Most Awesome Story of the Week: Ohio Grandmother Goes into “Rambo Mode” with a Heavy Skillet When Teen Burglar Pulls a Butcher Knife on Her (video)

Ohio grandma Flossie Tabor and her trusty skillet scared off two young thieves

A 74-year-old grandmother in Warren, Ohio courageously took on two teen thugs, one threatening her with a butcher knife, as they attempted to rob her home last weekend.

Frying pan to the rescue.

Flossie Tabor used to work as a bounty hunter, which may explain her nerves of steel when she was faced with this imminent danger from two young criminals. Flossie came out swinging, giving the thief with the butcher knife a gigantic wallop to the head with her skillet — way to go, Flossie!

Note to bad guys: Angry, elderly women and heavy skillets are not to be trifled with, dudes.

Feisty grannies SO rock… I want to be a feisty granny some day.

From WALB, Grandma uses bounty hunting skills to scare off burglars:

Two burglars will tell you not to mess with grannies after a 74-year-old Ohio woman attacked them with a skillet Saturday – especially when it turns out that granny is a former bounty hunter.

Flossie Tabor went to her son’s home with her grandson to bring him some fresh fruit when she found a broken window, an open door and two intruders inside.

“I walked in on them and asked them, ‘Where’s my son?’ and he said, ‘I live here,’” she recalled. “I said, ‘You don’t live here, this is my house.’ He grabbed a knife and said, ‘Don’t come near me.’”

The teen pulled a butcher knife on her, to which she responded by shielding her grandson and grabbing a defense weapon.

“The first thing I could see was a skillet,” she said. “I grabbed and hit him across the head as hard as I could, then he ran out the door.”

The grandmother, who retired from General Motors, says her instincts and past work as a bounty hunter came back to her in the moment.

“My daughter had a bonding company in Atlanta, GA, so I worked for her, her I and used to go out hunting criminals,” she said.

From 9 News, Granny fights back against a thief:

On Saturday, Tabor went to her son’s home on Wick Street in Warren to take him some fresh fruit. What she found was a broken window, the door open and two intruders inside.

“I walked in on them and asked them where’s my son, and he said ‘I live here. I said, “You don’t live here, this is my house,’ he grabbed a knife and said ‘Don’t come near me.’ I said ‘Where’s my son?’”

The grandmother says when the teen – who appeared to be about 16 – pulled a butcher knife, she surveyed her surroundings, shielded her grandson by placing him behind her and grabbed a skillet.

“The first thing I could see was a skillet, and I grabbed and hit him across the head as hard as I could, then he ran out the door. The little one said, ‘Let’s go, let’s go.’”

Tabor says she’s tracked down information about the two thugs to a nearby neighborhood, and she’s hoping for a quick arrest. The 74-year-old adds, if they come back, she’ll be waiting.

The grandmother – who retired from General Motors – says she wasn’t scared, just angry, and that’s when her instincts and past work as a bounty hunter came back to her.

“My daughter had a bonding company in Atlanta, Ga., so I worked for her, her and used to go out hunting criminals,” Tabor said.

Another “elderly vs. young punks” story — back in February 2011, an old retired boxer in Sweden thwarted young robbers who threatened him with a knife.
