put to them at a Congressional hearing on Friday, according to letters from their attorneys obtained by Reuters.

Will the Solyndra execs enter the hearing room with fedoras in front of their faces and their overcoats over their hands? That would make Obama’s Chicago mafia feel right at home.

Conservative commentator Rush Limbagh said this on yesterday’s radio program:

“Everybody sees Obama for what he is now, an abject failure who is simply launching a reelection campaign and polluting and degrading great institutions in the process.”

And this…

“The only jobs bill that will succeed is when Obama is jobless. The only jobs bill that will work is when all of his czars and cabinet members are fired by the voters.”
